  1. So turns out the preview pages for each account are randomized... so everyone should be getting a bit of the story - which a few people are already piecing together. Which pages do people here have?
  2. Managed to track it down today on Bricklink, so now completed the 2015 current mask collection (3 exclusives + Hero pack + all from the normal sets) To be honest, dreading something like this might happen with the Mask Of Ultimate Power given we have'nt seen the details on it so it could end up being a plain mask for all we know, especially given it was only made as a vessel for the elemental powers. If your prediction comes true it'd make sense for it to be about the Mask Of Ultimate Power.
  3. So keeping this on topic with the 2015 sets, has anyone attempted any customs, as just saw this and thought a custom paint job would work wonders on the scare factor :P Hopefully, just a matter of finding them in time i guess.
  4. Not sure, been trying to find places selling it and somone posted a link to the store selling it (was in france) but the item had already sold. Thats fine, just trying to find one i can get myself. Money isnt really a factor, just a matter of tracking it down. Want to try and get all the masks each year ><
  5. Anyone spot the transparent gali mask? I know one was sold on Bricklink and another sold via Ebay... still trying to track it down
  6. The animation style has changed likely, so it could be that. In addition; - Onua, Kopaka and Tahu all have noticeable back armour that is lacking on the official sets, the gold also appears slightly darker on the toa though that might be due to lighting - Slicer is more bulky at the upper back and only has two of his three swords, attached to his back in a way that is not possible on the actual set. The chest is also less detailed than the actual set - Grinder has a bulkier chin and bulkier horns, he can lift his weapon and has his sword attached to his back in a way that is not possible on the actual set. The chest is also less detailed than the actual set - Skull Warrior is thinner, his bone pieces are both dark and light grey and his upper arms are black along with his main CCBS body. The chest is also less detailed than the actual set. Along with some of his character models being flipped in some shots. - Basher is the most altered. His mask is noticeably thinner while his horns are bulked out to look like they are attached to his head, similar to the other skull warriors he has a lot of black areas to fillout the body and give a much more alive/human/better proportioned appearance. Some of his gunmetal/grey armour is now orange and his shoulder orange pieces/spikes have been completely ignored/removed I think the main differences are with the Skull Warriors, they likely attempted the skeletal design and realised it didnt work for the bulky proportions and thus filled in space with lots of black pieces. To demonstrate here is a rough version of Basher 'fixed' without the additional black shading to cover the gaps and without the orange shoulder pieces that were removed in the animation shot we saw;
  7. It appears they take the masks and wear them so they gain a power boost, via wearing them or simply because they are no longer on the Toa, the masks then begin to lose power - atleast thats how it appears with Slicer wearing Lewa's mask of Jungle.
  8. Winter wave wanted to convince you to get the Toa by including conflict in a box along with there normal and empowered masks Summer wave wanted to convince you to get the Toa also by including blended masks for the Toa If we get Toa again at some stage i'd guess they would only include the two masks. Unless we get more smaller enemies like the Skull Spiders in future. Merlin finished his work on writing them in April, though they've probably had character designs finalised before that given we got summer set leaks back in January/February so we know the sets were finalised very early in the year. Chances are the character designs for the new characters were all completed early on. Its a shame we dont have someone who works on the designs to explain why certain designs were chosen, though i'd hazard a guess that they wanted to differentiate the masks between the villains more than the sets do.
  9. Grabbed this off the thumbnail, its the largest version i can get, but yeah... thats Ekimu :)
  10. Link? :3 I think this could get confusing if both powered up and powered down masks have a similar look to them, though could explain why some have a mix between transparent and gold and others are fully transparent.
  11. To be fair the Transparent Hau, Trans-orange Hau and the recent Skull Scorpio Mask can all be gotten fairly easily in the second-hand market on sites like Ebay or Bricklink. Though i agree immensely about the Gali mask being too exclusive, missed my opportunity to get it earlier and hoping for it to appear online again Yeah, saw that auction also, unfortunately was after it had ended otherwise i might have gotten it for collectors sake. Hope it appears online again. As for the SDCC masks, how do people even get duplicates of exclusive masks like this? There's someone on Ebay selling six of the Skull Scorpio masks... :L
  12. Might be trying to track down some of the exclusive masks, though feel it's impossible due to the exclusive nature of the Gali mask How many of the Scorpio masks were there though? as if there is less then could be more difficult to track down.
  13. I'm guessing he is referring to the following; Though personally i think we may see a break from Ninjago until the movie - which had the following plotline released when it was originally going to be out in 2016;
  14. I can understand not copying and obviously i am not expecting the paradigm daleks, its not the type of Dalek i have issue with but the lack of effort put into the design of the Daleks. The Cybermen they atleast got the helmet right and made it as a new piece showing they put in effort but with the Daleks they've just used an incredibly generic flawed design that fans have been using for years with no new pieces (only a printed piece) Granted new pieces are not everything, but if we had gotten a better base then it would have atleast been something. Its just, its not even the best fan design out there as fans realised it was better having a 1 width piece in the middle rather than two ages ago and made a thinner, sleeker variant. Which also allowed both arms to move rather than just one. In terms of Lego Daleks this one is a step back to be honest, the only thing that may be of use to fans is the printed piece. Hopefully we do get a better version in the ideas set, though honestly i doubt we will unless they went with a variant version === Though i suppose its a case where they went with one of the ideas versions which wasnt the best choice for a Dalek design, just means i wont be army building the Daleks i guess.
  15. The Dalek looks terrible, hopefully its only because it seems to be based on the older version in Victory Of The Daleks. Fingers crossed we get a much different version in the actual Ideas set/sets that look better - really disappointed by the Dalek. The Cybermen look alright, though the Iron Man esque body (Caused by Nightmare In Silver) has made them feel too similar to the recent Iron Man figures. Worried it wont have the opening mask function that has been shown-off a lot in the show recently. Getting War Machine vibes from the design, so much so that i expect a similar body design for the War Machine in 'Civil War' Oh and the Weeping Angels btw;
  16. Something has been bugging me recently, we know the three main masks are likely going to be coming out at an annual pace. Though what about the Mask Of Time? Not the G1 Mask Of Time, but the Mask that has been mentioned one or twice as being used at the Temple Of Time to summon the Toa. Are we going to see it eventually? If so, will we get it in set form? When? Feel that would have just made the orange clash even more with the sets other than Grinder
  17. Just wish we had names, details and actual locations its better than simply knowing that there is an Arena somewhere on Okoto. I mean the Graveyard we can guess is somewhere in the ancient city, but it'd be nice to know exact places I thought the oceanic crater was the one with the whirlpool where Gali found her golden mask?
  18. Personally i let Basher get a pass most the time due to the mechanism (Atleast it shows someone put effort into the design). What'd you dislike about him? Ah, ok, thanks. Hopefully Summer will give us more location details
  19. So, been wondering, does Okoto have any landmarks or locations detailed yet? Wondering how much we know about the Island before the Summer wave
  20. That makes the third, the first being the clear hau, the second being the trans gali mask and now the trans scorpio mask. While i like exclusives, i fear its putting off collectors as its going to get more difficult to get a complete set. Wonder if we'll get transparent masks for the rest of the summer villains also then?
  21. To be fair an 'endless sleep', 'endless dreaming' and 'eternal sleep' have also been used to refer to death many times in the real world. I guess the 'endless sleep' in G1 was a Coma, though with the mention of 'laying Ekimu to rest' in G2 there is a bit of debate as to whether it is another Coma. I enquired with him about the nature of the Protectors, the chronological progression, and things about the timeline structure with Merlin when i was working on Bionicle Abridged with him in February. The full interaction concerning the previously qouted segment was the following; "In addition, I have a query, not sure if you are allowed to answer due to story information... but just wondering; Are the Protectors that summoned the Toa the same ones that are helping the Toa, or are they descendants?" - Me "As long as it's part of the story that's already been released, it should be fine for me to answer. And yes. The story states that at least a thousand years have passed, and thus several generations of villagers. This is also why the legend talks about passing the prophecy. So the protectors we see in the present are descendants of the ones laying Ekimu to rest." - Merlin Just clarifying the current story aspects really.
  22. Thebrickfan covered the San Diego Comic Con 2015 Schedule and unfortunately Bionicle is not listed under the product reveals. While it may still appear there i think the main interest to us will be the chance for more Star Wars Ultra Build Force Awakens figure reveals on Saturday, which could hint towards pieces we may get in the 2016 Winter Wave. --- As far as the mask skull situation is concerned, given they are indeed masks it seems they either; - Gained new masks that look like skulls after being resurrected, which raises the question of where/how they got the masks and who made the masks given Ekimu and Makuta are out the picture - Always had masks that look like skulls, which would mean they always had a skull vibe even when they were alive - Had masks that decayed leaving the skull-looking masks, though that means masks can decay over-time raising the question of how long a mask can last before its decayed and what they looked like before the masks decayed Either way feel it leaves a bunch of questions to be answered and i'm not sure we'll get an answer Not sure if this helps, but a qoute from Merlin was the following; "So the protectors we see in the present are descendants of the ones laying Ekimu to rest." The wording 'laying Ekimu to rest' i guess could be taken to imply he died when the explosion hit him. Though that doesnt explain the mask replacement and his communications with the Toa. As for whether a mask removal can kill a Bionicle character - i doubt it as the Toa remove there masks to switch to the golden masks. Then again it could be like the Bane meme floating around where they need a mask to provide something that keeps them alive and must have a mask on a majority of the time, prolonged exposure leading to them falling into a coma which could be another way of explaining Ekimu's situation.
  23. Only Slicer's makes sense to me as he is being controlled by the Skull Spider... the rest dont make sense unless their masks are the remains of their masks that have degraded over time. Even that option seems a little convoluted though as it implies Slicer and Basher have the same mask originally despite being different creatures. Though i suppose they could establish later that they are not masks but are actually meant to be the real skull with the underneath skull simply being ignored.
  24. The issue is more the acknowledgement that practically every other character this year other than the Toa and Kulta likely wont matter in the long haul. The developed lore for the characters is weakened when one realises that without a name they likely wont have an important effect on the plot. Will anyone care for the manipulated and resurrected Skull Slicer the ancient champion fighter adored by all of Okoto if he is not given a name? To be honest thats probably why he has amnesia so they can explain why he doesnt have a name as he cannot remember. Its just that in a couple of years time when the story has reached its concluding battle with the Toa fighting against Makuta or whatever dark force inhabits the mask of Ultimate Power - few newer fans will look back and remember any of the characters other than the Toa as they'll all have been nameless horde creatures or characters with unportrayed lore that lack a name.
  25. I like some aspects and the idea of combining the skull villains, but it comes off very disproportionate Nice artwork, hopefully we see more. Everyone should like and encourage them to post more on Facebook so we get more concept art :3 Would be nice to see and could allow for a lot of new sets, though cant picture CCBS water villains... just keep getting reminded of Aquagon
