No, I picked it up from a fellow AFOL at work... After my bad experience with the first attempt to buy one online I wanted one I can pick up personally... It's still sealed and great - now I don't want to open it! It was expensive, yes, but not over the top, although I did strain my budget quite a bit there...

BrickLinking (another) 10179 UCS Millennium Falcon
H_Solo replied to Lobot's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Congratulations on finishing the project! A great looking piece, isn't it? About the leftover pieces, I had the very same problem, but with other bits (lots of 2x3 plates) I know, that the lists you can download are sometimes not too accurate but I think I did some duplicate orders somewhere along the way... With over 5000 parts you're bound to make some kind of mistake...- 290 replies

Thank you, Lobot. I think is is an underestimated set, although not much beside the size speaks for it out of the box... To many awkward details, some really bad proportions, strange building decisions and lots of 1x4 technic bricks in tan... I just happen to like walkers and toyed around with it in LDD switching plates with tiles, toying with the colors and saw some great potential there for some mocing with my beginners aibilities. Sealed sets are aroung 350€ here... I was on the brink of buying a used one for 250€ but decided to go with Bricklink instead... Payed about 130€-150€ for the missing bricks and toyed around a few days with modding before assembling the whole thing this weekend. Bricklinking is sooo much fun and highly addictive... Aready got a large box with parts for the 10143 sitting under my desk...

Thank you! I took it to heart and already hid those pins behind some bushes and added more detailed pieces to hide the technic bricks further... The middle dashboard is an old space piece I found in my stockpile... Bricklink: http://alpha.brickli...id=164#T=S&O={}

I recently picked up the idea of bricklinking some other UCS-sets... started with the DSII (10143) but soon came to realize, that this task will take about forever... it has some fairly common elements, but sooo many of them! Well, thats my project for early 2016, then. I started bricklinking the UCS AT-ST 10174 instead... I already had about a third of the bricks in my stock - mostly used and/or old gray but I wanted to give the model my own twist and that nice used look, anyway, so there was again no need to buy an original set. I'm still a few bricks short of the finishing line, but I wanted to show it anyhow, as I just put it together today. Heres what I came up with: As you can see, I added a multitude of mods to the model: - Added interior with stabilizers (no need for rubber bands anymore!) - Reworked the plating on the head, put the guns two studs to the rear - Added tiling to the head and legs - The motor was detailed after the studio model - Lower Blastshield for the front motor-section - Blaster cannon on the left and the chingun was reworked - I also added a top gun for the pilot (like with the oldschool Kenner toy) - Added "real" handlebars to the top - "Real Claws, no can actually count as weapons And a lot of stuff, I cant even remember... I just had the studio model pics on my screen, and tried to find the best way to translate it to LEGO. Hope you like it so far, I'll try to post better pics, when its al finished (after my last BL-order arrived from the US...)

[MOD] UCS Slave 1 (anti-droop/bend when on stand)
H_Solo replied to ArchieNov's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I had this beautiful set out on display from day one, "the gap" was today still not so so big as shown on page one of this thread... but it was noticable, if you knew it was there... I just recreated the mod shown here as I had all the needed parts on hand... The model feels more solid now and looks exactly as on day one. I'll keep an eye on if there is more strain on the brickbuilt cockpit area... I understand the issue, but as I don't swoosh it around, I kind of doubt that there will be a problem. -
I'm really intrigued by the idea of a LBG Imperial Shuttle... Anyone tried this? Perhps this would make a nice BL project after I finished the UCS AT-ST and the DS II I'm BL'ing right now...
-
Actually I like it much better with the bigger cockpit... looks more "compact" and menacing, as with the long pylons and the tiny bubble in the middle... I think I'll have to mod mine as well, when I got my extra Tie-Advanced in the mail. The Defender is not getting as much love as it deserves, imho.

Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here
H_Solo replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
In Germany theres 15% off anything from Star Wars right now at toys-r-us... I'd pick up the Tydirium Shuttle, which is a great set and is on sale for 75€ right now... -
Yeah well these things happen... I dealt with A LOT of people on the net and its always different... Some are great to deal with (like you would think about yourself) some are "difficult" and some are just plain rude... And of course theres the sudden illness type, guess you can never really estimate whats coming... My gut tells me that this was a scam... But thats all in the past. Thanks to Paypal!
-
Thanks! And thats for the SD or the SSD... 10300 right? Thats a great price I'd gladly pay... They are selling for 1k€ plus here... Too much for me, think I have to wait for a re-release from LEGO or do my own... Never received the Shuttle and no further word from the seller... What an a... Got the money back from Paypal after 10 days, though. But I got the 10225 save and sound... A whole bunch of loose bricks, all like new and neatly sealed in small boxes inside the behemoth of the outer box.. Can't wait to start sorting the parts out and start building this weekend.
-
Whoa... Let me know how this turned out... What was the price of the SD? I'm avaiting delivery of the 10225 UCS R2-D2 right now...

Perhaps a Statue of Liberty set is more plausible as a GBII set, than the museum -
Bought the Jedi Scout Fighter (mainly for the figures) and the Naboo Starfighter both on a good discount from an online shop... I think I'm almost done shoopping for this year, now...

Just ordered the General Grievous and Commander Cody constraction figures from S@H to get the Christmas special train gift and double VIP points... they also put in a free Rebels Stormtrooper polybag. Also ordered the Kylo Ren Command Shuttle from Amazon with my collected gift cards... Perhaps there'll be another small haul tomorrow at Legoland (to get a C-3PO polybag ;-))
-
Very good version of the gunship! I was delighted to see it again in Rebels as it had far too less screentime in TCW. Thanks for sharing!

Best current set to start out on bricklinkink the ISD 10300 ?
H_Solo replied to H_Solo's topic in LEGO Star Wars
That sounds promising! And would be a task I'd gladly take on... -
The C-3PO polybag is available at Legoland Germany right now with any (SW) purchase of 55€
-
I really didn't think about leg-movement with my mods as I see it more as a standing model, than a walking one...
-
I love the green version! Although I think, it's a little too much with the green making it look almost too colorful.
