Marvel Superheroes 2022 - Rumors & Discussion

August is the retail release date, Falcon and a few others remarked we could see it release online only in May/June. Most likely our three D2C's will be spaced out by around 2 months each to avoid overwhelming people with big sets all at once. A hypothetical scenario could see online release with: End of March/April for IW Hulkbuster (Released alongside the Infinity War/Saga Accessory pack?) End of May/June for Sanctum (Doctor Strange 2 releasing May 6th) End of July/August for $500 set (If Spider-man themed, like the Daily Bugle, could fit with August 60th anniversary) The only release date we know of currently is the Sanctum's Sanctorum's, but we had information on the IW Hulkbuster first so I'm still a little surprised that we are now getting a lot more info on the Sanctum while the IW Hulkbuster remains undated and with no recent updates. Anticipation builds hype Honestly if they have details or potentially images it'll be a website post and they'll take a while formatting that with links and things. They probably also want to give time for recent reveals such as the camera and vespa sit for a while to allow them to get seen by people before posting the next thing Or they troll'd us again... -
Marvel Superheroes 2022 - Rumors & Discussion

Final hour or so before the potential reveal. In the meantime, Promobricks has updated the Marvel list with 76218 Sanctum Sanctorum 2708 pieces, $209,99 with a retail release of 01.08.2022 - generally just confirmation of the Sanctum Sanctorum for those still on the fence. They still list 76215 which is probably the IW Hulkbuster, but I'm still curious when that will release as we had more info on that than the Sanctum Seems like it'd be worth modifying the handle so the tile pieces don't end up getting misaligned, should be able to be accomplished fairly easily. Looks like a bit of a bend when its picked up or pressure is put on the handle, so if you intend to use it a lot chances are it'll need re-enforcing a little more. -

Interesting... the wording seems to imply it is unlikely to be the IW Hulkbuster or the $500 set as those are things we've known about for a while. I'm intrigued but not going to get too overly optimistic. The remark on the lack of information regarding Marvel could hint to higher levels of secrecy regarding the summer wave which could imply another Legacy set scenario where we did not even get set numbers for the Summer sets until a lot closer to release. Introducing... THE GOAT BOAT -
Marvel Superheroes 2022 - Rumors & Discussion
Scarilian replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
The Goat Boat I think is 'ok', in theory it gives you the primary characters of the movie all in one set. Maybe I'm just not sold as much on the characters or how they look this time around. I think this would have appealed more to me if it was based on Thor: The Dark World with its ship with Thor, Loki, Fandral, Jane and an Asgardian Gaurd. Gorr is sadly the weakest part of the figure line-up. He looks really lame and generic, perhaps it's based on concept art, perhaps this is just how he looks in the film... but the design sucks. No Hood, no Head Tails, just fairly bland. I would have liked Thor to have his gaunlets represented somehow, I feel his overly detailed design needs them and without them it emphasises how plain the arms look and I think finding replacement arms will be tricky - though options do exist. Updated List: We have around 14 hours or so to go until the next Promobricks drop of information, I'm not sure it'll be Marvel, but it may be worth checking back. When Promobricks eventually does get around to the Marvel stuff, chances are it'll be the following (In order of likelihood) Information regarding 76207, Thor L&T set scheduled for April Set numbers and potentially prices to Summer sets without names or descriptions More information on the IW Hulkbuster which they first reported on and mentioned as being 76215, release date is unknown so we could get an update (Perhaps we'll be lucky and get it before the 76218) Confirmation of 76218 as being the Sanctum/description of the set, which is releasing in May Description for the Infinity War accessory pack which is apparently in April Details of the Summer wave, including names and/or vague descriptions of figures/builds Hints/Name/Teasers/Confirmation regarding the $500 76210 I'm still leaning towards 76210 being Avengers/Stark Tower, followed by a series of Summer Legacy sets. We'll probably have something display worthy related to Captain America also as we have Thor's Hammer (Thor) and IW Hulkbuster (Iron Man). Other things I am expecting us to get at some point this year include a Spider-man Bust (To go alongside Venom & Carnage) and perhaps a Stark OR Iron Man Gauntlet to display alongside the Infinity Gauntlet. I also would not be entirely surprised if we get some non-mcu related Spider-man sets and potentially more of those Marvel Monster Hunt tie-in things. -
Ongoing Transformers Rumors and Discussion
Scarilian replied to NoOneOfImportance's topic in LEGO Licensed
I think its fairly logical honestly, the timing would have originally lined up near the planned release of Transformers: Rise Of The Beasts which is clearly trying to appeal with some level of nostalgia with the characters included and it's setting leads to the likelyhood of G1 inspired designs definitely along the lines of Bumblebee where they are trying to target a younger demographic also to start a new franchise. In terms of what is needed for a Transformation, Optimus is probably the easiest so makes sense as the first and probably only Lego transformers figure, pretty much just needs to be able to have the legs bend 90 degrees and the arms bend backwards. It probably won't be overtly complicated and that could be a benefit as it'd allow people to modify the set more. I expect it to lack a lot of detailing, this will definitely be built with the intent that a younger fan is going to want to Transform this over and over again. The piece count is fairly low considering it will include a jetpack and a weapon which will probably be his sword or axe (as Lego would want to avoid a gun). In terms of which version they base things off, it's probably going to be based on his appearance in Bumblebee and presumably Transformers: Rise Of The Beasts - which is effectively an updated G1 version of his design. -

Updated List: I feel both Thor and Jane needed the arm printed with the gauntlets in order for the designs to work, otherwise it feels 'off'. I'm not really sold on either design, Thor kinda feels like a rejected Eternals costume design. As a sidenote, chances are we'll get Thor with his helmet in the other set if this one gives us his hair. Ty for the info on the accessory pack, added it to the list. I'd guess it'd be Thor L&T related also, so Gorr or perhaps a different costume for Thor, at one stage he just wore black, too generic to really pinpoint to a certain character Most the comic designs are fairly close to the movie version other than the amount of floors. With the only rumored figures so far being Iron Man and Spider-man I'd say it's either comic inspired OR Infinity War inspired. If we get a wave of sets then chances are it'd be akin to the Legacy wave from last year where we had no real leak of the list until very close to release at the only prior proof of existence was a teaser image and a random image hinting at the set numbers. I'd guess the $500 D2C will be some big celebration of Avengers/Marvel and then we'd get a wave of legacy sets associated with whatever the $500 set is (Avengers Tower? Helicarrier 2.0?) The only characters rumored for the set are Iron Man and Spider-man. Doctor Strange is obviously likely to be included, but we've no confirmation that this is an MCU based set yet, so it could be a continuation of the Daily Bugle style comic inspired sets. Alternatively the only current appearance of Iron Man and Spider-man near the Sanctum Sanctorum was in Infinity War. We also do not know how much focus the variants of Strange will have and it's debatable as to if Lego would have interest in including them at all, especially when the primary changes are just a torso and hair piece, perhaps an altered face print for Supreme Strange. I feel it'd be pretty 'eh' if we wind up getting the three Stranges before we end up getting the three Spider-man's. It's risky to base big D2C's primarily on concept art, so any MoM concept art that was available and relevant back then would likely only influence some figures. If movie inspired Lego would base the design of the Sanctum Sanctorum primarily on via visuals from Doctor Strange, Thor Ragnarok and Infinity War. If comic inspired they would likely research the varying designs and create their own version inspired heavily by what they have seen. While they could include aspects of MoM, the primary design of the Sanctum would likely draw upon elements of the previous films as opposed to concept art that can change. Figures could be included that would be associated with MoM but I feel Lego would hope the core design of the Sanctum Sanctorum and its interior would remain so they had more material to base the design from as opposed to if we suddenly wind up getting a redesign of the interior for MoM. -

If it is indeed the Sanctum, it'd make the most sense for this to have been entered early design phase around 2019/2020, which would mean the main inspiration for the build and general focus on figures would probably be its appearance in Doctor Strange, Thor Ragnarok and Infinity War. I feel figures would be the only way it could beat pre-existing knock-off Sanctum Sanctorums. The most logical selection of figures would be to focus around Thor Ragnarok and Infinity War which occured almost immediately after one another. I doubt it would include many elements from NWH or MoM, other than perhaps a singular figure from each (Spider-man & Scarlet Witch) as I doubt Lego would have been given enough visuals to work from for NWH or MoM. Doctor Strange (Spare Yellow hands for his 'gloves') Wong Tony Stark Bruce Banner (Same as in upcoming IW Hulkbuster?) The Ancient One Casual Loki Casual Thor Kaecilius as an antagonist Spider-man (Added at the last minute as a tie-in to Spider-man: NWH) Scarlet Witch (Added at the last minute as a tie-in to Multiverse Of Madness) My guess would be something like above, if 10 figures is too much then I could see them dropping Thor, Loki and either Kaecilius OR Scarlet Witch. This is assuming the Sanctum is based on the MCU and not a comic-inspired selection of characters... I know most people are not hyped for it, but I'm mostly waiting to see how they are tackling the IW Hulkbuster. -

If they don't bother with the 60th anniversary of Spider-man, then they should at least ensure that they are going all-out on the 10th anniversary of Avengers - which I am guessing they are attempting with Thor's Hammer, 76218, IW Hulkbuster, the $500 set and the long awaited Infinity War accessory pack... but I'd hope we get a secret legacy wave also. -

The piece count, price count and release date is different to what the Ant-Man set was rumored to be. I believe this was the same place where we got rumors of Thor's Hammer being a set, so I'm not personally going to dismiss the existence of an Ant-Man set. I'm more willing to lean on the idea that the information was correct but the number of the set was incorrect which has happened in the past - at least until we have more the full April line-up revealed. Updated List: It does seem there are other Mech Strike Monster Hunters Marvel characters. Honestly I want a dual pack where its Hulkbuster Iron Man VS Venom. I think the beastial elements on the Hulkbuster would be interesting to encorporate - plus Venom could use those wing pieces from the 2022 Ninjago sets. -

Sadly, we knew a lot of this information prior. The only new set listed here is 76230, though at least we get confirmation on some of the pricing. Have updated the list accordingly. Updated List: My personal guess is that 76215 is the Hulkbuster in that case, as we originally had information referring to 76215 as the Hulkbuster and then that information suddenly got taken down. It is unclear if that is still a Marvel set as we've heard nothing since about it and it is undated in terms of its release. If 76218 is indeed not the Hulkbuster or a NWH set, it'd probably have to be Avengers movie related to warrant that level of pricing. I suppose a Captain America Shield could work at that level, but the piece count seems quite high for what would need to be a fairly sturdy model. At the moment I'm now leaning to the possibility that 76218 is Avengers Tower, 76215 is the IW Hulkbuster and 76210 is a Helicarrier. The previous Helicarrier was $349.99, if you wanted to update it and re-release it potentially with the electrical element included you could probably do so for around $500 in present day. In terms of Avengers Towers, the most expensive version we had was $89.99. I could personally see them doing something, depending on scale, with the $210 price tag and the piece count meaning lots of small details. The only other alternative in my mind is that 76218 would be something Spider-man inspired so that its retail release would end up tying with the anniversary in August. -

If we were getting more sets, then possibly - but considering we are getting two, one of them being fairly cheap and the other focusing more on Goats and a Boat... I think it's almost zero chance of her getting a new facial print. -

Jane Foster Thor looks alright, but nothing particularly special. It's not accurate enough to the movie and I'm not particularly invested in the character enough to have an innacurate portrayal to just sit around, If I'm having a figure of her, at least let it be accurate. Honestly, will be fine if we don't get any additional sets for Doctor Strange 2. It really feels like a mess of different things all bundled together with the hopes that wacky visuals will sell the film, and I'm not particularly hyped for it personally after how they handled Strange recently in the MCU. With so many characters presumably showing up solely for cameos or having alternate forms/visuals so much of the time, I can understand why they just went with Chavez, Strange and Wong. It'd be difficult without seeing the film to know how much focus each character is going to get and which would be in need of sets. I still expect us to get another set with Scarlet Witch at some stage, but I doubt we'll get a set with every cameo character featured or every alternate version NWH is the only one I can see us getting something for this year as the 60th anniversary of Spider-man in August would be good motivation for Lego to rush the release of a set associated with NWH or at least something legacy related to include the Raimi & Webb Spider-man figures. If Doctor Strange 2 does get anything else, it'll almost certainly include Scarlet Witch as one of the figures as the other set did not include her and its a chance for those who did not get the CMF version. -

If it's based on the film, it'll probably be delayed also as Rise Of The Beasts got pushed back to 2023 I think Marvel is meant to have some sort of Halloween special that may include him also, so we have a slim chance of getting him in some form in October. -
Marvel Superheroes 2022 - Rumors & Discussion

Realistically, Disney/Marvel would want the Thor 4 trailer/teaser to be released before we end up seeing the Lego sets which would give us a look at characters from the film who have not been officially shown yet, most notably Gorr, who may have some ties to the symbiotes if the movie follows the comics. If the Lego sets spoil him having the Necrosword or any symbiote style outfit/armour then that could be a big factor they want to avoid people seeing before the trailer. If they had an intent to reveal the sets before the trailer/teaser then it would have been logical for them to have revealed the sets alongside the reveal of Thor's Hammer last week. Instead, we have nothing. I would as such view Monday 14th February as the absolute earliest if we are indeed treated to a look at Thor 4 at the Superbowl, however chances are the focus would more likely be on Doctor Strange 2 - which they will likely want to replicate the success of Sony's Spider-man NWH. Honestly, I'm still expecting February to be a fairly quiet month in terms of information, I'd suggest others expect the same. Though hopefully the superbowl will give us the ability to speculate over what additional Doctor Strange 2 sets could include if the film is popular enough OR if they had spoiler sets planned. I feel everything will start picking up pace in March/April. I'd honestly prefer if it was Hulk in the style of the Avengers: Endgame Final Battle Thanos. If it is just a minifigure then it'd have to be Bruce and chances are he'll just look like this - and that'd be 'eh' personally. We could maybe get a double-sided face print, but they would'nt be able to do much with it as his 'attempt transformations' in the film resulted in his entire face going green and you would'nt be able to hide that with a hair piece, so it'd probably just be the green eyes and an angry expression. The only alternative I can think of would be if they go the Harry Potter route and have it include a golden figure of Bruce Banner, making it a unique and somewhat desirable figure and would tease we'd get other golden figures for other Avengers later. -

I feel the lack of new information and sets releases is a contributing factor to our current boredom :p Once we get past this month, every month should give us at least 1 new Lego set for us to discuss. April is full of Mech's and we'll hopefully get the reveal of 76218 after (Unless it leaks sooner) and then May will be primarily people modding or discussing modding that set. Indeed, it'd also work well as a method of giving us something from the past - so they could easily give us them marketted as 'legacy sets' at some point in the future. I'm still expecting them to do more Spider-man stuff in the later half of the year, even if it's not tied to NWH. -
Marvel Superheroes 2022 - Rumors & Discussion

I can understand losing interest in a potential set due to film hype dying down, but I think the appeal for a potential set comes primarily from the villains and heroes who either have not featured in Lego sets before or are generally only available for extreme prices. Lizard has not been released at all in Lego and I'm curious to see how they would do MCU Lizard, the best bet I can think of would be something akin to Korg, with a tail and perhaps different legs. I think to an extent Lego may have had a direct influence in this, the timing of everything seems too much of a coincidence and they would obviously want to throw a lot of random false information out there to obscure actual plans they have for the 90th anniversary of Lego, let alone the specific anniversaries of certain themes. The first notable scenario for me is Thor's Hammer. We initially had rumours about Thor's Hammer in mid December along with the later reveal of 76209 being a Marvel set, at one stage in my summary of sets I even speculated it could be 76209, but reliable leakers were then presumably fed information from sources they felt were reliable that resulted in them labelling 76209 as a DC set. This to me seems like the most likely option, reliable sources being misled sparking other reliable sources to report on them. I expect the same can be said for other scenarios. Nothing can be done about this scenario other than taking most information with salt until we get more information on the subject. In general you'd be best sticking to sources who have proven themselves repeatedly reliable, it is not a sure fire method, but it does produce results. The primary method that we get leaks requires a foundation of trust as it is rare for leakers to risk exposing their role via sending information they could use to back-up the source. Doctor Strange 2, I fear, is going to have a similar problem to Spider-man 3, studio meddling. At the moment Raimi does not know if the film is completed or not and he's the director, this should never happen and shows a lot of studio interference. This was already a concern when the project went from being a horror movie with Nightmare as the main villain exploring the darkness within Doctor Strange to being primarily a Wanda focused multiverse movie. I'm worried Marvel is too afraid to let characters stand on their own anymore after Endgame, so are pushing them into team-ups to appeal to the largest demographic. -

I'm still going off the April (April 26th) release for the Thor L&T sets which was information we got on 11th January while the catalogs were released over a week prior. The March release in the catalogs was something that was leaked on the 9th October before the delay on the 18th October from May to July, so it's likely the catalogs were working off an older date for the set release and the sets were pushed back roughly a month - probably to avoid an Eternals situation where we saw the sets before we saw the trailer. I think Doctor Strange 2 will be the talk of the Superbowl and then in March we'll get the Thor L&T trailer followed by the Thor L&T sets in April. Either way, I feel the mech set would'nt be as closely guarded by Lego and it'd make more sense for that to either be officially revealed or leak prior to us seeing the Thor L&T stuff. Just in general it seems that movie associated stuff is more closely guarded by Lego while the mechs just randomly get leaks or official reveals at odd times. -

I'm still expecting us to see the Ant-Man set (76219) before we see the Thor L&T stuff, I don't see why they have not shown that set yet... unless that got pushed back slightly due to similar issues to the other mechs. Movie marketing has changed so movies generally recieve a trailer around 3 months prior to the film. With Thor L&T getting delayed to July I would not expect a full trailer until April, and even then it'd make more sense to try and avoid advertising Thor L&T much until Doctor Strange 2 has released in early May. Instead I expect we'll see a new trailer for Doctor Strange 2 that will tease more of the multiverse elements and probably a trailer for Moon Knight. If we get something for Thor L&T I'd expect it to be a short teaser that will show us Starlord, Thor, Valkyrie, Sif, Gorr and probably end with a shot of Jane Foster's Thor wielding Mjolnir. Set's would probably wind up just featuring some of those characters anyway with the potential inclusion of Korg & Meik I want to see these type of sets continue, but I worry for the quality of future similar style models given the details this one is lacking. While the Triquetra symbol is optional as it only appears very briefly in specific scenes, the detailing on the slanted edges of the hammer are crucial for any model trying to pass itself off as an official Thor's Hammer display piece. You don't necessarily need the detail on the end of the hammer if you were going for playability, but it's clear they were going for primarily display and they just did not include the details in any form. The detailing is generic enough that you could have had 8 Sticker prints of the same design and it'd have worked, which arguably would have made sense considering they have different build styles but similar slopes. It's frustrating personally because even the image they used displayed the hammer with the symbols on the edges and the Triquetra symbol , so even comparing it on the official box art makes it look underwhelming and incomplete. If the $20 knock-off from 2020 can include printed slope pieces, why can't Lego even include stickers? Let alone the 2021 knock-off that can actually be held and includes stickers, prints, lights, lightning effects, a rotating stand, display panel and an entire model of Asgard that fits inside... Please Lego, at least try and prove your stuff is better... :/ -

Agreed, honestly Stormbreaker would have given them more to work with and probably would have been easier to sell to people given it's been used by Thor a lot in the more recent films and seemingly will be his weapon in Thor L&T - even if I have doubts about how popular that film will be. It's also weird it is releasing this year, rather than last as part of the 10th anniversary of Thor - though I suppose it could be bundled into a '10th anniversary of Avengers/Lego Avengers' thing. At this stage I'm still confused as to how we are lacking a Spider-man bust (We have both Venom & Carnage) and an Iron Man Gauntlet (Like the Infinity Gauntlet) which are arguably things which would be in higher demand - now we are adding Mjölnir into the mix and we'll probably never get a Stormbreaker as I don't see this selling particularly well... and we are getting another D2C Hulkbuster which, even if I have some desire for, is based on the less iconic of the two designs. Part of me does question if we will see Captain America's Shield and perhaps an Iron Man Gauntlet this year if they are going to celebrate the Phase 1 Films. -

Promobricks is listing the release as 1st March 2022 and the set will feature 979 pieces retailing at €99.99 Hammer looks pretty insanely 'meh', they could have decorated it - but it feels low effort. You can purchase the basic toy version from Disney for £22/$30 so I cannot see people justifying this set unless they are really desperate for it to be in Lego form. The baseplate seems fairly lacklustre and it's not particularly needed, feels like an excuse to increase the piece count. The included mini segment that represents the artefacts that were in Asgard's Vault is neat, but at this stage fairly sure everyone who wants it has the Infinity Gauntlet and the stones, which is the main appeal of those aspects. I'm guessing Thor is an exclusive version, or at least the Torso is, seems kinda inspired by the first Thor film - perhaps we'll get other Thor legacy sets eventually? I feel like the simple inclusion of a printed tile piece or even included stickers (at minimum) would have helped add a great deal to the set. It really needs to feel decorated if it's going to be for display and I don't get the vibe this could be weilded or held like Thor's hammer should, especially not by the strap as he has done in several films. In general if it's going to be a display piece then put more effort into decorating the thing you are going to display, if it's going to be for some level of playability then don't bother including the display area and improve the structural integrity rather than adding mini-builds. Looking pretty great. I think in terms of modifying the arc reactor placement the main thing in the way is the angled plate piece that holds the arc reactor cover, if you can find a way to swap that out then you could raise the arc reactor slightly higher. I think turning his neck into a 'snake' of sorts using multiple ball joint/socket pieces that compress down would probably work well, enabling you to pose it at a variety of angles without the current limitations. Might end up modding mine at some point, but I'm mostly waiting on the D2C IW Hulkbuster as I'm probably going to attempt to modify that to look more like the AoU version. I'm curious to the new scale - as depending on the scale might see if we can fit the upper torso of Iron Man inside Unless Shang Chi shows up randomly in a current Marvel project I expect we won't see any Shang Chi sets again until either the spin-off series (Earliest 2024) or Shang Chi 2 (Earliest 2025) Legacy sets are the only option of them revisiting the first film I'd expect. Luckily in terms of settings some of the Ninjago sets sorta work for the ancient city - and some people have made mocs of the location. -

I think modding it is a bit of a hassle primarily because of the shoulder pads Example 1 - size is increased and retains visuals of the original Example 2 - size remans, but shoulder pads are removed and original visual style is altered The arms are arguably positioned about the height they should be on the body, perhaps a stud higher if desired, but the main issue comes from the torso and shoulder pads along with the lack of a neck. I understand the image is not the version it is inspired by, but generally the arms should be only slightly higher than the arc reactor, after all it is positioned near the upper middle of his chest. Unsure, but in terms of what to look out for: Thor L&T sets and the Ant-Man set are the next things we should get details on, they are supposed to be releasing in April. 76218 (Probably Hulkbuster) is a May release. Officially they normally reveal it about a week or two prior, but may tease it in official media. Normally it leaks prior either being displayed in stores or the printed helmet piece finding its way online. In terms of Summer stuff, I still feel we have a lot left to reveal as we have the $500 D2C and I'm expecting that to be released alongside another Legacy wave or a 10th anniversary wave. I also expect Lego to take advantage of the 60th anniversary of Spider-man, even if that just means a few more comic inspired sets. -

Confirmation of the Calendar is neat. Ended up getting 76206 today, its proportions are weird, but will probably mod it eventually. I can kinda imagine them doing Wolverine in this style also given the shoulder/helmet piece shape. I just hope we get confirmation of more sets soon though, it really does feel like we'll get a big reveal in Summer with the $500 set being revealed as Avengers Tower and it being accompanied by a wave of Legacy sets/10th Anniversary sets and then a bunch of Spider-man related sets in August hopefully featuring a NWH set to celebrate the 60th anniversary. I just really hope we have more Marvel sets to look forward to than the current list, though its entirely possible the budget went primarily towards the Hulkbuster, $500 set and the Black Panther 2 wave.
