  1. So....about that supposed update for this week... (this thread has been a regurgitation of the same info and opinions being cycled by different people for the past "I don't know how many" pages....we need something of substance, like was hinted at for this week).
  2. It was mentioned in the past week or so (by just2good, if I remember correctly), that we should be getting more info this week. This is just a check-in about that comment, since we've passed the midway point of the week and still have yet to see anything. At least, I hope that wasn't in reference to the Power Rules book...as that wasn't really anything of substance.
  3. Pulling a Nekchir and doing a "joke" that you are the only one in on is bad form. We are all a bit antsy right now, but if anything, everyone needs to relax and lighten up. Some relevant jokes about pop culture shouldn't be taboo. Not everyone is going to get it, but that's the nature of a joke. Making a "confirmed" joke in response to an outlandish statement isn't that rare on the Internet...and has previously happened in this very thread, if I'm not mistaken. A simple explanation if someone asks, and no harm done.
  4. Gunblades. It was a joke referencing my joke about projectile swords.
  5. You've seen the projectile guns and missiles....now make way for the projectile sword blades! (Sigh....)
  6. I'm trying to figure out what this is supposed to mean. If you are saying this entire theme's focus isn't based on a game....that's pretty much implied with most big themes. If you are saying this theme isn't like RPG themes, that statement by itself doesn't even make sense. RPGs can literally be themed around ANYTHING. For instance, someone could take the Nexo Knights characters and setting, pick their preferred RPG rule system and play a RPG with it.
  7. Pathfinder isn't though (at least I don't think it is...).
  8. "Rules" could hint at that. I'd be curious if they were actually going with a more in depth system of rules...something that needed a book for rules. To date, pretty much all of Lego's game systems have been very elementary compared to the more complex gaming systems of today. It would be quite shocking if they included a system with some really depth to it.
  9. I'm well aware. Did you not understand the point of my post?
  10. I've seen this mentioned several times, and have a hard time putting a whole lot of stock in this stat. Surveys and purchasing data - that's the only way of really knowing. Surveys have to be MASSIVE and account for tons of variables (which frequently are NOT accounted for) to have any real integrity to them. I'm struggling to envision this being accomplished adequately from a toy company without having biased results or flaws in the survey methods. Purchasing data is a joke in this case too, as the large majority of Legos HAVE to be bought by adults anyway, either for their kids or themselves...so that doesn't really tell us. What am I missing? How can this stat possibly be that accurate? And to be clear, I'm not trying to argue the stat is or isn't close...I'm trying to argue that ANY % for a stat as odd as this would likely be a flawed stat.
  11. The reason is Marketing. There is a whole science behind the concept, meant to help deliver the biggest return on the investment. Reveal too early and the hype will lessen by the time of actual release. People may disagree with that (like us eager AFOL's) but it's a proven formula.
  12. I love seeing inventive and detailed micro builds :)
  13. Yep, I'm the one in the printing industry. Producing hundreds (if not thousands) of individual magazines that are all entirely unique is a ridiculously expensive thing to do, and I highly doubt Lego would feel the benefit would outweigh the cost.
  14. Really? You can't imagine an original way of doing a new "Castle" theme without removing the castle influences? Just look at the ENORMOUS collection of source material you could take influence from through pop culture and entertainment. Lots of books, movies, and video games that provide unique interpretations of medieval fantasy without feeling the need to remove medieval castle influence from the equation. Heck, pick any one of the many D&D/Pathfinder settings, and you've got a ton of ways to do Medieval fantasy that Lego hasn't touched on. In the grand scheme of things, Lego has barely tapped the possibilities within the genre of medieval fantasy.
  15. I can't put my finger on it exactly, but there's something I really like about this.
  16. @Deathleech - I'll have to respectfully disagree with a lot of your assessment. I'm eager to see pics, to see what we can actually expect.
  17. Yeah, there's nothing inherently wrong with color-coded heroes. The problem was that lego did a very poor job executing the idea with KK2. Each hero looked like a Power Ranger (which is not a good thing, in most people's opinion). There were very few details to differentiate one from the other, other than the offensive flood of color that saturated everything about the character. A good representation of color-coded heroes would be one in which the color is a subtle detail. The hero would need a good design by itself, with the color simply being a nice accent. You don't want the hero to be defined almost entirely by the color...otherwise its very shallow character design. Sure, these are designed for kids, but that doesn't mean sophisticated design should be thrown out the door. It should be done in a way that kids and adults alike can appreciate the stylistic choices. Simply put, the characters shouldn't look like carbon copies of each other, with color being the only significant difference at a glance. Even Heroica did a solid job of color-coding heroes while maintaining unique character identities.
  18. There was talk (from Nekchir) about the catalogs being watermarked in a unique fashion to identify the store that leaked them. Was this something new, only mentioned by Nekchir? The reason I ask this is that I actually work in the printing industry, and watermarking every magazine with a different watermark is a terribly inefficient way of printing. It means that every book would actually have to be printed as a separate book, and that's just not common at all, as it IS inefficient, as well as considerably more costly. Was there anyone else verifying this supposed catalog watermark rumor, or was this just another lie by Nekchir...used as a method to avoid providing any proof of his bogus claims?
  19. It was never really said that it would be "extremely" like FE from what I remember...but I could see how someone would think that with how much hype and momentum was built off of the initial comment. Color-coded Knights was Trollchir's remark...so that's nothing to put stock into until further evidence suggests so. Lava Monsters are the sort of enemy that fits very easily into Fantasy entertainment, so while they didn't exist in the original FE, they could have without feeling out of place. Steampunk/Futuristic could be a valid argument, but we don't have any pics to go on, so we have no idea to what extent either of those 2 things are included. All of the info from the past few days that suggested heavy futuristic influence was Trollchir's fake info...so we are back to square 1. And even if it did have some light influences from steampunk and/or futuristic, it could still feel similar to FE due to plenty of other factors. It could be "like" FE for the simple fact that this Nexo Knights theme sounds like humans vs fantasy monsters...which is something that was primarily FE until now. Sure, there have been a handful of non-human bad guys with ghosts and dragons, for instance...but Castle has been pretty much humans vs humans through the majority of history. This one detail alone gives a pretty big connection to FE, which I could see as a pretty good basis for people saying it's similar.
  20. So all the talk of trans-yellow is back out the window, and given the look of the logo, I'd say trans-light blue may be likely.
  21. Well, I'd say that's sufficient provocation for an official ban of his username and IP address. Basically all the drama that's resulted in the last 2-3 days (and there's been a lot) has been due to Nekchir lying for his own amusement.
  22. It would be kinda cool if a large figure was the primary bad boss. Has a large figure ever been the main bad guy in a Castle theme before? It would be neat if it was a big lava monster, or lava dragon.
  23. With as much drama as the past day or 2 saw with people requesting PM's....emailing may as well be the same thing. Person after person flooding this thread with "I want a PM"....only for that to be shut down and considered bad form. Now a bunch of people doing the same dang thing a day later....just with email. Come on people...we are better than that.
  24. They are pretty much the most universally detested mini figs in the AFOL Castle community.
  25. Nekchir, is this anything you can comment on? A description of the unnamed sets, perhaps?
