  1. Ohh... I'm gonna need those Tusken Raiders! Great Design!
  2. Just finished it yesterday... Great build with lots of fun. In fact extremely much fun as there is almost no repetitive building and the different levels and techniques are always keeping you on edge, what comes next. The building instructions are most impressive either! Get it now! I mean right now! Order it, you know you want it...;-)
  3. Im in the middle of building the DS right now (finished the first of four boxes inside the huge package!) Everything about this set is spectacular - and its a family task! My Wife helps with sorting parts and our son (5) keeps playing with the figs in the already build rooms... He especially likes the trash compactor! Got the set at 20% off from Toys'r'us... At 335€ still a lot of money, but overall a good deal and I'm pretty happy with it so far.
  4. Thanks! I'm in the middle of building the Death Star (10188) together with my son right now... Fantastic set but out of the box not really that challenging after this rebricking experience! I think this kind of hobby is highly addictive!
  5. Yeah! Just put in my final sweeping order at the Lego site for my rebricked 10179... That puts me to a total of 7 BL and 2 Lego orders... more, than I expected, but I think it's still all right... the grand total should be something around 890 Euro for all the bricks (about 70% new ones) including postage... I did order a few extra Parts for my son and extras for the planned mods to the model so the total to a 100% original rebricked Falcon is somewhat relative... I must say, I totally underestimated how time consuming this undertaking really is... I spend hours and hours sorting through delivered parts and checking the Brickstock files against them... and I did double-order a few parts, but still negliable - now I really can't wait to build this baby!
  6. Amazong work! You took a lot of effort to re-create this so perfectly!
  7. Thank you Dave, you're photos are an inspiration to me! I've gone through our old Legos last weekend (mostly 80ies and 90ies stuff) and found about 500 or so parts are already in my possesion... I've then updated my Brickstock and put in the first orders for parts... (3x BL and one from Lego) those should add up to something around 4000 parts. (of course I fell for the old cheapish parts but damn high shipping costs trick, but as I found almost 1.9k new parts for about half the price as from Lego I bit the bullet...) I also bought a hole lot of stuff used from another seller, and even did throw in a few off-colored parts in the old light/dark grey, as I think Daves Falcon looks so perfectly weathered with all the older and sometimes slightly discolored parts. I plan to get the missing parts on (hopefully) not more than two additional BL and/or Lego orders. But first I have to do a checkup on what I got after the orders arrive... I promise I'll then start my own thread documenting the progress and show my own modifications to the set...
  8. Sweet! I almost regret picking up the UCS Falcon task...
  9. Fantastic! I love the iconic wall light design! Very, very well executed! I wish I could do something like that to my Star Wars room... (I mainly collect Kenner/Hasbro toys and other SW stuff...) Congratulations on this idea and the finished look! A lot of admiring visitors are a given, I'd say!
  10. Dave, can you tell me about your custom Radardish design? I try to mimic that but cant find the round part, that combines the 90 degree mechanical arms to the center... On top is a light bley inverted 2x2 dish and a 20 Technic gear Tooth Bevel, right? but whats the pin connecting it all together? Thank you very much for your help!
  11. Reading about everyone great experiences with building the UCS Falcon and seeing the fantastic results pushed me over the edge in picking up this task myself. (I'm a total newby to Lego (just your avarge readily bought small model here and there) and Bricklink, but why not start right here with the ultimate challange!) I'm especially fond of Dave's great mods, the engine, the baffles the mandibles and redisigning of the hull... all this looks like studio model quality! The blog about the engine design will surely help me with altering my bricklink orders to the new needed parts... is there something similar to your (Dave) other mods? Thanks a bunch Michael
