  1. Five or less stores sounds pretty good to me. I know it took me more than that when I BL'd my GG. Andy D
  2. Well, I don't smoke or drink at all. I'm mostly a homebody and my wife encourages my LEGO hobby, she likes to see my creations, and she helps me stage my Halloween and Christmas displays (she has a great eye for that). She really likes the modulars as well and is always encouraging me to get the next one (as if I need encouragement to get them). My first modular was the CC (Bricklinked) because it reminded me of a cafe we visited in Marseille. Andy D
  3. Very nice! Detailing on the front roof line very interesting. Lots of style and interest in the colors and design. Wonderful small modular. Andy D
  4. While arranging my WV sets for my WV display, I find that to me, the WV cottage and the WV Carousel seem out of scale with the rest of the buildings and other things like the bench areas, the gazebo and the skate rink from the bakery. Even out of scale with the Christmas tree that came with the Toy Shop. There is not much that I can see that can be done about the carousel, but I may try to MOD the cottage to make it smaller. Has anyone else modded the cottage to make more in scale? Would you be willing to share photos you have for a kick-start with mine? Thanks, Andy D
  5. I forgot about the parts for the "lights" on the roof. These parts are from the WV Bakery or WV Toy Shop. Andy D
  6. This is very nice, Kristel. Your modulars continue to impress! The changing room is even large enough for a mini fig bride! Andy D
  7. Additional parts for my expansion... 2 brown 1x4 plate and 1 dark green 1x4 plate for filler on the sides and front. 1 brown 1x4 brick for the middle front. 2 tan 1x1 bricks for the middle front fillers below the tan arch piece. 1 (any color) I had brown arch window 1 gold window lattice. Some white plates for snow. 4x various length and 2 2x6 white plates on right side for snow. Various 1x1 round plates for flowers Several 1x1 white round plates for snow Several 1x1 white "cheese" slopes for snow. I had all this in my parts bins, if you have spares just find what will do and looks good to you. Not many parts needed, all common. Andy D The conveyer belt does not fit in my extension, you may have to make it a little wider to fit the conveyer. Andy D
  8. I really like the Space Slugs, I need to build some for my Halloween display for next year. They are even a Halloween color. Andy D
  9. I don't usually care much for cars and trucks. I built the fire truck just to see if there were any interesting techniques, the took it apart and into the parts bin. I do like the bicycles, motor scooters and street vendors. I usually have something out of the ordinary, like a moon buggy in front of the FB and a TARDIS beside the GE and a mini Mini Cooper beside the TARDIS just to look more London-ish. I guess I do like small vehicles, just not the fire truck or PC limo size. Just MHO, YMMV Andy D
  10. I was also wondering how to use the 40106 (Toy Workshop) with the 101245 (Santa’s Workshop) then I found this thread. Thanks to mouseketeer I found a way. I liked what he had done, but I wanted to add my own touches. I started out like mouseketeer, then I rotated the base plate of the first workshop to make it 8x6 instead of 6x8 made a mirror image with the second set and started modifying and decorating. After much experimentation I added an arched window between the 2 square windows. Decorated the window sills with some poinsettias and I thought the toys were just too cute to not use somehow, so I had the two graders moving snow and the two toy soldiers supervising. 40106 - Toy Workshop x2 by MyPlasticBricks, on Flickr Below is Santa’s Workshop with the expansion. I think it turned out well and is a great addition to my Winter Village (Now Santa's Village). 10245 - Santa's Workshop with expansion by MyPlasticBricks, on Flickr Thanks to mouseketeer for the original idea. 11. All the things you said about the PC are why I like LEGO so much. To me LEGO is art. The sets are the art of the set designer, they take it as far as time and money will allow, then it is up to us. I usually build sets as-is, then if there is something I didn't like I change it. I look at the sets as a beginning point (not an end point) it gives me something to do to add my own touches and make it my own and add my own creativity and artistic touches. To me LEGO is not about the models, it is about the art. Just MHO, YMMV Andy D
  12. I only saw one post upset with you. (Well maybe 2) While I may differ from some of your opinions, they are yours. Andy D
  13. Once again Jamie and the Creator/Modular team do not disappoint! I will definately but my usual 2 copies of this set! There is just so much to like, the colors, interesting parts usage and the build. Andy D
  14. Wow! Thanks for all the great replies, it certainly gives me something to chew on. Andy D
  15. Usually the cars from sets go straight to my parts bin. Just MHO, YMMV Andy D
  16. Thanks. It is much bigger this year, not sure exactly what I will do next year, but the castle will still be a big part of it. Monster Fighters pieces and minifigs just cry out to be used for Halloween. Andy D
  17. Thanks for the replies. Certainly gives me something to contemplate. BTW: I thought I posted it in the train forum (senior moment)... Silly mistake. Where was it? Andy D
  18. Very, very nice! I really like the size. Right I between the 8x8 mini modulars and the full size ones, really good space conserving size. The interiors are also very good. I also am looking forward to more. Andy D
  19. This is maybe the best modular yet (IMHO)! Yes, yes, yes I will purchase and it may even move to the front of my "to be assembled queue" I really like all the activity on the sidewalk, looks like a very busy place. Andy D
  20. I bought the The Lone Ranger Constitution Train Chase (79111) with the idea of making a Christmas train from it. I'm not much of a train person, but I do want a Christmas train and I need ideas of how to "Christmas the 79111 up". Has anyone seen any photos of a Christmas train made from the 79111? Thanks Andy D
  21. I seem to remember in the last video where Jamie introduced the PR he discussed champaign for a proposal and he said the couple was going to the room upstairs, hinting that an unmarked couple was staying the night in a room together. Hmmm......
  22. Great! I'm really liking your build videos. How long did this build take? It appears to me that you must have put a few parts on, taken a still image and repeat. What software do you use for the effects? Thanks for sharing this. Andy D
  23. Wow! This is great. It looks like Metal Beard just added a few parts and transformed himself into a Super Cycle. Great Steampunk motorcycle! Andy D
  24. touthomme -- This is outstanding. One part of a GBC on steroids! I particularly like how the "particle" accelerates more with each loop. Andy D
  25. There is a really excellent thread in LEGO General discussion on storage and sorting. It is about 45 pages long (at this time) but well worth a read. It had almost everything anyone could want to do with storage and sorting. I still refer to it often. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=26213&st=0 I hope this helps, Andy D
