This is really cool! Thanks for sharing!

I know this is an old topic, but I've got a new project I'm working on and I'm thinking of using BBB medium drivers. I know I saw a reference to the size of the wheels of the real locomotive to the size BBB wheels that would look best. I just can't remember where I saw this topic... I'm working on a Baldwin decapod #1630 that is running at the Illinois Railway Museum and it has 52" drivers. I'm thinking BBB medium wheels might look best... What do you guys think? Haha, never mind! I just had to scroll up!

Lego Pneumatic train build... [Dump blog thing]
ALCO replied to Electricsteam's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Do you use Brickficiency? I have no idea how you would go about creating a wanted list in bricklink without it. You can import your LDD and it matches up your LDD file with known parts for sale on bricklink. You can quickly figure out what colors are not real, or even figure out cheaper options for parts...a little more work. But the cool thing is that you can upload your model's BOM to a bricklink wanted list. I have found that with smaller models it will even figure out the best store combinations to purchase from. However, you still have to be mindful of minimum purchases. I don't currently know of any other options than this one. -
3D LEGO, Thank you for your compliments! I am really enjoying the fact that I can now begin to brick out my creations. The Challenger: has already undergone a major revision since that rendering and I agree with you, I have a 3977 in the two-tone gray and I like that better than 3985 which is the normal black. When I brick out a Challenger it will be 3977 in two-tone gray. Thank you! Thank you for your comments on the 4-4-0. I don't recall ever seeing one with horn or antlers by the headlight...but antlers up there would look pretty cool. I can't remember where/how/when I saw the cow skull on the cow-catcher but I really like it there and it looks cool. The Class C Shay locomotive is just a MOD of someone else's creation. I want to say the original creator is Steven Pakbaz? Either way, his Class A Shay was my base. I wanted to have the batter be in a tender and not pretending to be a log so I could only do a Class C or Class D. I did think of the moving trucks under the platform and I think I have it solved. I won't know for sure until I brick it out. Unfortunately I won't be doing any more bricking out until the fall. At least, that is when I anticipate available funds for such projects.

<p>Well a rise from the Dark Ages would not be complete without bricking out a MOC. Behold!! I bring you an America 4-4-0!! My first MOC to brick out since emerging in the light. I learned a lot from this project. Small and simple...best to start there. Next one should be easier because I have a better understanding of the process and everything Anyway, there is a first road test video in the album here:https://flic.kr/s/aHskv4Z2yT Enjoy!!

Wow! Looks great! BTW, I totally knew exactly what you were building and what it would look like when I saw the box of bricks.

Interesting...very interesting! I love your collapsing bridge, that is really cool! I am just about finished bricking out my first MOC after my Dark Ages...a 4-4-0 American as well! When it is all done, I will post photos and videos.- 18 replies

Very nice fleet you have there pirzyk! I especially like the orange and white one.

Very nice! I once rode the Regionale Veloce and really enjoyed looking at the Italian trains and locomotives! They are so different from anything in the United States, I really began to appreciate what you have over there.

Thank you all for your thoughts and input! I greatly appreciate it!

Cute! You think it might be possible to put a train motor in the base and maybe have a (battery) tender disguised as a box car or something? ...that is if you use PF or just the train motor for 9v... I have long been annoyed at how dark my steamers look in bluerender...now why didn't I think of GIMPing them before I post them...? Great idea! I'm doing that from now on!

Thanks!! I'm releaved to hear that cutting hoses is purist approved! Excellent! Thank you all for your input and suggestions! I'm sure I can cut some cost and save some headache on Bricklink by picking up some tubing in bulk and just cutting the sizes I need.

Hello, I have discovered that it would be great if TLG had a 2L bar/hose. the 3L bar/wand is great and the 4L light-sword is also great but a 2L bar would be amazing! What are people currently doing when they find themselves in need of a 2L bar? I have seen some that look like a 3mm hose that is 2L used as a foot rung on rolling stock with 2 droid arms. Like on this beautiful boxcar built by Cale Leiphart. https://www.flickr.c...mpoweredbricks/ Are you guys (purists close your eyes) cutting a 3mm hose from TLG or do you get a cheaper one from a hardware store and cut that to size? Just curious to know what people are doing. Thanks!

Oh! I can't wait to see the TARDIS train!!

Sounds like fun! My gears are already spinning!

I love the idea! it's definitely much more realistic and looks like a really great project. Looks like you need some more weight on those drivers though.

Do you have a video of this one running? I'd love to see it!

I have a lot of projects started in LDD. I call them unfinished because I haven't built them with real bricks yet. This is mostly a function of space and funds. This one, I'm sure I'll have to build soon so my wife continues to allow me to build. Since we are both huge Harry Potter fans it's pretty much a given. Still working on the pullman coaches. I'm trying to figure out how to SNOT the windows to give them more detail than the big blocky ones. And I like the dark red/maroon from the movies. So trying to stick with that color scheme. But the next one to be bricked out will be the first one I ever started building....only it has been completely rebuilt from the ground up at least eleventeen times. Not including untold minor revisions along the way as well. This one is all brick-link ready. All I have to do is fill up some carts and go shopping once the funds are secured!

I certainly would! -
Well thank you! Now I have you to blame for causing me to redesign my next project to brick-out! I am totally redoing the connection between engine and tender of my 2-10-0 decapod because of your "one stud" clearance...there was no way I could be happy with my shabby design! Thank you for inspiring me to excellence! I knew I could have done better but now I know I have to do better and to net settle for anything less! Great work! It truly is inspirational!
