  1. I got two of the WV train and am very happy with them! I'd like to get a 3rd and mash two of them together to build a 4-6-2 MOC I designed. So then I could have a cute little winter Christmas train and then a really cool Christmas MOC!!
  2. I got the Winter Village Holiday Train from two different people! I know some folks here have some opinionated views about it, I'm thrilled to have two of them!
  3. Very cool idea! How about double slips and r104 switches?
  4. I've been out of touch for almost a month... I did manage to back but am disappointed it fell through. I agree with others in that offering PF switches first is the best way to go to get started. I also agree that restarting the campaign the same time as Brick World Chicago is a great idea! Have you thought about having a booth to gain more exposure? Or what if you were able to provide some demo pieces that some of the club's could integrate in their layouts with info along side to help attendees see the value of backing? I saw Penn LUG playing with a white switch at BW this past June... Can you make more to loan to other layouts for that show? Speaking of that, and NOT speaking for NILTC, would they be friendly to you having some info at their big show in December that the general public can get their hands on ( collect email addresses )to update with your progress so maybe they will back with the relaunch? I am so excited for this to happen I'm sure you have already thought about a lot of these things already. Coaster, going to send you a PM.
  5. Can you print custom designs? In the next couple months I will need to figure out how to get a pretty detailed design in white on a black 1x1 tile. Do you print on the pieces or create stickers? NathanR, I do not mean to hijack your topic but this is very relevant to me.
  6. Do you know of if he does customs work or only official sets? Also, do you have his Eurobricks name or any other way to contact him?
  7. While I am not an owner of a Big Boy...yet...but..Those are fighting words! and that is one IMPRESSIVE locomotive!! If it does not have any XL PF motors, how it is powered and how much does it weigh over the powered wheels? These I am curious about!
  8. Just now seeing this for the first time. Wow! this looks incredible! When are you going to build it with real bricks?
  9. I love it! soo cool! Now my gears are turning...not just for a rotary dump but for an automated "fare-dodger" pen! Automatic opening and closing doors and a mechanism to gently herd the "fare-dodgers" along into the waiting wagons.
  10. OH! Thanks to ebay I have just been able to see it for the first time! Very clever! It looks like the only track included are curved tracks! Also, it looks like there is 1 blind driver...interesting. Has anyone else noticed that the flat car has...it looks like a 6L axle in the PF train wheels and axle pins with no friction ridges in the back...very interesting...
  11. Did you comment on the photo and ask the owner/poster of the photo if they know?
  12. I have been eyeing this design for a while now. I'm still not quite convinced the piston connection to the rods will work...at lease I can't seem to get it to line up right in LDD... I don't have the space/time for really trying it with bricks just now. Wow! Those upgrades look fantastic!!! Do you have a video of this beaut running? I'd love to see it!
  13. There are a bunch of cool little shunters that use PF train motors, battery boxes, and IR receivers. Check out these just to name a few: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=120980&hl=shunter http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=123190&hl=shunter http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=129251&hl=shunter#entry2531193 http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=133908&hl=shunter If you have the Rechargeable battery box, I think you can adjust the power so that the train motor doesn't go too fast. The 3rd one down, uses more of a technic style power-train. Since the L motor has more torque and less speed than the Train Motor, this might be a good option for a little shunter. Plus, since the battery box is on the locomotive, you will have more traction because of the added weight. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with!
  14. That looks really sharp!
  15. In this image it looks like you could disconnect the converter cable from the output of the receiver and put the receiver input on top of the converter that is on the battery box...does that work?
  16. Welcome aboard! Nice little locomotive you've got there!
  17. Thanks! If you need more photos of my design, I can put more up on my flickr. I have been experimenting with pushing them out another half technic beam on either side to accommodate Zephyr's rods.
  18. Oh! I really like that engine! technic lift-arm cylinders can be challenging. I don't use your wheel set up where you've got BFB for your drivers but that should make it easier for the cylinders. I usually have technic bricks running down the very middle then use 3L pins to hold these on... two on each side. Then I use these and a 1/2 pin with stud on the end to hold two of these, one in the front and one in the back on each siide. Then a 3L technic beam in the middle held in place with a friction pin. All together it looks something like this. On the front of the cylinders, you have the studs from the pin and shooters to for your cylinder caps (1x1 round tile, and 2x2 round tile). I hope all that makes sense...
  19. Yes, I tried that and if you build in Extended mode and have pieces in the wrong color it rejects your file and doesn't tell you want was wrong so you can fix it.
  20. Hi, I have started using LDD Manager since Brickficiency is now unsupported and no longer works. I find that LDD Manager is better than other programs like Brickstock because I can import an LDD creation and then export a Bricklink Wanted List. While using this program I have noticed that it supports BrickSetVersion 1264 while my LDD is BrickSetVersion 2075. I think this is the cause of my issues...In that my models are using newer parts. With some parts, LDD Manager tells me which parts are new and so I can write them down and manually add those to my wanted list. However, with other parts, I have no idea. They just are not there at all. I know this because in LDD I have a total of say, 2500 parts. By in LDD Manager I have a total of say 2400 parts. Then I see 295 unique elements in LDD Manager but my BOM Export from LDD says I have 305. While these numbers are not totally unruly, they are just enough so to be a pain. 1. Will LDD Manager support BrickSetVersion 2075? 2. Are there any methods, strategies, Excel formulas (vlookup and such), or whatever to quickly identify the missing elements? I have tried using a vlookup but with very little success. I would greatly appreciate any thoughts, ideas, or insights!
  21. I'm not part of a LUG yet, but hope to join NILTC soon. Since I like building large North American steam, large radii switches would be fantastic! I'm looking forward to the kickstarter!
  22. I know what you mean about having space to run them! I have a loop of track set up on the ping-pong table at my parent's house. I've convinced them to keep it up till after my young nephew visits later in the summer so we can play with them together, then it all comes down and goes into storage. That totally makes sense! Maybe that's one of the reasons I build in 8-wide... I have definitely faced that challenge...how in all these bricks am I going to cram all this PF stuff in here!? It really can be annoying, that's for sure!
  23. Looks pretty good! I also do a lot of building in LDD since I don't have the space yet. I mostly build 8-wide American steam engines. Fortunately they are mostly black and gray though I do like the colors of yours, it is definitely more interesting to look at. There used to be a great program called Brickficiency that was great at helping you figure out if you had parts in real colors...since the redesign of Bricklink, the developer of Brickficiency has since stopped supporting his software. I starting to use Brickshop but its nowhere near as simple to use. Anyway, it looks really good. If you were to build it, how would it be powered? I don't see an IR receiver or space for a battery box anywhere... If you follow the link in my signature, there are some cut-away views of some of my builds that might help with some ideas. BTW welcome to the community!
