Thank you all! Can't say, really... I'd estimate it between 20-25kg with the Falcon and the baseplate...
-
That is fantastic! Looks really sleek and smooth! A great model, imho far superior to the LEGO offering of the UCS B-Wing. Congratulations.

Thank you! Costwise I think it settles somewhere around the 1.000 Euro area... I got all the black tiles pretty cheap at Legoland (around 3ct per piece) the other costly parts are the DBG 2x3, 2x4 and 2x6 bricks which you need in really great numbers... But those can be bricklinked new and cheap from time to time. I got almost everything in white, black and red already in my stock, so I "just" had to get the DBG and some of the LBG bricks... But make no mistake. This a really demanding project! It's about 8000 parts, 11 baseplates and a gigantic wooden plate to put it all onto + you'll need a 10179 handy to fill it up...
-
Thank you very much! After making the hangar longer the tile-counter went up quite a bit... Must be well over 3000 tiles now... Totaling the hanger to over 8000 pieces...

So, after getting the missing parts in the mail last week and a visit to Legoland yesterday, I can finally show some pictures of the finished thing. I'll let the pictures do the talking... As I was on it I did a quick shot of the LEGO Star Wars collection so far... Hope you like it... thanks for looking!

Got the UCS Sandcrawler today at Legoland... Wow, what a gigantic box this is!
-
As always, amazing work!! That's what I would have expected as an official UCS-Set. If I only had the room to display all these beautiful creations... oh, and the dough to buy all those missing bricks to build them!
-
Got some used sets in the mail yesterday... all in perfect condition (seller even kept the plastic bags and sticker backings inside the boxes... let alone all Minifigs and even the spare-parts are present and neatly bagged!) 7962 Podracers set 9491 Geonosian Canon 9495 Y-Wing 9499 Gungan Sub 75003 A-Wing 75022 Mandalorian Speeder I recently bought Jabbas Sail Barge from him and it was a deligthting built...
-
I like it! Not so much as Jabbs Palace but it captures the look of the building very well! Great job!
-
That's really spot-on! Well done!

Got two BP (DS-Troopers and Utapau Troopers) and two Stormtrooper Polybags from TRU...

Thank you, Chills! The details are amazing, but I can't take credit for it, at least not for the normal sized Hangar designed by the brilliant creators I mentioned above in my first post. I just put in two more wallparts at each end... The control room and hideout for the droids would be in front of the scene, so unfortunately there's no room to put it in. I thought about putting in a wall at the right side to add stability to the back wall and close the scene. But right now, I just want to finish it up as it is... Got the missing bricks in the mail today and hope to finish it tomorrow... Just missing the black tiles now...
-
That looks great! I've been thinking about getting an acrylic glass cover done for the whole thing... The baseplate is 1cm wider around the whole scenery. so a cover could easyly be placed over it. But for now I'll just protect it from dust with a plastic rain cover for garden furniture...

BrickLinking (another) 10179 UCS Millennium Falcon
H_Solo replied to Lobot's topic in LEGO Star Wars
As I used a lot of parts in old gray I also got most of the levers in old gray, which could be bought very easily and pretty cheap (with different kind of bases)... I also got some levers in LBG and switched some of the bases of the gray levers to LBG, to get some variation in the colors. It didn't cost an arm and a leg but looks imho way better, than the black levers. I did use a "normal" red 6x14 plate for the bottom of the falcon, I used ScottishDave's engine setup and did use his brickbuild radar dish... I used odd colors for the inside of the falcon and so on... If you do a little research you'll find lots of moneysaving potential to this set, which doesnt affect the overall look at all or at least not very much.- 290 replies

Looks fantastic so far. Can't wait to see the final version of it.

Thank you, Robin. I don't have plans to light this set, as I'm not so much into electronics. There also would be Lego parts to be drilled-trough and I wouldn't like that... Perhaps I'll build a cabinet to set it on into my dedicated Star Wars room, where there's better lighting. Right now its just sitting on the desk in the guestroom waiting for completion... (I already got all the missing parts in just two BL orders and I'll get the missing tiles on my next visit to Legoland...)

BrickLinking (another) 10179 UCS Millennium Falcon
H_Solo replied to Lobot's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Imho the 10179 is such a rewarding model to Bricklink, any Star Wars fan should think about taking it on... Its a lot of hard work and lots of cash but it just is amazing to build this gigantig heap of junk and see it growing and taking form. For me its THE ONE iconic ship of the OT and one of the most impressive LEGO sets ever. Don't fret on expensive parts... Try to find a workaround or an alternative... There are so many tips on that here on the board. Now go and start on your own 10179 right now!- 290 replies

Thank you very much! Here's the first update already... I put in all the black tiles I had at home and have just a small piece of the floor missing now... funny, the missing tiles now add up to almost 250... plus some other 80-100 Bricks... Got to do some BL-research later on... Well, heres what it looks like now: I couldn't wait and got my Falcon ready to fly in... Now, that's what I wanted... the hangar kind of dwarfes the Falcon, it doesnt' look out of place or too big inside it...just about right! I also got the crew and some Troopers out, to get ready for action: More updates to come, when I got the missing bricks and can take some real quality pictures of the whole thing... Thanks for looking!

After bricklinking my UCS Millenium Falcon last year I was really hooked... to LEGO Star Wars, to UCS-Sets and after reading on and about here in the forum at last to MOC-ing... As I went on and thought about placing the MF into a nice setting of course I stumbled on this excellent work here: http://hudecity.de/?p=2464 ... and again was hooked... this was a really great creation and such a wonderful setting to present the MF properly! I showed it to my wife, who said I was crazy, but thats nothing new to me... so I started collecting parts since the beginning of the year. I found this excellent rebrickable site: http://rebrickable.c...-for-ucs-falcon And downloaded the parts-list and instructions... some very hefty piece-counts are in there... almost 3000 black tiles, over 300 6x2 bricks in DBG... CRAZY!! After half a year I had about everything ready to go now, but this week I finally got a little free time, so I started the project! I went to the hardware store to get a nice baceplate for everything... (117x91cm in total) 18mm strong multiplex wood should be strong enough not to bend under the weight of about 13.000 LEGO bricks...(Hangar + Falcon) As you might see, I did not cut the big gray baseplates in half as with the original rebrickable instructions... I just inserted another small green plate to the middle so elongating the hangar to make even more room for the Falcon... this brought several problems I'm facing right now, but more about that later... I had everything neatly bagged and tagged... Starting of with the first lines of tiles: After a few hours I already had half an Energy shielded doorway... This is where the fun began... the backwall was really delighting to build with lots of great techniques and clever designs After another few hours my son could just barely look over the wall... This is what I got yesterday evening: The wall is now almost finished... but due to the longer baseplate array I wasn't able to close the walls or finish the control building entirely... I had to heavily imrovise elongating the backwall and so I finally ran out of bricks... even if I got about 350 6x2 and 330 4x2, they are all gone now... I'll need to BL some other bricks soon, to get the missing parts done. I decided to finish other stuff around the hangar and start tiling the floor today... just to get a better oversight what I am missing right now... And here's what I have right now... I still got a good bag of black tiles so they should close most of the gaps on the plates... Well, thats all for today... hope you like it as much as I do... (even my wife said, it looks "most impressive!") I'll keep posting as I advance further with my own personal Hangar Bay 327.

I built the Cantina last sunday and was delighted by it! So I thought to invest a bit on Tatoine.... Got Jabbas Palace in the mail yesterday, Jabbas Sail Barge and the Desert Skiff are still on its way... On Saturday I'll get the Rancor Pit in Legoland and perhaps pick up Tydirium as well.
-
That's why I hand counted every single brick in every order to keep track of things... but I still managed to "misplace" some parts during the build ending up re-ordering parts I already had in stock... oh well.
-
Fantastic! My son and I were there and he loved the battlescenes , especially this with all the Walkers and Gunships... Great work! We were really admiring the creativity and hard work in this event. I'd love to see more pictures.

About the Droid Tri Fighter... For 20€ its a great set! The Palpatine Minifig is fantastic, the Droids are nothing special but a good addition to the army... The ship has some great building and lots of nice dark blue parts. but is nothing too fancy... Its very swooshable but little pieces do fall off easily when played with.... Its more something to look at as it catches the look of the "original" nicely. At the original price of 40€ I would feel cheated, though... I'd see this one in the 25-30€ range to be a decent deal.

It is! Got a Droid Trifighter für 20€ at Legoland last week... Nice built and now I got the awesome Palpatine Minifig.
