    I don't have high hopes for the train controller. In my experience the slow reaction time ruins the whole thing. I was hoping for a new controller, similar to the current one, with a sensitive level, which would allow you to steer at smaller angles also, and drive it with slower speeds. Am I right that it is something which is technically possible?

    The reason why I don't like putting studs in technic holes is that only part of the stud is in contact with the hole, since the hole is wider at the edge.

    This is really great. When I build the original model, I was also thinking on motorizing the functions, but I thought the available space is too small. And you not only made it motorized, you also added one more functions, grats! I noticed you have several digitally created images in your brickshelf folder, does that mean you maybe has an LDD file? That would be great if you could share it.

    I hope it is not. I don't like the idea of releasing these basic parts just to make the design easier. It is part of the challenge, to solve something without pieces like this.

    Everyone says that about WD40, and I have no doubt that it is true. But I used WD40 on my 8043 (because I could not find silicon oil anywhere), and after I disasembled it, I saw no visible damage on the parts.

    For me, technic is about interesting complex solutions, which dazzle me. Neither the front loader nor the pickup seems to deliver any of that. I'm afraid this will be the worst second half year for me since I got back from my dark age. At least I hope this is not a new trend, and we will see good complex models in the future again.

    I think it is pointless to argue over what is interesing for the kids. I bet lego made a lot of tests, and they know it much better than us.

    I have no doubt it will be fun to play with after it is build, but technically it seems to be boring to be honest. I hope there will be some unexpected feature in it.

    That could be solved with a new type of controller, where the lever would be analogue instead of just sending min,0,max to the receiver. But what about the speed of the servo? If I switch from min to max on the controller, the servo turns 180 degrees really fast, do you think that it could streer such a big wehicle so fast? Maybe a modified servo which could do much more than 90 degrees? Then it could drive a LA. Not sure if it is technically doable.

    I doubt lego doesn't know about this wish. But I'm not sure if it is so good bussines for them, I mean it has more parts, but they sold it the same price as the normal crawler? So maybe the main purpose of this set was just marketing. Also they said from the very beginning that there will be only 20k set, that is the whole point of the limited edition. If they changed their mind later, and release more than 20k, then they would make themself inconsistent, wouldn't they?

    I understand why you don't like combining LA and pneumatic in the same set, but I like the idea. Not to mention if this is the first set for someone, then they get LA (both normal and mini) and pneumatics. As a kid I would have killed for such a diverse set.

    I watched the whole video, it was really fun to watch them. Reminds me of our cats playing around. Did you use a proportional controller for the one with the claw?

    I'm not happy with it, but I'm not surprised. I guess an opening door gives more playability to kids than adjustable wings. Realistic functions remains a task for those who are willing to spend time modding the set.

    It seems to me the plane has four functions: 1. retract gears 2. open door at back 3. open cabin 4. spin propellers Or at least this is what I see on the right side of the box.

    Could you please be more specific? I don't understand this. I think the building process is epic, however (as others said before me) the functions are not perfect unfortunately. In my case for example, raising/lowering the bucked had so much friction, that it was really struggling even with an emply bucket (I think someone mentioned it too). It is not the arm which is too heavy to lift, it also struggles if I detach the linear actuators from the arm. In my case I think the friction is introduced below the arm turntable somewhere. When building of course I was trying to make everything smooth, but after I inserted the modul which prepares for the arm turntable, the train become very tight. Probably my fault, if I will have time, I will redo that section again.

    Another good one here: Not mine of course, just found it today. Seems to be pretty strong. Also note the 4 section boom, it looks great.

    When it comes to possible UCS technic set, my first thought is not necessary something big, but something unusual in functions, which kids would not like as much as the usual construction vehicles, or could not build it because of the lack of patience.     What confused me is that I didn't know the height of that item. Is it the same as this? Except that instead of stud holes, it has studs on the bottom? If so, then I think the height of that modul is not correct, there should be 5 stud difference between the two holes marked with the blue arrow here: But the height of the studded block (including the receiver) is slightly more than that (5.2 stud if I count correctly). I used the other part I mentioned, there is enough space for the wires luckily: Anyway again: this is a really great model, thanks again!

    I started building this, it is a really great build, feels like an official set. Thanks a lot for sharing, and grats! I have a question however. On page 22 of the instructions, some interesting part is used to hold the receiver, I've never seen this before. It seems the part list on rebrickable does not contain it. Any idea if I can replace it with the more common version? (http://www.bricklink...Item.asp?P=2444) I'm not sure how the height of them compares. This one:

    Someone mentioned the old 16t gear, and that finally they changed it and removed the teeth. I thought that now you can put a regular pin into the hole, but I surprised to see that only one side of the gear has the needed groove. So I think that the new 16t idle gear could be improved further.

    I thought that the height of a plate is not 1/2 stud, but 4/10 stud to be exact? Anyway I agree with you, I think a studless chasis is more complex/interesting, especially if it is correctly reinforced, like most of the official models. I don't wish at all for studded models.

    Looks really cool, grats! Are those 12t bevel gears in the diff strong enough to handle the torque? Didn't you break a few of them?
