Disney Collectible Minifigures Series 1 Discussion
Sven F replied to just2good's topic in LEGO Licensed
There's another example of minidoll rubber hair on a minifigure, it's the hairpiece that Kai from Ninjago has, and for some reason I think there is at least another example. I think the minidoll hairs stay exclusive to those figures because they are characters with names so they need to keep their identity since the hair on a minidoll is the only thing you can really change, without the hair, you can't even tell who is who as they change clothes from set to set anyway.- 4,155 replies

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 15 Rumors and Discussion

You do realize that the leg assembly technically uses 3 molds? hips, right leg, left leg, and even if the hips were the same, that's still two molds, which means two machines. I vote highly unlikely, but the flute would make the figure interesting outside of its primary niche. -

Apart from the annoying hole on top, I never had a minidol hairpiece look weird on a minifigure, haven't tried ariels yet though, but I imagine the cheapness is more to the unnatural bright red color- 4,155 replies

With all things that always advance like LEGO, people keep neglecting that everything eventually reaches critical mass. In 1990 we had the Breezeway cafe which was then considered a fairly large set, but looking at it from today's perspective it's a joke with 180 pieces just very cleverly put together to give the impression of a building. Today we complain when there's a slight reduction in size on a 2500 pc. set, we see the inclusion of stickers on an expensive set as a personal insult, no back-printing on a minifigure? Scandalous! There's no going back anymore, we will never again be satisfied with anything less, so if sets keep advancing, and our expectations keep going up, there will have to be a time when we'll have to accept that this is it, We probably live in the golden ages of LEGO (although such titles can only be given in retrospect) if that didn't put you back on the wagon, I doubt anything will.

I think a lot of dark ages happened in the late 90's when lego was at its worst with bulky, stupid elements. I lost interest because my theme (town) was thrown closer to duplo than advanced build. There's also a certain pattern I think with age, around 16 you get into other things and your budget is limited, so naturally the less important hobby falls short. It was also a time with much less possibilities. no bricklink, no PaB, no bulk, not even devoted stores, no internet flickrs for inspiration, and most importantly for me no natural colors. Tan only started appearing around '98 in very limited amounts. LEGO has really evolved now, but there was a big stutter at that certain time when it didn't follow my rapidly expanding expectations.

Those are really incredible... I think i might want to bricklink me some of those, of course if Luc doesn't mind.

In Belgium there's also a € 50 difference between the helicarrier, but Germany is for some reason cheaper, same thing with the Brick Bank. How did Germans get to have such great deals? Is LEGO tax subsidized there? In the case of modulars it means for every 3, you could get a 4th one free if you buy it there instead. -

The day a proper guitar, meaning acoustic, appears in CMF, i'm going out for dinner to celebrate. We've had like 4 or 5 designs with yet even more printing, and not a single classic guitar was ever made in LEGO form. -

I don't see a reason why the building couldn't be both hinged AND dividable into floors, it can be done. -

LEGO should supply a spare sticker sheet with large sets. Stickers cost next to nothing and it would ease the problem significantly as they eventually fall apart and need to be replaced. With a 350$ set, i'd be reluctant to apply any stickers, should probably make replicas to use and store the originals in a safe place. -

Now I am wondering how much % of this price I can get back by selling off the figures to fetishists, since I only care about the building. -

Well it is what it is, I expect it to be jam packed inside, not to sound like an ungrateful child, but i'm still waiting to be impressed. Lots of people were crying they want two modulars per year, so there you have it... sort of. -
That looks impressive. I had this planned, except i would solder the smd's myself as it's way cheaper, but i still haven't worked out a good way of routing all the wires so I can easily disconnect and separate the floors and buildings for cleaning. Messy wiring upsets me. also i think i'd have to drill the lamp posts which goes against my moral beliefs.

In the video it sure looks like a 1x4, and I thought the old piece was way too bulky, but now that i tried it out, I no longer think so. I admit there's a possibility that it could work. Though we are probably still getting a new piece.- 4,155 replies

Billund Airport 4000016 bad quality bricks
Sven F replied to BrickOn's topic in General LEGO Discussion
When I got out of the dark I was overwhelmed by all the new colors in LEGO bricks, but this effect in pearl gold and silver left a very bad impression on me. I got used to it in the meantime, but I still think they shouldn't produce those colors until they can do them right. I understand your disappointment. -
Your town needs a change of mayor. He shouldn't let such big trucks drive in the city centre. They ruin the cobblestones. Truck looks good, I like your choice of wheels and 8-wide seems perfect for this vehicle. It could maybe use some variation in the color scheme though.

Pleasantly surprised on the clutz, but that receptionist sounds disappointing, was really hoping for a suited person, old school style. Glad the Queen uses a separate crown so i can use her hair, I use calamity's hair for a prostitute in my town. I still highly doubt her dress is that old basic 2x4 Those crutches have a lot of potential alternative uses. -

I am hoping you are giving TLG too much credit for political correctness. I can pull a moral issue out of almost anything. Cars pollute, butchers cut up animals, pirates rob and rape and if we had a ringmaster and it din't sound any alarms, i'm pretty sure an exterminator is fine. -

I am patiently waiting for TLG to forever stop making moulded heads like the simpsons since their use is obviously limited which kind of misses the whole point of lego. If you like ready-made characters to collect on a shelf, there are plenty of manufacturers that do just that.- 4,155 replies

I'd place my bet on the animal control being an exterminator, probably without any animals. The list finally gives us town builders some proper normal civilian figures after a long time. I am liking a lot of this and hoping the rest at least come with cool hairpieces. -

C'mon you know there are all kinds of weirdos around here who actually like that sort of thing, let's not spread their awareness of any minifig-inspired abortions. I'm starting to think there won't be any classic characters in this at all or that there will only be classic characters with no recent Pixar stuff.- 4,155 replies

What do you think is the best Advent Calendar?
Sven F replied to 6ix's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Last year's City calendar had some nice extra parts like a double minifig wig which you don't normally get as extra. The SW one seemed crappy to me because of lots of mini-builds which aren't really useful for anything but tiny parts. I also wouldn't know what to do with santa vader or other figures in Christmas clothing. SW calendars are more expensive. Friends are ok, but most of the colors they use aren't useful to me, and neither are the minidolls apart from their wigs. I only buy them if I see a good discount, as these are really for children who see those bricks with different (less judgemental) eyes -
This may or may not be partly due to nostalgia, but I honestly think the best police station LEGO ever made was in 1983. Set 6384 Especially for that time it was very advanced, didn't look like an airport control tower like every police set does today, didn't use any ugly green or blue tint on windows, and it had a working garage door which is just loads of fun.
