  1. What would it take for LEGO to take orders for existing parts in new colours?
  2. Looks like the lights from the leaked version are available in some sets this year: http://brickset.com/parts/6100761
  3. Didn't notice that until you pointed it out. Damn. And thanks for doing so.
  4. Changing the 2L liftarm to a 2L half liftarm, gives you about 5 degrees reduction. Turning the tyre towards the steering arm, you can move 20 degrees; 25 degrees in the version posted. In both cases you're hitting the tyre with the steering arm before you hit the liftarm. The original version (with 3L half liftarms) gives you 10 degrees of movement towards the tyre.
  5. This would give more range but the connection would be weaker. It could be reinforced by switching to the cross axle pin (as used on the steering rack) and using 2L half-beams, but this would come with a reduced range.
  6. I'm trying to build a UCS-scale Tumbler—obviously the steering is a big difficulty. Any reason to think that this solution won't work (i.e. rim [green] grinding against the liftarms [red])? The wheel is attached to a 4M cross axle with stop, secured on the opposite with two half bushes.
  7. Given that they applied a sepia tone to the start of the 42038 video, it's quite likely they're trying to evade automatic detection. Pretty sure they know what they're doing.
  8. I have both. I got 42030 first and I found it a nice build (my first studless Technic set) and I liked that everything was RC. Lots of PF bits there (every current motor type, 2 IR receivers and remotes, and a battery box) and large wheels that are free for MOCs. Certainly good for a starter model, particularly if you're missing PF. Functions are what you'd expect, but a little limited. 42009 is WAY more complex, functionally. I thought the truck was pretty complicated, but then I got to the cab. You're basically assembling a ton of axles and transferring power between them with regular gears, and past them with clutch gears. Still haven't figured the cab out. Once assembled, it's interesting to play with and see the functions working, but a lack of RC is annoying—solved in this MOC though: http://rebrickable.com/mocs/jurgen/ultimate-42009 You get a ton of gears, panels, and useful stuff in 42009. 42030 is worth it if you want the RC stuff and the wheels.
  9. @edwardlego Did you manage to retrofit this into the UCS model?
  10. As our people say in American movies: Begora ar Fintan ar fad.
  11. Sweet build—particularly the disturbing switch to crab steering :) RE: the diffs—could you have the rear one lock (and perhaps lock steering to centre) based on a remote-controlled input?
  12. @moz: Not sure about the deal there—new black panels from Bricks and Pieces are EUR 1.34 from the Irish store. AUD 1.60 from the Aus store. Surely a better deal from there?
  13. Building http://rebrickable.c...o/red-coupé-v12 soon, and my old 8880 with some new white parts.
  14. Thanks, couldn't find it on a search of trans clear or trans brown pieces so assumed it was new.
  15. Yup. Looking forward to that (though we'll likely have to switch colours a bit). The lights featured in the leaked image—they were going to be new parts?
  16. 42039 on Amazon.co.uk now (though I think they're getting ahead of themselves): http://www.amazon.co...ords=42039 lego
  17. Took me WAY too long to figure out where the battery was stashed. These models are sick.
