  1. Thanks for the reply Mort! It will be a while before I build this since it is fifth or sixth in line behind some other projects.
  2. I would be interested as well since I've just begun gathering the parts for this.
  3. Seconded on the Mos Eisle battlepack
  4. Thanks for the detailed post on the substitutions. I very much wanted to build the AT-AT but thought getting all of the parts would be too hard. Where can you buy the Novus polish?
  5. Does anyone still have the parts list for this? I was able to get the instructions from dropbox, but the Brickshelf link doesn't seem to be working. Thanks!
  6. Hello everyone, I need to removed the printing from a trans clear canopy. I've read about using Brasso and Magic Eraser to do this for solid colored pieces, but will it work on clear without scratching or making the canopy cloudy? Thanks.
  7. Hello, Still building this model. I like to jump around and build subsections before pulling everything together, so mostly have the bottom docking bay and the light bluish gray section at the stern attached to the frame. Since I'm not using the magnets, is it feasible to attach the bottom triangular hull pieces before adding the bridge superstructure, the center top dark red long piece and the engines? Thank you.
  8. What is an easy way to identify the length of a Technic axle? Would an axle 3 be the same length as a 1 x3 plate, an axle 4 the same as a 1 x 4, etc? Thanks!
  9. Hello everyone, Currently building a Venator and have read about the magnet holder replacements earlier in this thread - most noticeably the ones in this link: https://www.flickr.c...57652308655664/ For those that have used these brackets, how many were needed to hold the bottom (ventral) hull sections in place? Also are they needed for the top (dorsal) sections? Thanks!
  10. Thanks for the replies everyone! The build was a labor of love and a very enjoyable build. The lights for the engines are a LED strip doubled across the top and bottom of the engine housing. The LEDs came from an eBay auction. They're made to provide a wide variety of colors and flashing patterns, so if clear round plates are used the engines could be almost any color. The LED strips can somewhat be seen in these pictures: The rest of the lights and accessories came from http://lifelites.com The lights had to be tiny to work in the cockpit and with the tips of the mandibles. Some of the wiring can be seen in these pictures:
  11. Prelude There first I'd ever heard of someone brickling the UCS Millennium Falcon was on the Rebelscum forums. Up to that point had never heard of Bricklink but did own some of the first UCS sets. So because I couldn't afford the secondary prices for the set decided to give it a try. So a few years ago started ordering the elements with substitutions for the more costly parts. Close to the time all the parts were finally here, my dad died and there was fallout from this that lead to the Falcon being abandoned for awhile. Build For the next couple of years, slowly got back into building UCS sets, but kept putting off building the Falcon because I really wanted to savor the build - since there would probably never be another set like it. Finally got to building in earnest when I stumbled across Eurobricks and the mods featured here, especially those by Scottish Dave. Those provided the inspiration to make changes in the engine and also use dark gray for the six exhaust circles instead of black and landing gear doors. Electronics Really wanted to make the Falcon special by using lights. This turned into a major hurdle with planning and installation (not to mention cost). My Falcon was primarily inspired by its appearance in the Empire Strikes Back with some compromises. Anyway thanks for reading and grateful acknowledgement to those who provided advice and inspiration for my Falcon.
  12. Started building my Venator about a week ago. Ordered the elements about 1 1/2 - 2 years ago with a lot of substitutions for the 1 x 16 and 1 x 14 Technic beams. Have really enjoyed the build so far.
  13. My thinking was do the new features really add to the newer version. I'm also contemplating buying the new one and making the old one a different ship from red squadron, like Red One.
  14. Is the second UCS series x-wing worth getting if you already have the first version? Thanks.
  15. I bricklinked this set but it was a few years ago. I used the silver wheels for the engines and they don't really stick out that much. It is one of my favorite Lego sets hands-down - well worth building!
  16. Really stunning build. The detail is phenomenal.
  17. I heartily agree.
  18. Thank you very much for offering the instructions for building this! Hope to build this in the future.
  19. Great job on this! Really like the way it looks on your stand.
  20. Really nice! Thank you for sharing your build.
  21. Clever use of the droid domes. Are you going to do anymore Star Wars ships?
  22. Very nice design! Was always disappointed we didn't get to see the B-wings in action in ROTJ.
  23. Jeff, How many of the magnet replacements did you have to build i.e. was it the same number of magnets called for in the instructions? Do you have a list of the parts used and the quantities for each one? Thanks!
  24. Kashyyk Troopers & Death Star Troopers on clearance from Walmart.
  25. Congrats on your build! I thought about doing this as well but there are so many elements in the build. Very nice work!
