LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 4 discussion
Canada_7 replied to legokuate's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I just got nearly a whole box (probably around 52) so that I could sort the minifigures in the comfort of my home. After feeling around and labeling the bags I had opened, I ended up opening 18 bags, and got 15/16 different ones (the 3 that were repeats were 2 werewolves and 1 soccer player). The one I couldn't find and still don't have is the ice skater (which surprised me...52 bags and not a single ice skater...?). Yes I will be returning the ones that I did not open, I only want one of each. My markings were different from the ones provided on the minifig site, but they match the ones that you have mapped out in a revised one. -

For this specific order, it was $8.97 shipping, $7.20 tax. It's a preorder so I haven't been charged yet. The Canadian dollar is actually above the US dollar right now...I hope when the order actually ships this will still be the case. -

It's some sort of site where you can get a bit of a rebate if you buy online through one of their links or something. So let's so with B&N, I log into my account first with that Great Canadian Rebates site, click their link for B&N, then it just links me back to the regular B&N site, then I make my purchase. Not entirely sure how it works but it is legit. If only Barnes & Noble had the modular houses, or any of the bigger sets or just a bigger Lego section in general. They sell at the US MSRP and even though I have to pay for shipping for Canada, they never charge for customs/duty. Can't remember the reason why but I think it's because they ship from within the province of Ontario in Canada. -

I preordered Queen Anne's Revenge and The Mill a few days ago from Barnes and Noble. I'm Canadian and from my past experiences, I have not been charged with any sort of duty. I can't remember the reason why (either they ship from within Canada or some other thing) they don't but just be thankful they don't charge customs and all that stuff. Also used my Groupon that was "$10 for $20 worth". Too bad I forgot to use Great Canadian Rebates to get some cashback (4.2% cashback too)....Sigh, oh well. -
Just a quick somewhat related question on Lego stores for those who have been to an official Lego store recently. Here in Toronto, we're getting our first Lego store finally (second official one in Canada after Calgary first got one last year). I know someone mentioned to expect pretty much every set available, so does that include stuff like the modular houses and the really big sets? In particular, I'm probably looking to get Diagon Alley from the Harry Potter line sometime before that goes out of production.

I'm real tempted to preorder Queen Anne's Revenge and The Mill from BN right now...the 10% off plus the Groupon giftcard from a few weeks ago... -
I've been holding back on buying this set. As someone brought up some time ago, I think the set goes together well with the new Creator Log Cabin. Since then I've been considering buying the two sets together at the same time but there are other higher priority sets I'm saving up for.

I'm liking it and have enjoyed each time you update on your progress. I'm not a cake eater or anything like that but your latest pic with the house on the plate made me think it was a cake at first .

I wouldn't mind working there but I'm not knowledgeable enough on Lego to be a good candidate plus I live on basically the opposite side of Toronto (wouldn't be worth it to make the daily commute),
-
That is an absolute steal to be able to get it at $125. Lucky you.
-
I think you might have misread ; I already bought Green Grocer some time last year before it went out of production.

I'm member #12946 which is not a set. Though if I search 1294, I'm some sort of Fire Helicopter that was a Japan exclusive: LINK If I search 2946, I get this set which I don't have a clue about: LINK

I'm currently considering the following options: 1) I have access to a 30% off coupon, and a $10 for $20 GC Groupon for Barnes & Noble online. I want to preorder the new Queen Anne set from the new Pirates of the Caribbean line and also Falling Water from the architecture series. Queen Anne is $107 ($120 regularly but they're offering 10% off for preorders) while the Architecture Falling Water set is $62.96 (regularly $90 but with the 30% off it becomes that price). Now I add in the $10 for $20 Groupon and altogether with shipping I'm paying $178.47 for the two. 2) Save up to buy the Grand Emporium which retails for $200 Canadian.

Same predictions as I do for the Canadian price. Makes it even more tempting for me to preorder from BN right now. The Mill is the set that's more favored for me at the moment (well of course QAR is much bigger and nicer but that's way above how much I can pay right now); with the 10% off the USD price is making me consider it a lot but money's tight at the moment (I've been wanting to save up for Diagon Alley from HP and also Grand Emporium). London Escape I want mostly because I get a good number of minifigures in that set despite it seeming "sparse". -
The MB version doesn't even look like they're using their "regular" bricks...I don't really buy MB but never hated it like others seem to have for it. Their version isn't bad but looks like there's too many "specialized" pieces (excuse my lack of "proper" terminology). The Lego version looks decent, hope it won't overpriced but I have a feeling it will be.

Your review showing me how minifigures seem to have little to no problem sitting in the cockpit has made me consider this set. If it ever goes on sale, I'm giving it some thought. Nice review.

Bump...I was wondering if anyone had any shots of this thing beside its other 2009 construction-site-themed set counterparts? Pictures with it being beside 7630 Front-End Loader, 7631 Dump Truck, 7685 Dozer and any of the other sets in that line. I tried searching Brickshelf but there weren't any pictures of it beside anything else. Or perhaps just someone can speak of the comparison in size to the other sets? I have the other 2009 construction sets and am somewhat tempted to buy this set from Lego S@H as it's currently 50% off for $19.99.

Wouldn't that overlap with the Green Grocer? Not sure if had "new" food pieces but it was a supermarket in a way (well more of a grocery store but whatever).
-
That reminds me of the police station from back in that old Lego Island PC game (the first one). Ahhh...time flies by so fast. I only have a few of the town sets from the 90s and such but same here, every time I see the classic town sets, I feel like I missed out on such cool sets.

I saw them just earlier. They're nice and I wanted one, but they're a bit overpriced at $10 each IMHO. Held back on purchasing one.

I posted this in the review thread for the Pizza Planet Truck Rescue but I'll post it here too: Bump...does anyone know where I can get 7598 Pizza Planet Truck Rescue in Canada? I know in the US it's a Target exclusive or something if I remember correctly but doesn't that usually translate to Zellers here in Canada (ie. the case with the 8403 Family Home I think)? S@H also has this on sale but is currently out of stock too...The main reason I want this set is mostly for the Rex figure and a little bit the Ham minifigure. I did a bit of calling around to some Zellers locations earlier but none of them seemed to carry it.

If you're talking about the largest discount of any sort I got for brand new from any retailer, I'd say my 10179 Ultimate Collector's Series Millennium Falcon. The Canadian Lego S@H site had an error on a Star Wars sale earlier this year where I think they gave something like 70% off instead what they were trying to set it at (which I believe was supposed to be like 30% instead). The Canadian retail for it was like $679.99. The price error allowed me to get it for like $200 with the shipping costs which is absolutely mind blowing. I read on some other forums that some people tried to place large orders of the Millennium Falcon and some other stuff that had the huge price error, which didn't end up working. Reading from others it seemed like they honoured up to 2 Millennium Falcons per an order and for all other other items in the sale that got affected. I would be shocked and quite happy if I ever get a discount that beats this one again . Like a lot of my sets, I still haven't had the time to open it up and build it. Finding anywhere in my apartment is also an "issue" I need to deal with before I even think about building it.

Very well done there! And so many Little Green Aliens! Do you know how many you ended up using?

Thread is slightly old but I'm chime in. I didn't get any of the Harry Potter sets until the most recent ones that came out this year. Currently out of these new sets I have The Burrow, Hagrid's Hut, and the new Hogwarts Express. I also wanna get Diagon Alley when it comes out but will have to save up for it (I think it's like $200 MRSP in Canada when it does come out). Two main reasons for this: the first one being that I simply did not really collect Lego much at all during that time (I was a young tween [12-14 years old] to teenager [the rest of my teenage years until about 17/18); was into Lego as a younger child, didn't really get back into the thick of it until the past year or 2, plus I didn't have money leftover from having summer jobs, etc). My second reason is that the older sets did not appeal to me. From a personal standpoint, City is the theme I love the most and these fantasy items did not really intrigue me. Looking at the Harry Potter sets that they have released in the past, there aren't really any sets that make me think "oh I wish I had bought that years ago" other than a couple, them being: 4756 Shrieking Shack, and 10132 Motorized Hogwarts Express. I also enjoy the books and the movies of this series and I guess the lead up to the most recent one.
