  1. Sounds cool... any pictures of that one?
  2. Having build it with the saving tips of bmerigan I can say most of them work perfectly, but I wouldn't agree to all of them if I would do it again... The rigging and the dish are a no-brainer of course... but the long technic pins in blue are visible on some of the corners of the mandibles and of course on the radar dish... so it would be nice to have a few in black, too. The levers imho don't look good in black... I'd look out for light gray ones and switch them out, still a lot cheaper than LBG ones. Also the 6L bars instead of the 6,6L ones is pretty visible in some areas (mainly at the cockpit) and (again imho) doesn't look too good... I bit the bullet and got used ones from the US. I myself switched the colors of the long technic bricks to light gray and black for the internal parts... possible, but also very visible on the mandibles, so you must be extremely careful what colors you can easily switch. My tip on switching colors: Have a very good look on the instructions first and think about which part goes were... then you can decide. Also it is muuuuch harder when your sitting in a huge pile of parts and look for DBG parts in the instructions, that you switched to black or light gray or something else... trust me! I searched some parts for hours before realizing I don't have them (in that color at least...)
  3. Shape and proportions are really fantastic... I love it! Can you tell more about the pieces, that had to be painted? I can see 10 pieces: the big slopes on the wings behind the guns and the pointy parts on the front sides.
  4. Just like in the PC-game... Oh, that were the days... Flying missions, working your way up in the empire, busting rebel-scum. I still got the game in my collection, but I don't have a windows PC anymore.
  5. I think the older dude pilots the Interceptor and the young guy the standard Tie-Fighter.
  6. Great short movie, loved it! I like you MOC as well...nicely captured!
  7. Fantastic picture! - - - Great, just ordered a correct sticker sheet from LEGOs CS...
  8. Got a 10215 UCS Obi Wan's Jedi Starfighter in the mail yesterday... very excited to have gotten one of those MIMSB for a decent price (80 €) I really want to beef up on those nice UCS sets now...
  9. Looks great! Congratulations on finishig it (again)... So, whats your next BL-project, then?
  10. Fantastic! I really appreciate your perfectly movie acurate details... This is some awesome work!
  11. Thank you, Iceman! I'm lucky indeed to be granted this kind of "madness" around the house... I did some new photos of the brickbuilt radar dish I rebuild today and that I wanted to share: The added greebling gives the eye something more to wander about at the dish and changing the spokes to LBG gives it a more "solid" or "technical" look as with the DBG ones... I had one of the Battle Droid arms in tan color and added it for a little difference in the pattern... looks nice, but dark red would be even nicer imho. And some new pictures of the Red Five X-Wing I built yesterday... very nice building experience and a fantastic model, indeed! But as I'm so hard pressed for shelf space I had to place it on the ground below the Falcon... I took a lot of care with the canopy stickers... cut out the inner part with the clear stickers and applied the remaining thin frames using water with a drop of dishwashing soap, kind of sliding the stickers in place than drying them completely and pressing them onto the canopy piece. That worked like a charm and looks really stunning imho. Here's the rest of my "to-do's"... got most of it during a little shopping-spree, while having a 20% rebate-card for a local store...
  12. I got a 20% off coupon for the Legoland store here in Germany... so I'll probably get it at some point for 160 Euro, which seems a pretty fair deal to me! (I might also get the Sandcrawler für 240 Euro... which is even better! )
  13. Thank you all! Well, it's not exactly cheap to BL the MF... And of course I made some mistakes along the way (paid to much for shipping, bought a lot from LEGO directly, made accidental double orders and so on...) I recon I paid something around 850 Euro for the whole thing including shipping, but without the really expensive parts (mainly boat rigging and radardish) mind you. I think I'm already at a good start with my new BL project, though... I already bought about 1000 black tiles for the Death Star hangar diorama at Legoland last week... Brandnew and shiney and incredibly cheap! Can't wait to get started on this one!
  14. Supported! I love the Probedroid, and yours really is dead on!
  15. Thats set no. 10188 The "Death Star" Playset... Toys'r us Germany has it für 20% off right now... Thats where I bought it last christmas... Took me almost a week to finish it, but was a most enjoyable build for me.
  16. Great work, looks much more movie acurate
  17. Can't tell... Its still sitting in its box... I hope to build it sometime this weekend.
  18. Got the latest AT-TE yesterday... Its out of production now, so i got it for 30% off... And finally the Red Five X-Wing and the Mos Eisley Cantina with 20%off at Toys'r us!
  19. I still love the vintage Kenner toys... I collected and played with them as a child, so they hold a lot of sentimental value to me... I completed my vintage collection in the early 90ies, when the hype really took off with the PT movies. Since then I collected mainly 12"figures, ships and vehicles but left everything MISB, just putting it in the shelves. With LEGO its now different for me, I always want to build the models, so the packaging isn't that important to me... And of course my son wants to play with them and check em out... (He says he has to check, if the models are sturdy enough...)
  20. Thank you, Kelso. That's what I do... At least my wife says so...
  21. Thank you, notaromantic. I also think with these large builds that subtle differences in color can create a very nice effect to the overall look... You just have to be careful not to strain this effect, as it tends to get distracting and too obvious easily, making some parts look "out-of-place". I wouldn't do it to republic or imperial ships, though, as too me they always look brandnew and clean. My next project is a Death Star Hangar to house this Falcon, I'm sourcing parts for it right now... After this I'm already eying Anios Venator UCS (if I can find some room for it to display)...
  22. Thank you! Thats a window with some foliage on the ground... A lighting shaft on the side of the house, as its below ground.
  23. Uuhh... An UCS Republic Gunship would be more than awesome... I think it was my favorite LEGO build from all my Star Wars sets and is so much fun playing with it... Still its fairly movie acurate and a pretty big set overall... I did the turret-mod to the unchanged GS and it still works great.... I'm not a great fan of the completely closed doors, though.
  24. Thank you all! No, but it's build with the transclear bricks, so it certainly could... perhaps when placed in the Deathstar-hangar, I'll also add some light effects to the ship. Thats just some white fabric I found with our rugs... seems to be the back of an old shirt or something. Fits great, but I really want to brickbuild the snowfield sooner or later. Yes its a room in our basement, where I keep most of my stuff... (mostly DVD- and movie memorabilia collection)
