Marvel Superheroes 2021 - Rumors & Discussion

Sandman will probably be brick-built like Giant Man, whichever set he is featured in, he'd be the main build. He'd probably be featured alongside Electro (Likely just a torso print), Lizard (Torso and Leg Print with Tail piece), MCU Spider-man in his black/gold suit (either the same or less detailed than 76195) and TASM Spider-man with full printing. Four figures and one Brick-Built figure, maybe a tree also so we can base it on that forest scene from the trailer - think along the lines of 75967. Probably a similar price. Rhino would make the most sense to be brick-built also, though perhaps more similar to how we had him before. He could even be a big-fig if they wanted. He'd probably be featured alongside Doc Ock & Green Goblin. Doc Ock would be a fairly basic figure with torso and leg print to represent his trenchcoat featuring his tentacles similar to 76148. Green Goblin would probably wind up with detailed arms, torso and leg print along with a hood/helmet piece and his glider. We'd probably get MCU Spider-man in the most iconic final battle suit which will probably be classic red/blue and Raimi Spider-man with full printing. Four figures and a brick-built, probably with a build featuring an enlarged Captain America's Shield and a platform area - think along the lines of 76084. Probably a similar price. You could throw in Aunt May or an important civilian figure also. -

If they use Norman again, it'll probably be as the Iron Patriot/leader of the Dark Avengers maybe his Hulk-like Goblin form. They won't want to repeat themselves. As for the others, chances are unlikely they'll be adapted in future. This will likely be our last versions of these characters in movies for quite a while. -

The trailer seems to reveal/tease 4 or 5 of the Sinister Six. With the Sinister Six plus other returning characters that's around 8 figures split over two sets - is a minifigure pack an option also? We've already gotten Ned & Happy Hogan prior and seemingly all the variations of Spider-man (Other than re-releasing the Iron Spider again but I don't feel that is needed). I'm fairly sure one of them will be a large set based on the concept art we saw for Far From Home coupled with the promotional image we saw from filming (Spoilered below) If we are getting a big set, then that's likely the inspiration. -

Full leaked trailer seems to confirm a lot of aspects. I'd be incredibly surprised if we don't get a second wave in early 2022. It's expected to officially release fairly soon and the leak will no doubt push forward them releasing the full trailer (and potentially a varied trailer at Comic Con) so going to save thoughts until that. -

We've seen the October 1st Spider-man: NWH sets, so if they are October 1st sets they should be revealed already. I think they are going to be pushed back -

We might get a Spider-man: NWH Teaser/Trailer before the end of the month. Apparently it is being shown at Cinema Con non-publically on August 23rd - 26th and that could mean a release either at the end of the month or attached to Shang-Chi. Comparing on google trends, it's got very little hype. Can understand why as the trailer looked fairly bland/boring personally along with confirming aspects of a plot leak from a while back. I'm skipping this one regardless. I think Lego gave it several sets solely because they wanted to include all the main characters in set form. I'm still expecting this to be delayed if Shang Chi performs poorly. Venom 2 might get delayed again to January. Would make sense to push Eternals and Spider-man: NWH back also to March & May. Either way, it'd make sense for them to reveal the sets officially in late September - as the sets are not releasing until late October/November at the earliest. Then again, considering this is Lego we are talking about, I fully expect the sets to be available in stores or via leaks way before an official reveal. -

I'd hope that we end up getting more legacy sets in 2022 regardless - given it is the 10th anniversary of Avengers. I am however really curious about what is going to happen to the Eternals sets, Lego cannot keep pushing the sets back forever and will a month or two notice be enough time for them to change plans? They were meant to be releasing this November, would they push them back to February/March on such short notice. It'll also be interesting as to when the first Spider-man: NWH villain image will appear. If the movie is pushed back we might not see a trailer until early 2022, while we may have toys or images of the villains and other aspects appear a lot earlier. While that may seem true to an extent, delaying the movie to May 2022 would mean that it releases in summer. F9 released in Summer 2021 and earned around $660m. If the box office improves a bit more, the Summer 2022 release combined with the nostalgia factor and hopefully less IRL stuff to worry about could mean that Spider-man: NWH performs better. I think after GotG 3 we'll see an impact on the budget for MCU films. Deadpool 3, Blade and Fantastic Four will likely have a lower budget between $50-$150m -

It's possible, but when Shang Chi performs poorly it will be a domino effect. Sony will push Venom: Let there be Carnage back to January. Then Marvel will later push Eternals and Spider-man: NWH back to March and May resulting in the estimated timeline I posted. Personally my concern is what happens to all the Lego sets, it's going to be an utter mess if the Eternals sets get delayed again, let alone a wave 2 of Spider-man: NWH or even other films that should have associated sets. We're going to see a lot of things revealed before we see trailers for films. -

The delay for Venom: Let there be Carnage has seemingly been confirmed. The release date is now October 15th. I am pretty certain this delay is to allow them to wait and see how Shang Chi performs in regards to box office. I believe when (As it's box office tracking is quite low) Shang Chi performs poorly in September that Venom: Let there be Carnage will be delayed to January. Eternals and Spider-man: NWH slate would also be delayed to March and May respectively, pushing back the entire MCU slate after Shang Chi. It may get pushed back even further if the impact on the box office is not resolved in 2022, personally I think hollywood needs to take the 'L' and accept that the MCU's formula of pumping out a bunch of high budget action movies needs to change and adapt for the current times, though any plans being implimented at the moment would'nt be able to impact films until around Deadpool 3, Fantastic Four or Blade. Current estimates for likely shuffled release schedule would be the following: March 25th, 2022 - Eternals May 6th, 2022 - Spider-man: NWH July 8th, 2022 - Doctor Strange: MoM November 11th, 2022 - Thor: L&T February 17th, 2023 - Black Panther: WF May 5th, 2023 - The Marvels July 28th, 2023 - Ant-Man 3 October 6th, 2023 - GotG 3 November 10th, 2023 - Deadpool 3 April/May (?) 2024 - Fantastic Four If such a delay happens this would almost certainly mean that we see images of the villains and other spoilery aspects prior to the release of Spider-man: NWH - whether that be in merchandising or perhaps even the second wave (hopefully) of Lego sets. I'm still curious as to what will happen with the Eternals lego sets, we've not seen much to hint that they are definitely coming this year, nobody showing off the figure they have acquired from production lines, so they could be pushed back once again. -

I'd rather not have a 'good build' that's innacurate, unnecessary or inconsequential and only serves to add cost to the set. I'd rather get something like the 4+ Spider-man Vs. Mysterio's Drone Attack (76184) that has three figures I am interested in and it'd feel like I'm paying for the figures as opposed to Spider-Man’s Drone Duel (76195) where it has two figures I am interested in and a large vehicle build that does not interest me and may not appear in the movie. In a similar sense aspects such as the weird bug monster in the workshop and even the workshop itself could be avoided if it was handled differently. I'd more willing to pay for the figures I'm interested in as opposed to a large build I am not interested in because it has figures I want. I'm not saying Lego needs to stop doing higher age ranged focused Marvel sets, but using 4+ sets as an accompanyment to the normal sets is the best way to handle films where aspects are kept secretive. It'd work for times where all they have is the concept art of the characters and not builds, could even be used for Disney+ characters where the only thing that is consistent between episodes is normally the core characters. I'd rather not wind up with a Doctor Strange Sanctum set for Spider-man NWH Wave 2 AND/OR Doctor Strange 2 simply because they are unsure what builds to do because of the lack of marketting - especially seeing as we'll likely eventually get a D2C Comic Sanctum set anyway after the popularity of the Daily Bugle and with Doctor Strange starting to feature more prominently due to multiverse stuff. -

Personally I'd prefer a 4+ subtheme, they would not need to focus on specific builds and could work almost entirely on the figures. Spider-man: NWH alone has around 8 or 9 viable figures that fans will likely want to collect so splitting them out over four 4+ sets would be a smart choice. It could also be an easy way for us to get Disney+ figures under a 4+ line or even just expand the amount of legacy sets we get as opposed to a lot of big sets with builds that have a higher risk of shelfwarming, just release a 4+ set with Thor and Malekith with a tiny spaceship, Iron Man and Whiplash with a little car, War Machine with Whiplash MK2 and a Hammer drone, etc... -

I'm not particularly one with insider info, but I'm fairly sure it'll wind up being legitimate. 4+ sets seem like an easy way of getting out figures without having to spend a lot of time designing sets. -

He's re-itterated the point multiple times, we've had some recent Phase 4 reveal videos, the most recent being with the trailer for Eternals, and the final shot is the '4' logo. If he wanted to include Blade in Phase 4, that was the time to do it. Blade won't be in Phase 4, it'll likely be the first film of Phase 5. -

Blade is not in Phase 4 - Feige confirmed that, so that's Phase 5. This would imply that Fantastic Four has to come before Blade as the ending of Phase 4. Phase 4: Black Widow - July 9th, 2021 Shang Chi - September 3rd, 2021 Eternals - November 5th, 2021 Spider-man: No Way Home - December 17th, 2021 Doctor Strange: In the Multiverse of Madness - March 25th, 2022 Thor: Love and Thunder - May 6th, 2022 Black Panther: Wakanda Forever - July 8th, 2022 The Marvels - November 11th, 2022 Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania - February 17th, 2023 Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 - May 5th, 2023 Fantastic Four - July 28th, 2023 (Date confirmed, film estimated) Phase 5: Blade - October 6th, 2023 (Date confirmed, film estimated) Deadpool 3 - November 10th, 2023 (Date confirmed, film estimated) Captain America 4 - ? Mutants - True, interested to see what they would actually do with The Lizard. Most obvious choice would be to incorporate the tail from the Lizard Guy CMF we got a while back. In general I'm just curious if he'd wind up having his lab coat. -

I'm concerned as if they changed her powers for this sort of reason, what will happen with Mr Fantastic whose powers are entirely stretch focused when we eventually get him in the MCU. I would not be surprised if there was some sort of contractual thing. The Amazing Spider-man had a deal with Mega Bloks to produce sets and produced several featuring The Lizard. Perhaps Lego did not have the ability to produce 'Lizard' as a Spider-man figure. We may wind up getting one next year though, it is the 60th anniversary of Spider-man and I'm sure Lego will capitalise on that - not to mention the multiverse opening up possibilities that can be explored in films. -

If that is the case, wonder if we'll get new power blast pieces in the shape of fists or other translucent aspects when we eventually reach 'The Marvels' -

Promo Art has seemingly revealed Ms.Marvel's final costume, still unclear about if we'll get the season this year or next at this rate. She seems fairly accurate but seems they may have altered her powers, so perhaps no stretching? Either way, wonder if we'll get a figure of her somehow in early 2022 or if they intend for us to wait for 'The Marvels'. Which is honeslty a shame, would have preferred the Homecoming Jacket to whatever this seems to be -

It's fairly basic, but the mini-build of the Iron Man Armory is pretty neat and I'd like to see someone take that concept and run with it for a Microfig version of the Malibu Mansion. I still hope that 2022 gives us an Iron Man D2C Legacy set such as the Mansion or even Stark/Avengers Tower. -

I would not view a Wave 2 as a certainty, but this is Spider-man we are talking about. He's incredibly markettable and got the D2C focus this year. Next year is the 60th anniversary of Spider-man and they'll almost certainly find a way to provide a few more Spider-man sets. I think they'll find a way to give us more Spider-man: No Way Home stuff. -

Yes, it has altered, due to the potential for restrictions to be re-imposed & impact the release of a movie resulting in a delay. It's worth noting that the official Spider-man: NWH twitter that was advertising the movie every two weeks or so since February has also went silent on the subject since June 9th and if that does not start-up again soon then chances are they are waiting to see how Shang Chi performs. Shang Chi has a 45-day theatrical window before it releases on Disney+. No announcements have been made on any others. Now the option for Hybrid releases is no longer around up until films made with the new contracts. In May it was reported that the future of Phase 4 in terms of theatrical releases would be determined by the success of Black Widow & Shang Chi at the box office and that they only announced other films this year based on the 'relatively fluid nature of the recovery' being shown - if Black Widow & Shang Chi both lose money at the box office then it will represent the box office has not recovered to be viable enough for Winter films, no chance they release Eternals or Spider-man:NWH this year if that happens. Imagine Spider-man:NWH making less money that TASM2 ($709m) for example - that's very likely given the highest grossing American film of 2021 at the moment is F9 and that's struggling to get past $620m. In terms of specifically Lego, if the Eternals sets are meant to release in October this year as we'd previously heard then we should be seeing them listed on Shop@Home fairly soon, given we already have the first wave of Spider-man:NWH sets listed. If they don't appear that could hint to them being delayed again. -
Marvel Superheroes 2021 - Rumors & Discussion
Scarilian replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
Looking at where we are at currently: Eternals is something Marvel expects as a new franchise that could potentially replace Guardians of the Galaxy or rival Avengers, they would not want to risk the potential impact of a Winter release causing box office to drop. I think they expected the box office to bounce back but instead it's not remotely recovered enough to justify big blockbuster movies. Spider-man Far From Home made over $1.1bn and Sony would be certainly wanting a movie like Spider-man NWH to make a lot more, especially given the multiverse aspects. If Sony don't see the box office perfoming well then they'll push it back until Summer, which would also benefit them by being the same year as the 60th anniversary of Spider-man and a bunch of other Spider-man related anniversaries they could use to market the movie. The only box office Sony and Disney have to compare it to is Black Widow, which let's examine for the moment: It might fail to break-even on the estimated $400m (minimum) production costs let alone the estimated $500m costs with marketting Scarlett Johansson is currently suing Disney for releasing the film on Disney+ If the suing of Disney by Scarlett Johansson goes through then other lead actors/actresses might follow if their movies underperform so that could mean the stars of films such as Eternals, Spider-man:NWH & Doctor Strange. Shang Chi has already cost Disney a lot more than they expected due to multiple delays and now they might not be able to release it on Disney+ to try and skip the middleman of cinemas. So Disney and Sony should be massively worried about box offices. I think Shang Chi and Venom 2 will stick where they are as 'tests', but it's easily possible for Eternals and Spider-man: NWH to be delayed pushing the entire slate of films back if those underperform. As for the sets, Eternals has already had its sets delayed once and any potential Spider-man:NWH 2nd wave of sets is easy to delay at this stage because the earliest they would release is January anyway. The first wave of Spider-man: NWH sets is set to release October 1st here and are listed on the Lego site, yet the Eternals sets which were believed to release in October are nowhere to be seen on the site -

Apparently we are scheduled for another Venom: Let there be Carnage trailer in the next week or so. I'm still leaning towards Spider-man: NWH getting attached to Venom: Let there be Carnage IF they don't intend to delay Eternals and/or Spider-man: NWH to March & May respectively. I would not be surprised if the Eternals and additional Spider-man:NWH sets get pushed back also. -

Not really feeling a lot of these figures, either due to aspects of the design, accuracy issues or lack of connection to the characters they are based on. A few are letdown by the accessories they have. I'm only interested in a few solely for using parts of them for other figures that I have and others I expect we'll get an update of within a year or two. Spider-man is the only one I feel I specifically want at the moment. -

Not really interested in Zombie Captain America, it could look good but a singular style of Marvel Zombie on its own is not as appealing as a couple of the Marvel heroes as zombies. We know we get an Iron Man zombie from the trailer, so chances are this is setting up a 'What If Marvel Zombies' for What If Season 2... so maybe we'll be lucky and get more Marvel Zombies down the line to justify getting Zombie Cap. Captain Carter not having re-usable aspects is unfortunate, but kind of expected. It seems like they are going with the version that features more white segments on the arms (Top) version of her outfit, as opposed to the version we see in the trailers. Although the version (Bottom) does feature the red stripe that they mentioned on her leg... so perhaps it's a blend between the two versions?
