  1. Thinking about which glue might work with LEGO is the same as thinking which spices might work if I were to cook a dog. I simply don't theorize about things that are not done in a mentally stable society.
  2. Whaaat? I was aware of the blue ones being retired, but no one mentioned the regular green plates are gone too. I need to stack up on them while I can find them. The bright friends and creator color is useless.
  3. no, no, no... we need a creator train, one that isn't HE Creator expert trains were the perfect set. They were more detailed and excluded all the stuff you don't need which normally drives the price up (like tracks and electrical parts), so you could afford 2 sets to make a proper train. Why are all the good things going EOL just after my dark ages. First the modulars have gone all kiddie looking, now we are loosing the trains.
  4. Cool. They look like Thelma & Louise.
  5. yep, classic air cooled Volkswagens which is more of an outdoor, summer hobby, while LEGO is my cold winter occupation.
  6. If there will be so many 2x2 tiles, this will again be the hardest cmf series to feel by touch. They have no head pieces, so accessories are the only thing to go by. I won't collect them out of principle, because Barney wasn't included and I don't support the reasons why. The whole alcohol censorship really bugs me.
  7. Would that mean European prices won't increase this year? Are they just normalising the price difference? CMF's were 3$ from retailers in Europe and about 4$ from LEGO, also baseplates sometimes exceed 8$ and roadplates sell at 12$ This is all very normal to me. Since most of if not all of the two mentioned is manufactured in eu or china, I don't see any import costs going in favor for the american market. What is the reason for the price inconsistency in the first place?
  8. I just want my chimney sweep, in fact i just need the butcher/ice cream vendor cap in black, I can do the rest myself. And any figures with interesting hair and/or animals are always welcome, don't really care what their calling is.
  9. This might be out of your interest group. But I really think the Creator line needs a good tram. -That is to go with all the modulars. I love the trains, but just have nowhere to put them, which means eventually you have to take it all apart. A nice old "Lisbon / San Francisco" style tram that goes "ding" "ding" would make my dreams come true.
  10. For me the "stepping on a brick" joke was funny just the first 10 times. When the same joke gets recycled into oblivion, it becomes very old. The memes have spread so widely, that when I mention LEGO to anyone who is not into it, they almost always make some comment / joke about stepping on a brick, even if they have zero experience of actually being in contact with any bricks their whole life, they just repeat stuff they saw on the internet.
  11. Why is there a limit of max 1 per customer in European LEGO online shop, but 5! in USA region?
  12. Can anyone please confirm that the DO box is smaller than PR? and by roughly how much? Our S@H is very slow on getting new stuff and LEGO online doesn't deliver to Croatia, and i'm an impatient boy, so considering ordering it from Belgium to my hotel, but not sure if the box would pass as hand luggage on those small Dash propeller planes.
  13. I wonder if someone who works for TLG could clarify a bit where this theme is going. I have a feeling the "goofy play features" and numbing down weren't Jamie Berard's own initiated idea, but it probably wasn't unintentional either. Someone chose to do it this way, and had a reason for it. Can we know why? The world doesn't owe me anything, but it would help to know. If it continues, i'll be looking into new hobbies or a different theme to collect.
  14. Isn't the word "modular" used with these buildings because it was originally intended for them to get expanded? Since they all looked ok from a single set, not many people actually bought more of the same set just to add a floor. Now you might start to. Since DO is barely over the line of worth buying for me, i'm likely not getting 2 of them, but I can see many falling for this.
  15. Didn't get any LEGO, but I did buy some for someone, which is still stuck in the post holiday nightmare somewhere instead of being here on the 24th. Thank you for providing names and / or pictures when you post. set numbers are very tiresome, and not everyone has every number in their head.
  16. 1. Green Grocer. Although I don't actually own the set (yet) i feel it was the best overall. 2. Paris Restaurant - Most complete modular of all, only slight downside is size, but i can live with that. 3. Grand Emporium - I just like the concept of a vintage shopping mall, and is realistically represented 4. Cafe Corner - the revolution of modulars - I don't have it, but would very much like to. 5. Pet Shop - I like residential buildings and would like more of them, but the idea of a pet shop itself doesn't do anything for me. 6. Fire brigade - The exterior detail is great, although i'm not too keen on fire stations. The car is not up to standard. 7. Town Hall - I like the color and the idea and size of it, but it's aesthetically non-dynamic. It's good, but not incredible. 8. Palace cinema - STICKERS!! And the whole Chinese style is a bit of a waste of potential for a cinema, (the car is horrible) 9. Market street - I can see the charm of it at the time of release, but now compared to all the others, I think it struggles to compete. I think the upcoming set will score in the lower middle with me.
  17. I wish the roadplates would be re-branded as single plates or at least two of the same as it used to be. I don't know a single person who is not annoyed by this.
  18. You fixed it! The expanding is nice, but not overly necessary for me, however when you changed the blue to brown, that is it, that's how it was supposed to be.
  19. @Gongoro: I had the same idea, but not sure if it works. I guess if you know what it is, then it's most definitely out of place and scale, but if you don't know Trevi and think of it as a generic park fountain (like you have in southern Spain), then it might work. It's really not so much a memorable landmark nor is it so accurately depicted in LEGO form that it would be unmistakeable. This is not the best placement, but is the best I could do in my current limited space. The fountain has no back, so it would be better suited against a wall. Maybe it could do without some elements and a bit of modification.
  20. heheh, I was kind of hoping you'd take a hint. I quite like that. Are 1x2 tiles available in that color?
  21. Unlike all those TLG stations that look like a control tower with blue windows, This looks like an actual police station. May not be fair to compare a modular building with city sets, but this must have been a hard task, using white and building something that's not entirely stereotipical in design (like a police station). You've done a fantastic job, I don't often say this, but if that was a set, i'd go and buy it tomorrow. Did you consider applying for Ideas?
  22. I thought the hot dog guy was supposed to be advertising hot dogs, not some fanatic lunatic who dresses up in his favorite food.
  23. cool. I'll be checking this out every day, you may give me some ideas. Although i'm more a fan of controversial figures which I know TLG won't make.
  24. I wonder what the detective building would look like if the masonry bricks were substituted for the technique used for the brick pattern on the Fire Brigade but in the same flesh color. I know the two aren't supposed to represent the same type of wall, but just wondering.
  25. I don't see how the story would be in the way of anything, you can just ignore the story, so what if there's a hidden hatch to stash cookies? just don't open it. However using bright colors and simplifying the building to appeal to kids is a bit harder to ignore, and that's where the line should be drawn as it interferes with what modular buildings started off as. A visually realistic representation of familiar architectural design in LEGO. Is it possible that this Idea is still an experimental theme after 10 sets?
