Marvel Superheroes 2021 - Rumors & Discussion
Scarilian replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
Honestly, sounds kinda promising. One of my issues with the previous version was that it wasted pieces on aspects other than the Hulkbuster. The previous set had 1363 pieces - but I'd guess around 150 of those were wasted on random robot arms, display stands and minature aspects. So we really are getting double the size, potentially double the pieces (that will be used on the Hulkbuster itself) and hopefully they'll deliver on articulation and fix a lot of the issues from the AoU inspired version. Double the size hopefully also hints towards the focus shifting to display as opposed to playability, which would be better as I'd rather have a Hulkbuster I can pose and display instead of one that is expected to handle the rough play of kids. Though I must admit I found the MK48 suit a rather ugly and less iconic version of the Hulkbuster and the entire thing is smoothed so it's going to be interesting to see how Lego tackle this especially at 2x the scale of the previous version. It also means maybe we'll be lucky and late 2022/2023 will give us an Endgame based D2C as now they seem to have confirmed the trend of us getting a D2C based off the Avengers movies roughly 3-4 years after the film: 2012's Avengers got 76042: The SHIELD Helicarrier D2C in 2015 2015's Avengers: Age of Ultron got 76105 Hulkbuster Ultron Edition D2C in 2018 2018's Avengers: Infinity War is getting the MK48 Hulkbuster D2C in 2022 As a sidenote, the previous Avengers movie Lego D2C's released both released in March, so would expect this set to follow that pattern, which would help tide us over nicely if the Thor sets are delayed to May or later shifting everything back -

Regardless of if this is another attempt at Age Of Ultron or if it's based on the Infinity War version, I feel it needs to be done right this time. I feel it would have made a lot more sense for us to get a D2C Avengers/Stark Tower, as it also aligns with the 10th anniversary of 2012's Avengers. I doubt it is a remake. It might be based on Infinity War/Endgame which would match the idea of us generally getting an Avengers based D2C 2-3 years after the film. -

I think the key ones are definitely Tobey's Spider-man, Andrew's Spider-man and Green Goblin. I feel those they will go all out on. Ock I can see them getting away with just printing the coat onto the legs like with like FFH Nick Fury, Nick Fury works well as a comparsion also because he has a similar sweater style. The tentacles will help him look like a complete figure Electro will probably just be a torso print unless he winds up getting a different costume later, he'll probably get a bunch of those power pieces Lizard could just be a torso and leg print, the tail and head would balance things out Sandman would probably be brick built as we have a lot of minifigure versions already that do the job -

We don't know if that was just made up for the Lego set, if it was in the film I feel other companies would have made toys of it also. We'll likely have something based off the concept art so we have a lot of room for errors or inaccuracies. With the amount of detail I dont think you'd do the figure justice without arm and leg printing, so hopefully they go all out on him. I'm kinda reminded of Thor from the Ragnarok sets. Hopefully his bag is a seperate piece and not printed on his chest. Edit: Apparently the 'concept art' was done via an artist who got hands on the leak 12 hours prior to the rest of us, the artist also did a mock-up of him wearing the classic mask. We'll probably get one version of him, likely looking similar to the concept art we've just seen. Part of me does hope we get a legacy version of him somehow though, maybe that would be possible as I doubt we'd get a helmet piece for just one set if we do get it. -

I don't feel these remarks are accurate considering all the risks they have taken since 2008, the lack of marketting the characters of this film (They could easily have done a GotG approach), the history of the development of the film & the plot leak from a few months back which was confirmed as legitimate. Either way, not watching it. Official images from the Empire Magazine and discussion on the tentacles (spoilers) As you mentioned, playability would definitely be a factor. I'm fairly sure we'll get a version similar to how we did before, probably with a different back attachment piece as the old one used to swivel a lot. -

Behind the scenes photo of NWH shows the Sanctum Basement design from the Sanctum set as fairly accurate. Eternals has looked bad from the start, unsure why people thought it would be remotely good in any sense, avoiding that film. As for more sets, they pretty much have all the characters they would need. The other characters they have teased more recently seem to be either cameos, minor roles or set-up for future films. For the moment Goblin is the only one that seemingly has an updated design that might interest me specifically, but that would probably be based on concept art. I'd still probably go after the others if they are well designed figures, but really need to get a glimpse of the Lego versions fairly soon to make that judgement. If the spoiler sets are not in 1HY then chances are I'll be focused more on any 2022 Legacy sets or D2C's. -

Eternals are not that popular and many are unfamiliar with the characters. Same, my main hope would be revisiting Thor, Iron Man 2, Thor 2 and Thor 3. You could give us characters like 'The Destroyer', Sif, The Warriors Three, Whiplash, Hammer Drones, Malekith, Kurse, Surtur, etc... I'd also hope they give us Stark Tower as a D2C set, based on how it appeared in Avengers but featuring elements from all its appearances. -

Yeah, that's a very disappointing image. CGI looks really bad, no shadows, aspects in motion, no real sense that anything in the shot actually exists (Cleanest road possible), no sense of weight. It's not even meme worthy, it just looks really bad. Then again, always been going into NWH with the mindset of spectacle over substance. Part of me hopes they may have edited in Ock and the Car as a misdirection as opposed to Goblin trying to gun Peter down like in Spider-man 1 - which the framing for the scene would make more sense with in my view. I could see a situation where they have the sets simply with Tobey or Andrew labelled as 'Spider-man' as opposed to including Tom, That way kids would not be confused, It'd just be Spider-man in a new suit to them. It'd also save the issue of trying to market the other Spider-man as different variants or anything. If Tom is included in a set with one or both of the other Spider-men then you'd either have to specify the names or have a set featuring 'Spider-man, Spider-man and Spider-man' I doubt they would release a set where you get Tobey with both Ock and Goblin. Those villains are the ones most fans would presumably be interested in after the film has released. If you put them in the same set then people could just buy that set and get Tobey, Ock and Goblin and re-use another version of Sandman. Would make more sense to try and shuffle the figures around: Andrew, Green Goblin, Electro, Brick-built Sandman Tobey, Ock, Lizard, Sixth Member That way fans of those franchises who may not have interest in other NWH stuff would need to buy both sets to collect the villains from the Raimi or Webb franchise - it'd also mean if you wanted the villains who are getting focus in marketing for NWH (Ock & Goblin/Electro) then you'd need both sets. Though it would be nice if they just included all the villains from the Raimi franchise in a single set :p -

I feel Mysterio's influence will be felt, but I doubt they would bring him back. They probably included his symbol on the poster because of his role in the film's plot. If Mysterio is the sixth member, it would be easier on Lego though. No need to release Mysterio again, so could just give us six minifigures and a brick built Sandman - maybe throw in Aunt May or Ned to give a civilian character. Andrew - Minifigure Tobey - Minifigure Doc Ock - Minifigure Green Goblin - Minifigure Electro - Minifigure Lizard - Minifigure Sandman - Brick Built Something like: Spider-man Variant facing off against Two minifigure villains and a brick-built Sandman (Similar to 76128: Molten Man Battle) Spider-man Variant and either Ned or Aunt May, facing off against Two minifigure villains (Similar to 76129: Hydro-Man Attack) I feel that's the best way they could handle it. -

Probably due to both Black Widow & Shang Chi underperforming. At least Spider-man:NWH is staying where it is. My guesses: 76205 (Doctor Strange 2?) will probably stay where it is, as the release date was January 1st and the set would likely not be spoiler heavy. 76207 & 76208 (Thor 4?) were scheduled for March 1st. We'll probably see them shown in the Lego catalogue similar to Eternals, but they could be delayed to June/July to avoid distracting from Doctor Strange 2 which now has a May release and more closely release with Thor 4's July date. 76211, 76212 & 76213 (Black Panther 2?) were scheduled for May 1st, they'll probably be delayed to October/November to more closely release with Black Panther 2 in November, though I'm fairly sure that will get delayed to 2023. 76219 is a bit of a mystery still, it was scheduled for April 1st and depending on what it is it'll probably keep that release date Depending on how this is handled, we may wind up seeing most of these sets months before release. Either way, sadly it means it's probably going to be another hectic time of trying to judge which sets we are getting and when, as this will throw everything for the loop. I kinda hope Lego does not delay the sets as it'd leave us with little in terms of MCU Marvel during the first half of 2022. -

I'm fairly sure eventually they'll either show up in films or will get a team-up Disney+ series that will provide Lego with another option down the line. -

I know it's almost certainly not going to happen, but I'd love to see Lego do a remake of 4856 at some point. Even if it's not under the Spider-man theme it'd be an awesome build to have a dilapidated docks set - would go well with the fishing sets. Though it seems unlikely we will revisit any of the pre-MCU movies, which is a shame. -

It's had a good run to be fair, sad to see it go, but 2022 should give us a lot more to talk about. Summer especially. It took us this long to get a D2C comic inspired Spider-man set. I'd guess next year might give us an MCU inspired D2C for the 10th anniversary of Avengers or something... so 2023 at the earliest for an X-Mansion but they will probably wait for the MCU to adapt them. -

So our current 2022 list is: 10781: Spider-man Techno Truck $9.99 10782: Hulk & Rhino's Truck Duel $19.99 10783: Spider-man at Doc Ock's Labratory $29.99 10784: Spider-man Webquarters $49.99 76202: Wolverine Mech $9.99 76203: Comic Iron Man Mech $9.99 76204: Black Panther Mech $9.99 76205: 'MCU movie set' $29.99 (300+ Pieces) - Likely Doctor Strange 2 inspired 76206: 'Buildable Iron Man Mk43' $39.99 76207: $19.99 76208: $49.99 76211: $49.99 76212: $9.99 76213: $29.99 76219: $19.99 XXXXX Infinity Saga Minifigure Pack It's apparently brick-built, so I'd expect something more akin to the Monkey Kid mechs or a scaled down version of what they did with Arishem. Wonder if we'll see them do one for Captain America & Thor... -

MoM will probably have a single set in 1HY, as only 5 characters were officially announced: Wanda, Strange, Mordo, Wong & Chavez. If they decide to do more sets for MoM for other characters it'd be in the Summer wave or later. Meanwhile L&T officially revealed the Guardians and other members of the core cast, so it'd be more likely that Lego have a lot they can work with. Calling it now, it will include Ronin and the War Machine MK5 :P I still hope 2022 gives us a D2C 'Stark/Avengers Tower' - would work well for the 10th anniversary and it gives you the chance to revisit characters from Avengers & Avengers: AoU, plus another Iron Man variant. If we're going to get Ultron again then the most logical one to update would be the MK1 Ultron, his first appearance, and a D2C Avengers Tower would be a good way to include him. I feel Lego did an alright job, but it's clear they could vastly improve on that figure (Look what they did with Zombie Cap for instance) -

I know a lot of people, myself included, are starting to expect a second more spoilery filled wave of sets for films (presumably in response to how the films are advertised being changed) but is that actually viable for the majority of MCU films? I feel like it might happen for Spider-man because it is a popular character/brand and the reports seem to hint towards us getting two more sets, but I'm not sure if we'd end up getting spoiler filled sets for the other MCU films. With everything else else Lego related we might get in 2022, it just feels like it'd be too much if we start getting multiple waves for the films also Thor L&T includes a lot of characters: Star Lord, Drax, Groot, Rocket, Mantis, Nebula, Kraglin, Thor, Valkyrie, Jane, Sif, Korg, Meik and Gorr - and that is only the core cast members. I'd lean towards 3 sets minimum, perhaps 4. Would make the most sense to re-use the Korg head piece and Miek in a Thor L&T set. I could see most the Guardians showing up in set form also, if they include Drax or Nebula in one of the more expensive sets then that would pair well with the Benetar which did not include either of them. Personally I think L&T is being looked over, despite it being one of the more larger casts of characters - even if the Guardians are not in a majority of the film they'll still likely get put in the toys because they'll help sell the film. Ah yes, 'The Marvels' :P In regards to Black Panther 2, we don't really have a sense of what the movie is going to be beyond rumours of characters, and any sets focused around that film will likely be released in the Summer Wave. I would'nt personally expect a Black Panther 2 set in the Winter Wave which is why people are'nt really discussing that at the moment, the Winter Wave is at least somewhat near -

I'm leaning towards; 76205 as a Doctor Strange set. 76206 as a Legacy set. 76207 & 7608 as the Spider-man NWH 2nd wave. 76211, 76212, 76213 & 76219 as Thor L&T sets. Either way, I hope that we get a sense of what they are soon. -

@lego_guyon02 If it has iconic enough aspects for me to want them months or years after the movie then I'd get it but the longer it is the higher chance I've found an alternative. Most the Iron Man suits I've gotten versions of because it is unlikely Lego will release them all. For Spider-man: NWH, I feel iconic moments will be tied to the characters as opposed to the locations - other than perhaps one obvious location which does not really interest me. Lego's track record for delivering on figures has been iffy, so if high quality alternatives are available, why would I wait longer for official sets that might be of a lower quality I think it'll be randomised, but not too sure... report back regardless :P -

Unless the film is delayed till May as some are speculating, I won't be as interested in official Lego products for NWH by then... it'll have been around 6-8 months after the movie and we'll already have had Doctor Strange 2, Thor 4 and Black Panther 2 released by then with their own sets. Now if they wind up doing a legacy Raimi/Webb Spider-man series around August as part of the 60th anniversary celebration I'd be all for that - but that's probably not happening. I'd probably just end up buying knock-off's of the villains and heroes I am interested in from NWH if the official sets are over half a year away from the movie, especially as it's unlikely that all of them get high levels of detail in the official sets while the knock-off's will -

As long as Spider-man & Eternals stay where they are we should get a second trailer for NWH probably in October - this will presumably give us a more detailed look at villains, heroes and locations that might be the basis for the sets. Though the films and potentially the second wave of sets do have a high chance of being delayed IF Shang Chi underperforms. Leak season for January/February sets tends to be around late October so we'll probably have seen those aspects before the sets appear. It's worth noting the high chances that we will see other merchandise prior that will reveal those aspects also. I think March is too far away honestly, if everything sticks where it is we'll probably get our first wave of Doctor Strange: MoM sets in March as the movie is scheduled for March 25th 2022 (I fully expect a second wave of sets for that film also, probably in June). 2022 is already going to be hectic enough for Lego Marvel as it is. -

I wonder how they will do that weird device Peter is holding? Minecraft Transparent Creeper Head with a print perhaps? In terms of Eternals sets, lobster_leaks on instagram has shown the back of the boxes for several Eternals sets - it might not be a new thing as have not really been following the Eternals set images - but I like the minature Arishem included in the 'Rise of the Domo' - could be an inspiration for people wanting to make minature Celestials. Edit: Apparently a few Instagram pages are claiming the other 2 Spider-man: NWH sets won't be released till March... if so we are unlikely to see them leak anytime soon. I feel the mods have made it incredibly clear that discussion on Tobey & Andrew in terms of potential inclusion in sets was allowed as it was viewed as "rumours" primarily relating to how multiverse villains from the Raimi/Webb series would naturally result in discussion about multiverse Spider-men, it's not referring to any leak, just the prevelance of said 'rumour' and the logic behind discussing it. It is not remotely 'sad' for them to do this, we'd be having this exact same discussion regardless of any potential connection to leaks because it'd be the most logical aspect to think after seeing the trailer talking about the multiverse. I think we even had discussion about this very briefly when Far From Home was being released due to its remarks on the multiverse and the inclusion of what some people at the time thought was Mysterio fighting Raimi Sandman with people discussing if we'd get another version of that Sandman. A conversation I had with the same moderator in May confirmed that "Any actor interviews are fine. We can't protect the people that want to know absolutely nothing about an upcoming film." It's not the role of the forum in the words of the moderator to completely protect people from anything relating to the film. This is different from leaked film info (Which is still banned), but yes, I agree that spoiler tags would still be preferable if linking or referring to actors interviews such as the recent interview. -

I think two sets should be enough - as long as we get the Sinister Six, we could always get a polybag also - and we've already got most the variants of MCU Spider-man via the other sets. Chances are it is based on something like this image, though generally they went with 'generic skyscraper' and added billboards to it. -
Marvel Superheroes 2021 - Rumors & Discussion
Scarilian replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
Perhaps, I'd expect them both to be in the most expensive set - due to popularity and focus in the film. I think however they split the villains, we'll get hopefully one or two from the same series as the Spider-man included. Yeah, that's also a possibility. Honestly I'm just glad we'll be able to get versions of these movie villains in Lego form. Only two sets to get the live-action MCU Sinister Six and revisit some Spider-men in the process, pretty cool if it ends up happening. I'd guess the sets will be releasing fairly early into 2022 judging from us hearing about the two sets now... perhaps we'll be lucky and get them in January. Soon, will be able to do a live-action OG Sinister Six Doc Ock (Spider-man 2 or Spider-man: NWH version) Electro (TASM 2 or Spider-man: NWH version) Sandman (Spider-man: NWH version) Vulture (Spider-man: Homecoming version) Mysterio (Spider-man: FFH version) Kraven (Hopefully an associated release near Sony's Kraven movie) Edit: 5 of the OG Sinister Six will be released in the 5 Spider-man: NWH sets, we already have an upgraded Vulture and Mysterio so as long as the other sets deliver on Doc Ock, Electro and Sandman then we're good :3 Still expecting a Legacy 10th anniversary Lego MCU wave, with the Avengers + Spider-man in gold. Spider-man has his 60th next year also. Lots of Marvel stuff to celebrate. I'm still betting on Avengers Tower D2C to celebrate the 10th anniversary.
