  1. Doubt it, they know Castle is one of the longest themes and the reality is that different subthemes of castle appeal to different audiences - some are focused on knights, some blend aspects of fantasy, others are focused on the medieval aspects like jousting. As mentioned, all the other options are already getting a set. Pirates, Castle and Space will all have a Lego Ideas set out and available. It makes no sense for Lego to ignore the popularity of Bionicle in the first poll, especially when they now have a 'get out of jail card' by simply adapting a singular set which they get to test in a new style, seeing if it is possible for them to adapt Bionicle at all without relying on CCBS or Constraction pieces. The top three (potentially 4) themes would give Lego the choice and they already had plans for Pirates, Castle and Space... so Bionicle is the only option they did not have plans for. Therefore it makes sense for them to adapt Bionicle in a singular set. That way every one of the top three (4?) themes would be active and adapted in some form for 2022, maybe even the top 5 considering Trains is currently active.
  2. Potentially Either way could work, I like the idea of Lego having an understanding of the community and having already had a plan on how to please mostly everyone I definitely think I might be onto something with the idea of 2020's each have a planned remake of an old set and an Ideas set that fits the theme - it's probably just Lego picking an Ideas set first and then making an associated $100 set but it's still a neat thing if it continues. Means that when an Ideas set is selected, if it matches a previous Lego theme, then we'd get both the ideas set along with potentially another set or wave of sets focused around the theme in the future. I would not be surprised if Western/Wild West ends up being one of these, it was absent from the poll. Pirates: 2020 Castle: 2021 Space: 2022 Western?: 2023 While everyone is distracted by the 90th anniversary poll nobody would realise or notice that 2020 to 2030 would have a classic theme set remake each year under the Ideas theme and/or a $100 set associated with the theme. Time the 100th anniversary rolls around you have already spent the last 10 years making a remake of sets from your 10 most popular themes to show that you can bring them back at any point if fans like them another, along with demonstrating the companies growth in regards to set designing.
  3. This will be a big post, lol, but here is a breakdown for you all: The reality is that Lego will look at the top themes and make sets based around those over the next decade or so because they have a known audience By splitting castle in the first round it allowed them to find the most popular subtheme of Castle to know the best method of making castle sets in future By adding castle to the final vote, it demonstrates that Lego acknowledges the popularity of Castle In terms of the 90th Anniversary set, it is going to be Bionicle Theory Time :P By splitting Castle they performed analysis on the most popular Castle themes, and in the process meant that out of a 'top three' chances are you would likely vote for the long running themes. Other long lasting old themes similarly were either removed or not given a chance such as Fabuland, Dacta, Scala Effectively the longest running themes became: Bionicle Town Trains Pirates Space Town & Trains are still continuing in the form of City and Creator Expert, along with varying elements in other versions. As such voting for them would never manage to surpass Pirates & Space which were always a surefire bet. So Lego effectively had narrowed it down to a single theme, whichever theme was on the poll regardless of popularity that was not Pirates or Space (Which had pre-planned sets) would be released as the 90th anniversary set. Pirates fans would be happy because of 2020 Ideas set and $100 set Castle fans would be happy because of 2021 Ideas set and $100 set Space fans would be happy because of 2022 Ideas set and $100 set I would not be surprised if Lego continues this trend for the rest of the 2020's - each year including an Ideas Set and a $100 set based on a theme I'm not saying the poll was rigged... but it was always going to be swayed by how much individual fans had been exposed to the varying themes and that naturally results in longer length themes being more likely to be voted for. Pirates, Castle and Space were never going to be the 90th anniversary set because they had planned revamped sets for 2020, 2021 and 2022 respectfully already. It would make no sense for Lego to adapt any of these for the 90th when they showed up barely a year or so prior and clearly are popular enough to get brought back without focus. The 90th anniversary set could have gone to anyone, but statistically speaking it is more likely to go to a long running theme and if Bionicle had not been included, the third place for Lego's 90th anniversary would have been a train set. Would Lego want trains, a current active theme, to represent them for the 90th anniversary? To be associated with a form of model train building? Lego, the pinacle of creativity depicted for its 90th anniversary building model trains? Nothing against Trains, but it simply was not going to happen because of marketing purposes at least not for the 90th anniversary. You'll definitely get more sets in future though, so be happy with that :) Why Bionicle is the only option: Throwing Bionicle into the mix was a brilliant choice by Lego because it is one of the first and most well known Lego IP - that is also prominant in the 2000's. Appealing to AFOL's with revamped sets from the pre-2000's is generally easy, but catching the attention of a younger audience is difficult and Lego knows this. As such they are going to try once again to see if Bionicle can catch the modern audience, this time with more focus than before and likely in a different format than before. It's a single set allowing them to try something new with the concept (as its almost certainly not going to be constraction) so if it goes poorly they simply can dismiss it and never touch it again. In the meantime the media can promote the set with the story of how Bionicle helped save Lego or how the theme itself was inspired by the co-creators battle with health (tumor at the base of his brain) and chose instead to use his passion to create and strive to inspire others - a great message for the times we have experienced recently. If you are celebrating the 90th anniversary what better way to do so than with an example of your own creativity in a theme than encaptulated the very essence of what you are trying to accomplish with your brand?
  4. I'd lean towards a potential 2022 D2C being the Infinity Gauntlet as it would be the 10th Anniversary of Marvel MCU Lego and also the 10th Anniversary of the Avengers film. Seems like a perfect time to celebrate Avengers with a potential legacy wave or associated D2C. This is true, it would be wise to lower expectations regarding figures. The Helicarrier is the only thing we can really compare in the Marvel line-up and that featured 5 figures and a bundle of nano/microfigures. That's likely the max we will get and it's much more likely that a D2C would primarily be a display set, meaning less figures. Am I the only one who would be fine with a $300 Quinjet that's roughly 2 or 3 times the size of the Quinjets we have been getting so you can actually fit in the Avengers team? :p I'd be fine on this if it was an improvement over the previous version, knee articulation and a range of new pieces would definitely help and they've clearly learned a lot about Lego mechs over the years. Worst case scenario it'd be a nice parts pack to work on and potentially fix the printed head issue of being too much of a dome. A larger scale and a higher piece count would also allow for better detailing, give them more of a way of making the concept work. They labelled it the 'Hulkbuster: Ultron Edition' and I remember joking about how a potential Infinity War D2C would simply be a slightly bigger version based on the Hulkbuster 2.0 (At the time remarking on an 'exploding chest/Hulk' feature)
  5. Nah, just speculating, lol. I still expect the D2C to be Avengers Tower, they have adapted that several times and I'm expecting a Hulkbuster situation where they will just give us a D2C variant that everyone wanted but winds up not being accurate xD While this is true, they did adapt the Hulkbuster and that had previously appeared for only 4 minutes of screentime in Age Of Ultron before we got a D2C. In terms of the 2018 lesser focused vehicles: The Q-Ship was a big factor in Infinity War's marketting The Sanctuary II had more screentime than the most screentime, but admittedly that was primarily in Avengers Endgame which likely would not have factored into the D2C process The Statesman had a lot of screentime in Thor Ragnarok but was not particularly relevant to the MCU beyond that film (and the opening moments of Avengers: Infinity War) At the time that Lego would be adapting the D2C from (roughly 2018/early 2019) the Milano had appeared in two full movies and the Benetar had only appeared in Infinity War. While it makes more sense to adapt the new ship, the Milano had more focused and is arguably the more iconic ship. In addition, James Gun has remarked that the Milano may end up returning in some form in the future. The Shield Helicarrier was released in March 2015 retired in November 2017 The Hulkbuster: Ultron Edition was released in March 2018 retired in December 2019 A D2C Milano could be released in March 2021 and retired in November 2023, allowing for coverage of both the Guardians Of The Galaxy Christmas Special (2022) and Guardians Of The Galaxy 3 (2023) I can also see Lego being much more likely to adapt a set that features a bright blue and yellow Milano rather than the bright orange and grey of the Benetar, would require a lot of pieces in a colour they do not tend to use much elsewhere. While possible the general implication of the Endgame Lego Wave was that Lego were not given enough concept art for the movie prior, possibly to avoid spoilers about the film being released. A D2C being released in 2021 would need to have been in design/concept stage around 2018. 2012's Avengers resulted in 2015's Shield Helicarrier. 2015's Age Of Ultron resulted in 2018's Hulkbuster: Ultron Edition. Lego seemingly had very little to go off in regards to Endgame in 2018/2019 which is why the waves were very innacurate, as far as I can tell they were informed of: Quinjet, potentially with concept art of the Quinjet provided to them The Avengers Compound having some focus The new Iron Man suit The new War Machine suit (maybe early concept of a War Machine Hulkbuster?) That Thanos would be back with the Infinity Gauntlet and have a new army of Chitauri, Outriders and Leviathans That Captain Marvel would be involved in the final battle in some form Time Travel/Quantum Realm suits (presumably working from the concept art of everyone wearing it) Stark Gauntlet & Rescue (Presumably they were informed of this later as the set including these elements did not release until November 2019) Aspects such as the Sanctuary II are potentially possible, as that featured in Ragnarok & Infinity War so Lego would likely have had enough concept art lying around and I'm sure Marvel/Disney could have informed them that the ship would return in Endgame without giving away too much information. It's more likely that you'd get an Endgame wave or set rather than the D2C being Endgame related, as Lego waves/sets can get into production a lot quicker and generally have a turnaround time of one or two years which would allow for Endgame to fit into the potential basis for the Avengers wave this summer... though obviously this is just wishful thinking :p
  6. I think people are missing that if this is indeed based on Ragnarok it could be a chance to get a lot of figures that fans desperately wanted such as: Surtur (Likely Brick Built) Odin Thor (Eye patch) Valkyrie (Bridge battle outfit) Loki (Variant hair/crown combo) Korg Meik (In some form) Etc... Nano/Microfig scale similar to 71043 would be the most likely with a couple of figures related to the Thor franchise (Odin, Eyepatch Thor, Korg, etc...) - if built in such a scale you could potentially throw in a brick built Surtur figure to replicate him destroying Asgard. Either that or imagine an Asgard themed verison of 71040 Disney Castle, just with a rainbow bridge segment that keen fans could expand on.
  7. I'm very heavily leaning to a February 17th reveal of the D2C for a March release at this point, similar to the Hulkbuster: Ultron Edition, especially if Korg is a part of the D2C. Would make sense to get a leak a month or so prior I can easily see them doing a Rexcelsior style build for the Statesman - which is why personally I do not want it to be the D2C. It's general design is very box-like despite the fins. I'd prefer the much more intriguing design of the Sanctuary II, perhaps with a microscale version of the Statesman for scale. Figures along the lines of Thanos, Thor with his one eye, Korg, Valkyrie, etc... With that said, we saw very little of the interior of the Sanctuary II. As such I cannot see it being more than a display model if we were to get it. The Statesman would make more sense for playability purposes as I can picture opening up segments such as a command deck. I'm still keeping expectations low, it makes more sense that this D2C would be Avengers Tower and this is just a very early leak from the production line of what was going to be the Thor Love & Thunder sets we would have gotten in October (Movie was originally scheduled for November 2021) Maybe we'll be lucky and it's a legacy Avengers wave, but we'll see...
  8. Not yet. As far as comments here, it was originally suggested it was 12 figures, but we were led to believe that it might not be 12. CMF is not released till August apparently, so we will see what happens. We've yet to get leaks for any of the Summer wave of sets or the D2C - so perhaps it is just too early for leaks of the CMF figures.
  9. If accurate then April now seems to be the release date for the Shang Chi sets. A polybag was unexpected, will be interesting to see if it's a variant of Shang Chi or just a repeated version from one of the other sets. The remark 'main character' rather than designating Shang Chi is interesting, but for the moment shall consider it to be Shang Chi rather than one of the other characters. Have updated the list with the polybag and dates. Lego Ninjago would be our best example of what to expect given the description of 'Main character and dragon' polybag, examples would be akin to 30294, 30422, 30535, etc... Personally I hope they go with a Dragon design like below if it's meant to represent a mini Fin Fang Foom.
  10. 29th January: 76042: The SHIELD Helicarrier was revealed on this date in 2015 17th February: 76042: The SHIELD Helicarrier was released on this date in 2015. 76105: The Hulkbuster: Ultron Edition was revealed on this date in 2018 3rd March: 76105: The Hulkbuster: Ultron Edition was released on this date in 2018 Given we have passed 29th January, could we see the Lego Marvel D2C be revealed on the 17th February for a potential March release like the Hulkbuster Ultron Edition? Or are we waiting longer? @Falconfan1414 Leaning towards this also based on rumours about the movie. Hopefully Superbowl will give us a teaser trailer for it. Mandarin is in the movie... apparently the real one this time so fingers crossed Would be a neat Lego Easter Egg if they include a reference to the previous set somehow.
  11. As far as I can tell the date of May was due to Shang Chi at one point being scheduled for a May 7th 2021 release. If the film keeps its July release date, then maybe I can see the sets being released in May still depending on how spoiler heavy they are.
  12. Plot twist... Legacy Avengers Movie Sets -evil laughter- :P /s In all seriousness, hope they are good but no interest at the moment if they are based on the comics or the game rather than the movies. Was unaware Shang Chi had a release planned, added it to the list and the comment. That said, I feel it could be delayed given the movie is not out till July. Derped on the date, fixed it. Was generally covering till around the middle of the year to get a general sense of what to expect over the next few months in regards to releases, we could still see leaks or images of the other sets that were at one stage listed in 1HY but generally just a guide for release dates. I have removed the 1HY/2HY from the list as it no longer seems to apply given dates shifting heavily.
  13. List has been updated again For those wondering 'When Lego?' here is a rundown of the releases to expect next: First Half Of The Year: 76178: Marvel D2C $299.99 May: 76187: Carnage Head Bust $69.99 (565 Pieces) (18+) (Potentially dependent on Venom 2 film release) 76176: Shang Chi $29.99 (Potentially dependent on Shang Chi film release) 76177: Shang Chi $39.99 (Potentially dependent on Shang Chi film release) June: 76186: $39.99 (202 Pieces) Avengers Theme 76189: $9.99 (49 pieces) (4+) Avengers Theme 76190: $39.99 (479 pieces) Avengers Theme 76192: $69.99 (527 pieces) Avengers Theme 76193: $149.99 (1901 pieces) Avengers Theme
  14. Your remark speaks to a lack of familiarity with the original theme and potentially a desire to blame an aspect that never was a problem with the sets for why you think they cannot return. Nobody wants that, nobody is suggesting that and Lego have never done that and likely would never do that. The Western theme never depicted Native Americans/Indians in opposition to any person either. The subtheme of Western, Indians, depicted them as facing threats of nature such as a boulder falling but the primary threat to them was depicted as Snakes, which were the main threat in six of the eight sets. The subtheme of Western, Cowboys, depicted them as facing internal threats such as bandits. Lego can easily adapt Native Americans/Indians again and the easiest method of them doing so is arguably the exact same way they did in the past, by depicting them as peaceful with no human conflicts in-tune with nature with the only threats being environmental or perhaps a natural threat such as an animal. Sadly, the people who want Castle back did not see Nexo Knights for what it was. Lego testing the waters on the popularity of Castle by combining it with another theme, in this case Space & Fantasy. Nexo Knights which was Space + Castle + Fantasy failed, so Lego is wondering why that happened. They gave it a show, they gave it funding, they gave it marketting. They provided people with lots of Castle elements and varying adaptations of the classic castle design and yet it still underperformed. So the best thing to do is split up the Castle segment on the poll to find out which parts of Castle resonate most with people to determine if the Castle aspects were not what people wanted from Castle - and what it found was people want Classic Castle, Forestmen, Imperials, Black Knights and Dragon Knights. Combine this with the potential popularity of the Lego Ideas Medieval Blacksmith and chances are the next Castle iteration will be Medieval inspired - perhaps with a touch more Fantasy/Nature.
  15. Shame it took so long, but glad we are getting some focus on the Lego Marvel side of things. Hopefully the sets are amazing. Added the Calendar to the list. It's possible this was the mystery $29.99 (298 piece) set given that around 300 pieces is the average for Lego Advent Calendars.
  16. WandaVision finishes March 5th. If a potential set were to include spoilers, chances are the sets release would be timed for after the series has been completed. Remember the source is that 'Marvel Must Haves' will include Lego in some form... It does not necessarily mean Disney+ sets even though everyone leaped on that as an option. While it does open up the possibility of Disney+ sets, It may simply be that they intend to use 'Marvel Must Haves' as a method of advertising other Lego sets such as the movie sets, D2C, CMF series, etc... As far as I know, we have no confirmation of any Disney+ Marvel show getting a Lego set as of currently, just speculation.
  17. THIS LIST IS OUTDATED. NEW LIST CAN BE FOUND HERE PREVIOUS LIST CAN BE FOUND HERE The below has been spoiler tagged for a record of when information was released. Confirmation of 76188 being the mystery $29.99 (298 Pieces) set? Edit: Given recent information this could be 76196... but will keep it as is for the moment. Edit 2: Given lack of clarity, have temporarily assigned it to 76196 until we have clarity of another source for 76188.
  18. Islanders is a very short lived subtheme of Pirates. I expect most subthemes were bundled into the overall theme. The only exception is seemingly Castle which notably had subthemes of varying different lengths and sets spanning many years. As shown by the recent Lego Ideas Barracuda set, elements of Islanders could be adapted in any potential Pirates sets. As shown by recent Ninjago sets, aspects of Islanders could also be included in other themes. If Islanders had been listed as a seperate theme it would have stood no chance, but bundled together with Pirates, it means perhaps it could be adapted in future. Primarily those following the current Lego Ideas reviews along with having an understanding of potentially conflicting sets and how it would appear if Western simultaniously won the 90th anniversary and had a Lego Ideas set chosen very shortly after that would be adapted at the same time :p As for the nonsense that they would not adapt it because it potentially depicts Native Americans. These are from 2016, 2011 and 2010. Lego can easily create a new Western theme and simply portray the Native Americans as kind/peaceful - honestly that seems exactly what they are going for with the CMF Native American inspired figures.
  19. I'm not really understanding what you are saying...
  20. Tease, tell us what you know :p It's clear that we can have other sets, nothing is stopping them releasing a WandaVision Disney+ set and it not being any of the sets listed in Summer, but we are already hitting 27 actual sets for the first half of the year and that's out of what we know (Let alone the unnumbered $29,99, 298 pieces set). The problem is if we don't stick to what we know or have evidence towards we'd fall into endless speculation over potential options for sets for everything, such as theorising on an entire wave based around a Disney+ show for example.
  21. The list we have is only covering Summer 2021 as far as I am aware, which would mean sets planned for releases around the middle of the year. The only exception being any Spider-man 3 sets which would likely be listed among the Summer wave but probably will not release in Summer due to the delaying of the film. In order to avoid spoilers it seems like any Disney+ sets we are getting are not releasing until either after the show is completed or until a certain episode airs given we have yet to see a Disney+ related set currently for WandaVision (if it is indeed getting a set) WandaVision finishes airing on March 5th TF&TWS finishes airing on April 23rd Loki finishes airing in July. I'm only attributing a potential three Disney+ sets for this reason to cover the shows that would have finished in time for a set to be listed on the Summer list. We simply don't know when What If, Hawkeye or Ms Marvel would air so it's unlikely they would get a set before the show has aired, let alone finished, in order to avoid spoilers. As such any later Disney+ shows such as What If, Hawkeye and Ms Marvel would likely get an Autumn release for the sets depending on when they air. Edit: It's possible it could only have a few sets, but given the popularity of the previous film along with comments regarding this film I feel it is going to be a bigger scale than people expect and that Lego would have allocated it more sets.
  22. Lego_Fulcrum was the source of the age listings for some of the sets in my attempt at cataloguing all info we had on January 19th. I believe they are legitimate and provide or relay information. The trouble is this time they are specifying it as a rumour, and its a rumour that as far as I can tell likely originated here as a result of speculation. Lego_Fulcrum themselves acknowledges this in a reply to an individual stating: "It's just a rumour, I’ve heard it from many people for the past week, still don’t know if it’s true, that’s why I posted it as a rumour". They are not trying to pass this as factual or to misinform, so I do not feel we should treat it as more than a rumour at this time. That said, lets look into its viability and where a rumour might have stemmed from. At minimum we have 11 unknown sets: We remove three sets to cover a potential Disney Plus set for WandaVision, TF&TWS and Loki and we are down to 8. Remove another set for the other 18+ set that is likely a Head/Bust now we are down to 7. Remove the two 4+ sets we know about and we are down to 5. Granted FalconFan1414 has admitted we should not dismiss the 4+ sets as being Spider-man 3 sets, but I think the above is where and how the rumour was generated and unless we get more information on why this rumour is based on more than the above I don't think we should treat the rumour as a potential source this time. It may very well be accurate, personally I'm leaning to around 5 or 6 sets also, given I honestly believe this is getting the budget that an Avengers wave would normally get. We just don't have anything really clarifying it and Lego_Fulcrum themselves is acknowledging it as a rumour rather than a source at this time.
  23. Yeah, this is pretty much someone doing the exact same thing I did... which was see a bunch of new sets originally planned for Summer and attribute slightly less than half of them to the only movie remaining in the 2021 schedule.
  24. A new reply appears in the form of a pop-up box, but clicking it will not load the new comment. In a similar sense, notifications will appear for new comments without displaying them when viewing the topic unless a manual refresh occurs.
  25. I'm thinking more of something like Knights Kindoms pieces where it was just a regular Lego brick with ball joints. Nowadays Lego could do a lot with that, as has been shown with the Mixels line. I feel that will be the basis for the next wave of buildable figures - where you have a basic structure and you build using Lego system pieces. Maybe something similar to the current mech builds for Superhero figures where they have a specific body piece. The current mech builds (spoilered for space) feel like a basis for that concept. The second 2020 Lego review of 35 Lego Ideas sets includes a set known as Brickwest Studios. It is generally believed that Lego Western was not included because Brickwest Studios will be one of the winners the review and made into a set that would be released in 2022. I feel such a set would satisfy Lego Western fans and if such a set were to be released, Western would not need a 90th Anniversary set.
