  1. Hello everyone! This is my entry for category A "The Missing Set". Because of the size and piece count I suppose this would be more of a USC type set. The set is modular and furnished inside and very playable. I built the side walls with hinges so they can be displayed at various angles and I attemted to show that in the pictures. I used the sand green bricks to attain that luminous, eerie, green glow like in the films. This was difficult to do because of my shortage of sand green and making sure it did not look like a pattern or moss. Anyway, I enjoyed building this. Thanks for viewing! "A long-tilted valley, a deep gulf of shadow, ran back far into the mountains. Upon the further side, some way within the valley's arms, high on a rocky seat...stood the walls and towers of Minas Morgul. All was dark about it, earth and sky, but it was lit with light. Not the imprisoned moonlight welling through the marble walls of Minas Ithil long ago, Tower of the Moon, fair and radiant in the hollow of the hills. Paler indeed than the moon ailing in some slow eclipse was the light of it now, wavering and blowing like a noisome exhalation of decay, a corpse-light, a light that illuminated nothing." Set name: Minas Morgul: The Witch King's Lair Parts: 1975 Minifigures: 10 + 3 beasts Price: $200 Thanks for viewing! More photos can be viewed at Brickshelf
  2. Thanks! I wanted to add more snow but those were all the white plates and slopes I have. LordDan, I have noticed that the pictures are a little fuzzy also. I am not sure how to fix that though. I have a decent camera so I am not sure what it is. I will have to research how to take better Lego pictures!
  3. Good job! I like the sheer size of it as well as the tan colored foliage.
  4. Good story, lol. I like the interior and modularity. Good job! Never played the game though.
  5. The statues and the railings are very nice. I also like the color. This is supposed to be long enough after the wars that everything is built back up, correct? Good job on this first entry in category B!
  6. Thanks for the compliments everyone! I enjoyed making this tree and was able to use a technique that I have not used before.
  7. The top (3rd) floor has a ladder leading up to it and dark brown tiles for the flooring. The door does open and the bottom floor also has tiles for flooring. I suppose I should take some close ups of those features. Thanks for pointing that out! And no, the inside is not really accessible. In fact while setting this up for pictures I dropped several weapons and a soldier down on the middle (2nd) floor and there they shall remain until I disassemble the MOC . Thank you everyone for the compliments!
  8. Hello again! Being new to MOCing I thought I should make the ubiquitous guard tower. I decided to put a little spin on it and show the tower from the prospective of all four seasons. On my first MOC, Sable Cathedral, I used a lot of 1x1 round plates in order to create detail before I had read any guides or knew of any pro MOCers. However, I want to give credit to Derfel Cadarn whose village building guide has influenced this MOC and helped shape my building style. Enjoy! Its spring and a young gallant knight is out looking for adventure. Its summer, the tress have grown darker, the grass is overgrown, the flowers are withering and the guards are bored out of their minds. Ah, autumn at last. The blasted heat is gone, the trees are turning beautiful colors..and...guess who drew the short straw. Winter. They wish the heat was back but at least the snow has started to melt. Yes...he drew the short straw again. Thanks for looking! More pictures are located here http://www.brickshel...ry.cgi?f=548426
  9. MEC Category C: Dwarf Soup Anyone?
  10. Hi! Here is my entry in the Middle Earth Contest Category C. The trolls have captured Bilbo and the Dwarfs and in my version has bound them in chains and is preparing a pot to boil them in! Little do the trolls, or in this case the one troll, know that Gandalf is amongst them wreaking havoc and confusion! This troll has no idea he is about to enter the stone age. This last picture is just to show that back of the MOC and that I am within the size restrictions.
  11. Very nice! My brother had this set when we were little so I know exactly how the original was and I have to say, I think I prefer this one! Love the rock work. The Photoshop is nice as well.
  12. Here is a picture of Gwaihir's neck. As far as I can tell it is the only difference between him and previous eagles.
  13. I believe the code is 8728. Good luck.
  14. Hey Mahtion, I live near Clearwater, FL (right next to Tampa) and the TRU on US 19 in Clearwater has the 2014 Hobbit sets. Just letting you know in case you can make it over there!
  15. In response to Deathleech Gwaihir is different but the difference is miniscule. He has some dark printing on the back of his neck whereas previous eagle's neck were a uniform color. I was lucky enough to pick up 79017 TBOTFA at my local TRU so I have seen it close up but have not taken it out of the packaging yet though. As far as I can tell that is the only difference.
  16. Thank you everyone for the encouraging words! I really did enjoy building this. The building time itself took me approximately 16 hours however the planning, time spent on bricklink, and time spent daydreaming were many times that number . I must say, I am glad I can stop daydreaming about this project.
  17. Hello everyone, This is my first post on Eurobricks as well as my first MOC ever. I have enjoyed reading through the historic theme pages for the last year. It was partially eurobricks that helped bring me back to Lego and showed me that is is okay for adults to like love Lego! So thank you to everyone involved on this site. Believe it or not it was Castle 2013 that initially brought me out of my dark ages (although now it is probably my least favorite era I own). I have since finished collecting the Kingdoms sets, Dragon Masters (which are the first Lego sets I received when I was seven), LOTR and the Hobbit. I have bought a lot of Legos this last year . I never used to think that I would build MOCs. I thought I would always leave sets built the way they were "supposed" to be. However, in the last several months I had a change of heart and decided that I would give MOCing a try. The beautiful creations on MOCpages.com helped encourage me to MOC as well. I am now another Bricklink addict. I also used several of my own sets on this MOC. Though I know the usual advice is to start MOCing small I wanted to make something big and magnificent so I would be excited to continue building afterward. This build took me about 16 hours and there are roughly 7,000 pieces in it. I used a 48x48 baseplate and two 6x24 plates on the left side. Alas, there is no interior. I had a difficult time making this structurally sound with the amount of detail in it and adding an interior on top of that was too daunting for me on my first MOC. I chose black because it is different from the norm as far as the castle theme goes and I think it is classy. I am not exactly sure why I chose a cathedral. I did want to do something different from the common castle. I got this idea of a beautiful cathedral in my head and I ran with it. So here it is. I appreciate any advice or criticism you folks can give me as I know there are many experts on this site. Thanks for looking! I apologize for some of the pictures being fuzzy. I am still working on the best way for me to take pictures of Legos which is why there are a couple different backgrounds and lighting, etc. Again, thanks for looking!
