LEGO Star Wars 2023 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
Toa Palpo replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Yeah I too was very disappointed with how season 3 turned out. The pacing was all over the place, the plot did not go at all like I expected or hoped. It fealt like 2 and a half seasons of buildup to a particular outcome that did not happen and pretty much every dangling plot line got wrapped up by the end in a rush and we were left with a return to the status quo. I'm really disappointed in Jon and Dave this time. I would love to know what happened behind the scenes because this was not even remotely up to the standard of season 2. As far as the LEGO sets go, they all fit but are still incredibly underwhelming except for the Spider Tank, that is the most interesting and exciting set for season 3 to me, plus it comes from my favorite episode of the season. It's definitely missing some key things but the minifig selection is fantastic and the build is really cool. I'm a sucker for Star Wars walkers and the Spider Tank feels like something the Separatists would have had. As far as set coverage goes, the only things that are missing imo are Gorian Shard's Corsair and a set based on the finale with certain spoiler characters. I'd still like more Mandalorian sets but based on prior seasons. I still cannot believe we don't have Cobb Vanth and his speeder made from Anakin's pod racer. How is that not a $20-$25 set right now?? Also, we badly need more tBoBF sets. I'm still dying for one based on the finale! -

Whay makes you say that, have you seen it? I don't see any leaks in the usual places -
So far I love what I'm seeing! Overall very imaginative and fun. I really like the turtle with a VW bus for a shell and the crocodile car is neat(I can't believe they didn't call it a car-codile!), the shark ship is cool, the evil-looking Pegasus gives me Thestral vibes and I dig it(again, they didn't call it a night-mare!?). Oddly enough my favorite thing out of all of this is robot Z-Blob which might be one of the safest and most "normal" designs here but I just think its really cool. Luckily for me that's supposed to be a cheap set. I can't wait to see how all of this translates to the actual sets themselves! It kinda sucks the official reveal is almost a month away but I imagine there will be a bunch more leaks to keep us busy until then.

I love the baby dragon piece! Hopefully it comes in lots of colors and prints. -

Heck, I'm still holding out hope for a set based on the finale of Book of Boba Fett with Boba, his Rancor, Cad Bane, Krrsantan, a Scorponek Droid and a couple Pykes. -

Having watched a review of the Fang Fighter vs TIE Interceptor, my opinion of the set has definitely improved. The minifig selection still sucks and it's still overpriced but what details are there are good. I still hate that the wings on the fang fighter don't move and while we haven't seen it in the show yet, I wish it had blue on it instead of gray. The Interceptor looks better than I initially thought. Overall a decent set but I'd rather use that money for one of the amazing sets we're getting later in the year. -

Given his appearance in the Halloween special, I wonder if they'll give Werewolf-By-Night the Monkey King head piece. Of the existing options, I think it fits the best. Also, he's definitely getting the Bloodstone medallion for an accessory. I wonder if they'll make him black and white or not. While it would be neat and make him stand out, I hope they don't so he can fit in with other figures in a display. -

Wow, that line-up sounds too good to be true! Definitely want most of them but my top picks in order are: Werewolf-By-Night, Moon Knight, Mr. Knight, and Beast. I'm so happy we're at least getting something for Werewolf-By-Night. I would have loved Elsa Bloodstone too but we'll see both of them and Man-Thing again at some point, I just hope it's relatively soon. I need an official LEGO Man-Thing! I'm really glad we're getting both Moon Knight and Mr. Knight. Hopefully they both come with alternate heads for both personalities. Beast is one of my favorite X-Men of all time so I'm definitely excited for him too. -

The TIE Bomber canonically has a smaller port window than other TIE craft so it's quite accurate to the source material save for the way the way the set was designed didn't allow for the figure to be seen through it, which in my opinion was an acceptable compromise for a better, more accurate TIE Bomber. It just wouldn't make any sense if they used that same design on TIE Interceptor. My issue with the Interceptor is the same issue I had with the most recent TIE Fighter; the whole thing is too blocky. I didn't put that together but you might be onto something. Whether or not that is the $100 Ahsoka set or not is another story and honestly I kinda doubt it. Regardless, I want Zeb to be in at least one of the Ahsoka sets. -

Wow, so those were real? Wow. These are both very exciting and very concerning for my wallet. The figure selection for the Swamp Speeder is honestly pretty disappointing. The Republic Gunship is great and the figure selection is very strange but I'll take it. The Ghost sounds fantastic though I was really hoping for a new Zeb. Hopefully he shows up in a different set and he BETTER have the digigrade legs! The pieces have existed for quite awhile but sadly rarely get used. The UCS Venator sounds great but waaay out of my price range and the fact that THIS is the set that is getting the brand new Rex is utterly infuriating and frankly insulting, unless of course we get Rex in another set and the only exclusive part is his head with the bandage on it. The $70 T-6 also sounds great but as with all of these sets, very stingy on the minifigs for the price. Seriously, how does the small Swamp Speeder get more figures than $50, $70 and $100 sets!? The Fang fighter vs TIE Interceptor looks pretty good, figure selection is a bit weak and I'm not sold on the design of the Interceptor's cockpit but it's so nice to finally get a new one. Definitely need more pictures of this one. Like others were saying, this year got expensive really quickly and we still have some Ahsoka sets we don't know much about yet. -
I don't know if it's against the rules or not to post a link to a foreign government's website and I'm not going to risk it. Watch Just2good's video about the leak, he provides the info there and the source.

Despite what day it is, the image comes from Safety Korea l, it is absolutely legitimate. This is our first actual look at the theme and what a bizarre way to get a first look. I suppose that's fitting though given what we know about this theme. I love these minifigs, so many interesting designs, colors and hair pieces. The new small creatures (Z-Blob I assume, or at least the green one must be) is bizarre and almost a little creepy. Out of all of these, my favorite is the old guy in the white armor. I dig the logo. It basically combines the classic space logo with something reminiscent of Time Cruisers which Dreamzzz feels like a spiritual successor to much like Power Miners was for Rock Raiders.

Also our first High Republic set but hopefully not our last. The figures are the real highlight here, though the build itself does include several nice printed pieces. -

While these look nice, there's nothing here that's really new or exclusive enough to justify spending that much on them. Just a big "meh" from me. Hopefully someone managed to buy one so we can maybe get a look at the product ads in the back of the manual. -

I agree on all points. I too am a huge fan of the Clone Wars/prequel era and those sets get me way more excited than anything OT. It also helps that most prequel vehicles actually have color(gasp!). I get so sick of bland gray polygonal ships that's most of the OT and even Mando stuff, as much as I love Mando. -

Yes, I meant Bly. I really want Bacara at some point though. I'd love a Galactic Marines bp one day and it really wouldn't be hard for them to make. Just put some purple printing on the snowtrooper helmet or dual-mold it. -

I agree. I'm of the opinion that our best bet for a Rex this year might be from one of the Ashoka sets unless he comes in one of the unknown sets. It just doesn't make sense for him to be in the swamp speeder. Bacara makes way more senses, especially with the niew visor piece. -

I absolutely agree. Just because it's not canon anymore doesn't mean it isn't still awesome and enjoyable. I would absolutely love aome sets based on some of the episodes: the abduction of Palpatine for example. I would be ecstatic over an official Roron Corobb figure. Also, imagine a small speederbike dual set between Obi-Wan and Dirge. Dirge would make for an amazing minifig! -

Except that it IS specifically for the 03 Clone Wars because it's the 20 year anniversary. It is not the 20 year anniversary of the Filoni Clone Wars because that didn’t air until 2008. I totally agree about slapping anniversaries on the boxes though. Why bother doing that if the set isn't actually going to be relevant and you don't really want people to care that much. Imho LEGO is seriously missing the mark by not taking advantage of anniversaries to produce dedicated sets. Star Wars isn't the only theme they've historically done this with but they at least are going all out for the 30th anniversary of Jurassic Park and the big Disney anniversary this year. The only anniversary LEGO did anything with for Star Wars was the anniversary for the LEGO Star Wars theme itself. -

Wow, it's $50 not $45? That's definitely not as good but still on par with Lego Stat Wars pricing unfortunately. Now it's even less excusable that it doesn't include an additional figure for the Rahkshi/Greivous thing and Grogu's pram. It doesn't even look like it has a cage on the belly to put Din in... maybe this is another case of the sets not being as accurate or live up to the source material because LEGO wasn’t given enough to go on. -

I love the Brachiosaurus, I just wish it was a different color. I think the biggest disappointment with the lack of poseable legs is that they also can't be removed so that the body can be reused for other saurapods. Imagine they had used the body with a different leg setup and used the new neck piece straightened out on both ends for a Dreadnoughtus.
