Tiptoe Through The Wheat Field
Sir Stig replied to Captain Braunsfeld's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Like the others have said, very effective wheat field. This is the kinda stuff I can't fathom. I obsess with copying the real thing, part by part, but all that matters are getting the desired visual effect. This is how soldiers will perform when they are taught not to think for themselves. That's why Eslandola rely on militia and hired men. Oh, and it also saves a lot on training costs- 9 replies

I wrote the wrong percentage on my last two property licences. It should be 15, not 20% extra. And an additional commerce bonus on the small warehouse (but the faction bonuses are automated right?)

Too Much Monkey Business
Sir Stig replied to Captain Braunsfeld's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
How dare she claim there are monkeys in the colonial council? There have clearly been only apes in the counvil! (Discworld reference) Does Lady Asma April also take over the colonial duties? How will the colonial council manage with the transition? Does she have enough support to exempt monkeys/apes in the colonial council? Who will then lead us forward? Stay tuned. Oh, I obviously like the story. But also the windows and the corner with shield, colored window and paintings position on the wooden/stone wall. -
You see the elegance of the Oleon carriage even better from the side. Their craftmanship must have been influenced by Eslandolans, using intricate and well chosen details to take the eye away from less total amount of materials used? (mass, not number of pieces).

Design-a-BoBS-Logo-and-Banner Community Project
Sir Stig replied to Kolonialbeamter's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I scribled a few sketches for logo ideas. These are my thoughts about each idea: First one: shape of sails. Second one: shading (and possibly better hull angle). Third one: tried to incorporate the letters b-o-b-s. Fourth: just a derelict barrel with a few cloth sails on. Fifth: a raft with some elements from each faction. If one wants waves in the logo, rolling waves like in picture 4, running dog pattern, or something japanese-art-ish like in picture 1 or 2, is what I can think of atm. [I'll add a reference for what I am thinking of here, since my drawings are not showing it clearly] I could not find the one I was thinking about... These are loose ideas. If anyone wants to pick parts from any, play around, alter or add anything, please do. I don't have vector skills. -
Shipwrights Guild Hall (WIPs, feedback, and advice)
Sir Stig replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Ok, so this is what I've come up with. Nothing is fastened. I just placed them haphazardly in the positition they might be. I think I will work a bit more on the curving of the gun deck and make the forecastle partly grey instead of black. The round red piece can be disregarded (the fence was first placed on top in an attempt to make the first 7 look like a 1, so it would say 1597), and think a smaller fence could look better. It kinda dwarfs the size of her when they are so big. Should I tilt the forecastle steeper? Edit: Oh, and I am thinking of stealing all the sails from the QAR. Rigging is not my first priority. I have to make decent hulls first. Edit 2: accidentally removed a picture. -

MKJoshas suggestion is very distinct and fitting. I don't know if how free we are to use it unmodified though? I also find the Kraken design mysterious and alluring. -
The Empire of Corrington: Sign-up and Discussion
Sir Stig replied to SkaForHire's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I have to congratulate you with coming up with the idea of making Myzectlan into a settlement. You have my attention. If I ever feel like building in that style, I now know where it would fit. Clever. Very clever. Not envious at all.- 897 replies

Challenge V - Princes of Garvey - RESULTS POSTED!
Sir Stig replied to Garmadon's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Yes! You mentioned this before, I am glad you brought it up again. This is a good reminder, because I appreciate constructive feedback myself. And most of the time I try to get better with building techniques, positioning (not so much skill with photography yet...). But some times, I build just for fun. It is relieving to let go of the perfectionism/achievement pressure I so easily lay on myself sometimes. Actually, many of those builds are what I have been most satisfied with. Still, constructive feedback are always welcome. I find it easier to comment on things to improve, if it is mentioned in the post that constructive feedback is welcome. I will put that in the back of my mind, and see if I remember it when posting myself. Actually, any suggestion to what may have looked good in any given build does not even need to be critique. But it may be scary to suggest things, out of fear that the recipient will take it as critique. But I've learned that this forum are mild mannered and lighthearted, even when things are on fire, so no need to worry. If anyone was worried.- 164 replies

Oh, do I sense a transition coming.... Awfully ratty behavior there Nice Good scene, and story! I wonder if a few stones (1x1 round plates), a crab, or something with a contrasting color/hue on the beach could look good.

The Eslandolan Way - Parliament Hall, Eslandola
Sir Stig replied to Garmadon's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Cool version of Elostirions Parliamentary hall. The dark brown was what caught my attention most as well, but I really like the small steps up to the corner as well. And nice that you managed to include so many of the representatives. The first steps of this signing is already in motion.- 8 replies

Is it much work to include a small picture (maybe with link to the entry) of each submitted build when posting challenge results? It is sometimes hard to remember every build, and even harder to find it again.

Shipwrights Guild Hall (WIPs, feedback, and advice)
Sir Stig replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Ok, slow progress are still progress. I've gone from 18 wide, added slightly over 1 on each side. so 20+ wide. How does the proportions look, and approximately where should I put the masts? I went with the earlier suggestion of building an open style carrack, and redid the bowspring. I also extended the outside hull addition lengthwise. I think the improvements made her lines better. Is the open solution still the way to go, and/or should I add fore and/or aftcastles? The deck as she sits now, I expect will be same height as the bottom of the gunports. Any other advices on how to proceed are also most welcome. -

[Ch V Cat E] The El Dorado Ritual
Sir Stig replied to Tezclatipoca's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Well, gold never really disappears. There must be a way to extract that gold from the lava.... Lava smolders, gold melts. Hades knows how many centuries of refined gold are in that volcano. I don't see where losing comes into the picture. Those natives have done a good job securing the gold from those that let natives suffer and exploit their riches without honoring their local traditions. I am not sure most people understand just how much Eslandolans know about precious metals and minerals. And anything precious really. But our values are also on our peoples culture (Musicians fair, Weelond Octoberfest, MAESTROS effort for the Tenoxchlaxsans (however it is spelled?!), etc) and the culture of the people we encounter. *this is where we pat eachothers backs*- 15 replies
