This is perfect. It is exactly the style I aim to achieve somewhere down the road. The subtle colors adds so much realism and fit well together.- 13 replies

Reminded me of sailing in the game, when a storm brews up. Especially the black shape in the middle. It caught me thinking, "Oh no, is that a cyclone forming?". I guess that feeling must be bad for sailors, even to this very day.. The game is set in the early 1700's. Lots of great inspiration. You visit a lot of the places that was in the series Black Sails. I recommend both. Also, I liked it best with the foamy parts. I think it adds depth and contrast. If you think they are too bright (I don't), try a few transparent clear instead of the white.

Yes, I like lego backdrops! I have been thinking about playing around some more with that. Yours came out nice. Cool change between different scales. Now I want to play some more Black Flag again (Assasins Creed).

I like your suggestion. I can think of a few other options also: -a Remove faction bonuses on properties. b Or have it cost/earn PIP/FIP to build in each related category (see Mike S quote - ESL Commercial & Factories, OL Art & Culture, SR a less %, but on all categories, COR educational) <-Change educational to Technology or add Factories for Corrington. c Or, both of the above. -Keep the other differences between factions. -Keep the Island bonuses, or maybe even add 1 bonus (or more) per island in order to give a few options to where you can place it if you want a bonus on it. Maybe have a minus or two to each settlement, so we have to explore with small builds, and then expand if it is a good bonus. Adds realism and excitement. Removing faction bonuses makes the factions less distinguishable. but it makes each player be more free to play with different ideas. - Mike S idea for the MRCA. "...then for example it could cost less points for the Sea Rats to go on a raid, Eslandola to go on a trade run, Corrington to go exploring, and Oleon by expanding their cultural influence." The only thing I am wondering about is, if every action costs, how does a new player start earning FIP/PIP/DBs? EDIT: That's not the only thing I am wondering about... For the record. As you say, depending on how they have the action choices set up, I like your thinking here. I've included a version for land based builds above, as well as your suggestion.

[Esl-FB] A Doctor for the Refugees in Puerto Desafio
Sir Stig replied to Tezclatipoca's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Everyone have pointed out all the neat little details. Lovely build, scene and location. Puerto Desafio will be a sight to behold. I second the compliment on the good doctors name Ayuda. Puerto Desafio needed somebody to take care of medical services. Not just anybody. And that someone is Doctor Ayuda. Sign up now for a free examination Compliments from Puerto Desafio. -
Will you still use Captain Mesabi, after getting... counted? I dig(ress) your humor. Captain Mesabis straightforwardness, or should I say complete lack of impulse control? You sure livened up the the Nova Malto affair (when he ate the horse still cracks me up whenever I think about it). I have noticed that I start to laugh even before I open your new posts. Nice family. Reminds me of home.

Excellent build, with mouth watering pastry. The bowl with dough is great, and the tail pieces for the sugar coating. [SR - FB 4 June 17] The Rogers Inn
Sir Stig replied to Professor Thaum's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I have no quarrel with the free men that call themselves Sea Rats. Your faction are actually the faction with closest resemblance to current Eslandolan policies (maybe not those Rats that have chosen the pirate trade). So, as long as there are no attacks on merchant fleets going to and from Puerto Desafio, there is no reason why we should not be mutually beneficial neighboors. Personally I offer my support against rude intruders anywhere -
[SR-FB 12] Shipwreck Bay (medium fort)
Sir Stig replied to Jacob Nion's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Wonderful! I love the wreckage, and the ratty attitude to finding uses for things that regular people abandon. Good use of resources that does not weigh down the investment portfolio. If you should ever need to buy upgrades, you are welcome to visit Puerto Desafio. As long as you follow Eslandolan law for the duration of your stay. What you do on your own time is no concern of mine, as long as we are on the same page. When I think about it, the Sea Rats and Eslandola have much of the same values. Freedom and opportunities. In lieu of recent developments I see no hinders for strengthening our relationship. Eslandolaons also have the need for recreational vacations, and I believe you may be able to provide just that, for the right price of course. -

In order to alleviate the lack of ceremonies after becoming a constitutional monarchy, Marquis Alkurda used the opportunity to present a gift to Captain Whiffo, as a token of gratitude that he stopped by. Alkurda knew the power of rituals, and even though he was very fond of his grandfathers sword, he did not have anything else of value close at hand. Despite his many years walking this earth, he had still not learned foresight. It was the hardest skill to learn of them all. Captain Whiffo was slightly put of by this gest. "Why would anyone give away something for nothing?", he though to himself. "Oh, well, it's free" he thought, almost letting go of the steam that had built up these last couple of days. "It says "Made in the Molokei Empires" on the hilt", Captain Whiffo said aloud as he noticed it. "You know as well as me, that we have been traders for longer than most can remember, so it is no wonder that we have connections all over the known world. This particular sword was made before they got a bad reputation for producing things cheap for us. Their craftmanship is remarkable, but the wages are far less for the same job. If we could only get the same wages for sailors, we could rule the world. Our sources say that lifes are not as much worth there as in our civilized part of the world. We have many many opportunities there. I know have many connections there, and know a lot of people. In fact, I know all of them." Presenting the sword After Alkurda had presented the sword, it was time for the entertainment. The fool played his role well. His inspiration had set the foundation for that (by instruction of the Marquis). Fool walks in with angry words and false flags Captain Whiffo seemed to be enjoying himself. So the fool tried to play a trick on them. He presented a newly crafted deck of cards, and said "Pick 5 cards, any card at all. Do not look at them until I say so.", the fool beckoned them. Pick a card, any card Then he shuffled the remaining cards behind his bak and drew 5 card himself, apparently at random. "Look at that, my four of a kind beats your house." the fool said. The Cheating Fools last trick "Ehm... I have a few objections to that", Marquis Alkurda objected. "First of all I drew my cards from a new deck. If you look at my hand I have two aces. Hearts and Spades. How come you have a ace of hearts and a ace of spades on your hand? Reason tells me you are playing this hand using dirty tricks and subterfuge in order to put me in a bad position. It would seem like that at first glance, but you are cheating. So this will unfortunately be your last trick as a fool against Eslandola." Captain Whiffo picked up on the que, and shot in "You entertained us well, but your tricks and showmanship can not alter the rules of the game, I will never see this fool perform on Elsandolan soil, ever again.". "It seems we are of same mind, Captain", Alkurda responded. " I shall see to it that he never tries to fool any other Eslandolans, or we have to contact the actors guild and inform them of the new taxes we are thinking of implementing. I am sure they would appreciate the information". The fool went away, with his tail between his legs. World is watching A messenger from the WGO-ESL veteran company, entered the room and informed the party that their troops had been denied entry to Nova Malto, but the medics were allowed inside, and that peace talks were ongoing. "What, peace talks? What for? We already have peace." Captain Whiffo exclaimed. "The human condition is a hard one to understand. Sometimes people have to learn the hard way. Sacrifices must be made. But in this particular matter, we are not the ones that have to give in. We have done all we can. It is all up to the Corries if they want to get out alive or not." the Marquis assured him. One way or the other What he did not tell anyone, was the struggle he had with his own conscience. One side of him said " Let it go, let Corrington dictate the rules. Let it go, Let it go. Why can't we be friends?" while the other side beckoned him to act on his impulses: "Make them pay. They did this to us for no reason. Give them their own medicine. Let there be bloooooooooooooooooooooooood!" Paaarty Of course we didn't kill the fool. We just withdrew his license to perform in Eslandola. What do you think we are? Savages? Even savages behave when they are only visitors on another countrys land. We fought for our right to party, and reserve the right to excempt anyone that is not in a party mood, Luckily, for the fool, he turned in time, and found out that the Beer Weelond had sent had the desired effect of strengthening morale and honesty became easier the more he drank. Before he knew it he had regained common sense, and saw the error of his ways.

This whole affair turns out to be the funniest occurence in BoBs so far. Super entertaining read. The action last night had me running between an introduction build for Marquis Alkurda (with special guest Captain Whiffo) and the forum to follow the peace talks. (I am still waiting for conditions to take the pictures). Then this. I hadn't had as much fun in years. I almost jumped in my seat when the grape shot was fired. Good timing and placement of text and pictures. Perfect execution. I am almost starting to miss King Fernando. This shows that he does not let Eslandola take crab from anyone... Or, well, he just did quadruple pun intended. Perhaps we need to give him a more prominent role in our Constitutional Monarchy. Nice boat also

He made that easy. That's an awesome first ship ketch! I don't know the technicalities of ships, but the round 1x1 brown on the mast (especially the horizontal ones) are very visually pleasing. Fitting choice of head, hear, attire and posing on the doctor and assistant. And I am always jealous of sand green anything...

WGO-ESL troops responds to the Disaster in Malto
Sir Stig replied to Sir Stig's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Marquis Alkurda, the newly appointed mayor of Puerto Desafio, reacted and objected strongly when he heard what was going on in Nova Malto, and let his views be known with a letter. This was sent prior to Eslandola's receipt of Corringtons most recent letter. To Don Isaac Montoya, consul and representative of Queen Annetta, it saddens me to see Corringtons disregard for our superiority on Isla de Victoria. When news arrived of your humanitarian effort, we were baffled Trifold. First, we appreciated the help, and were talking about ways to give you access to study the rich flora and fauna on the island, whilst respecting the native territories. Secondly, because you think we would prosecute those Mardier left behind, without housing or crops to sustain themselves. Mardier did that to their own citizens, not Eslandola. They have more to fear from their former and other foreign empires than us. Eslandola have always cared for the natives, the poor and the unfortunate. And we have been merchants for centuries, with diplomatic experience from trading with all kinds. Our trade companies know that they have to adhere to the laws of whatever land they are operating in. So should yours. Secondly, you demanded a demilitarized neutral zone, then disregard that designation by taking the fort, moving your troops and claiming territorial control as a protectorate. Third and foremost, using the humanitarian crisis as a decoy for your own gains were not what I had expected from gentlefigs of Corrington. Your self-proclaimed role as judges of high morale, and especially your practice of it, are not only condescending towards the diverse population of Eslandolan, but to all citizens of the world. Eslandolans are tired of war, and this time, when we more than ever need a time of peace and stability, you decide to act under false pretenses. It is slightly flattering that Corrington see Eslandola as such a threat, but your contrasting follow up off your words, and aggressive, stubborn approach, forces us into a corner. There is still time to turn, and find a peaceful solution, with an act of humility. If you choose to keep your minds closed, let it be known that although we are tired, the fire of Eslandola burns within our hearts, and we will not let our prosperity be hindered by an empire that would rather see the wealth in their Queens pockets than empower the peoples freedom and possibillties to create something of their own. We are sending in a WGO doctor, escorted by two WGO-ESL assistants to assess the situation, at dawn tomorrow. They will be unarmed. Marquis Alkurda, Mayor of Puerto Desafio OOC: This was prepared in the heat of the moment, but it reflects (IC) the Eslandolan reaction to being denied access to their own land, and to being downplayed by an established empire. I put some work and though into it, and want it to be part in the lore, whichever way this goes. Since the actions so far are part of the lore, I am onboard for playing it out.- 5 replies

[MRCA] The Death Of Captain Morgan
