There might be a few usable bits from the minifigs, but for the most part, everything looks too techy. I'll be curious what the leg and torso prints look like, but based on whats viewable, the legs prints already look too sci-fi to be usable in Castle. I'd have to imagine the torsos are the same case. While the shields could possibly get some use, at first glance they look too big and clunky. I'd like to get a better view of the closed visors, as those seem like they might have some use in traditional Castle settings. I think the thing that is most dissapointing is the new weapon/armor molds from Lego compared to what can be found from 3rd part accessory providers. I get excited at the thought of seeing new accessories from Lego, only to be dissapointed that they are frequently worse than what's already available from these 3rd party providers.

At this point, the minifigs and accessories are the only things that I have any real interest in. And that could very well change once I see them.

Hopefully the library won't be one wheels or legs too.

Hmm, there's very little in that Knighton Disc Launcher (as well as several of these sets) that a fan of Castle can make a lot of obvious use of.
-
I'm curious if the Black Falcon emblem is placeholder, or a shameless attempt by Lego to appeal to Castle purists with a theme they would otherwise turn their nose up at.
-
I agree, although its almost exactly what I expected. It does remind me a little of the GI Joe Mobile Command Center a friend had when we were young though, and we had a lot of fun with that...although it was appropriate for that setting.

No worries. This new info about the sets is pretty cool. Kinda nice to have something of substance to talk about on page 100 of the thread :) I also think these new set names do make this theme feel a bit more grounded.

Or people who know several languages, but not the one that needs translated

I wouldn't read too much into "Nexo" being the name of The Mech King. Basically every set on the site has the word "Nexo" at the front of it...so there's a very good chance the set is simply called "The Mech King".

Yeah, quite a few new set names, from the looks of it: Ultimate Monster Master (translate came up as "MasTer", not the "MasHer" that's listed in the original post. Chaos Coach Monster Master Fortrex - The Rolling Fortress Merlocks Library (exclusive) The Mech King And a few odd-ball items: Nexo Innovations Display (small and standard) Nexo Sweepstakes Package Nexo Window Decoration Nexo Lama

To paraphrase an old internet forum saying: "Link or it didn't happen." What sort of site are we talking about? Is it some sort of online store?

Thanks for all the suggestions. There are a few possibilities there...but I really kind of am hung up on the clothes being tattered. To be honest, I don't even know what "Xanth" is. Zombies have a pretty substantial history in medieval fantasy. My earliest memories of them in this setting came from the boardgame HeroQuest (which is probably a big inspiration for my wanting them in Lego form). I also remember seeing Zombies in old NES/SNES fantasy RPGs, like early Final Fantasy games. They've also been in Dungeon and Dragons for a long, long time. Plenty of other examples too.

I've been wanting to get/assemble a few zombies for the Castle setting, but I've come to a bit of a roadblock. I'm having a hard time finding Lego Zombies that would be appropriate in a Castle setting. I'm not interested in any of the liscenced theme interpretations of Zombies...rather the traditional gray Lego Zombie we've seen several interations of. The problem is that it seems most of the interations are meant for modern settings. The head really isn't a problem, as you could retrieve the head from nearly any gray Zombie and put it on to an appropriate body. I'd like it to look like a former civilian from the Castle era, but I'm not sure I've seen any appropriate bodies that have the tattered Castle civilian clothing that I could swap a zombie head onto. The only examples I've seen that would be remotely usable are the Zombie Bride....which is stupid expensive on the 2nd-hand market, and then there's the new Zombie Pirate. However, his clothing doesn't really look like tattered Castle civilian clothing...it looks like a Pirate captain's clothing (which in my mind isn't appropriate). Any suggestions?

Effort and Marketing are part of the factors that can lead toward popularity/sales....but it's still the end result that matters. Here's why: - if Lego marketed the crap out of a theme they put a ton of effort into, yet the theme just bombed...it would end a LOT quicker than intended. No sense in putting a lot of money and effort into a product that doesn't sell. - alternatively, if Lego had a theme that required almost no effort or marketing, yet sold like CRAZY....they would continue to produce that theme. They are a business, and it's easy money. Therefore...it's ultimately Popularity and Sales that determine the longevity of a theme/product.

In my experience, "soon" has always meant: "not as soon as you think they are suggesting".
-
Not that I'm aware of. I was just pointing out correlations between anime and some of the rumored designs for this theme.
-
I'd equate it to a particular style of movie or tv show, because that's what it is. I guess I need to elaborate. I do hate anime (with a passion). I'm not talking about a particular genre that it covers (since like you said...anime can cover all sorts of different genres). My problem is with the stylistic choices, abundance and reliance on cliches, and general approach to whatever content they cover as being juvenile in sensibility. Even the anime that is supposed to be more mature still feels like it relies on the corny cliches that I just can't take seriously. In this particular association with Nexo Knights, I'm speaking about the rumored stylistic choices. Many anime use the approach that throwing in mecha to any setting automatically makes it cooler. Lots of stylistic choices in anime are done with the notion that "looking cool" trumps many other points of consideration (which is unfortunate...because the common anime styling being "cool" is pretty debatable to begin with). That approach feels really shallow and flaky to me.

That description sounds like the sort of thing I'd expect in modern anime...and I HATE anime. Hopefully individual sets will provide some value. Were the lava golem type monsters something from the Nekchir debacle? I'd like elemental lava golems, but I'd really dislike tranformer lava monsters.

I enjoy Wolfpack builds :)
-
I think micro builds show the most creative use of parts. Nicely done.
-
Which then brings up the question of why even mention anything if it's not confirmed it can/will be shared?
-
That's fine. But you have to at least give a little leniency for asking about it. A remark was made from someone traditionally "in the know" about new info coming this week....so we waited for this week (per the remark)....and then nothing happened.
-
Did the "next week" have nothing to do with this thread?
-
This thread is depressingly quiet today. I already asked about this yesterday with no response, and since the week is now just about done...any update?
-
Until we get some pics for proof, I would not say this is clearly anything, yet.
