  1. Powered rails would still have a place. Power Functions still needs a power source. Why not get it from the rails, saving the hassles that come with batteries?
  2. Not open them, just get a look under the flaps (use a strong flashlight), prying just enough to see if the glue is legit, showing no signs of tampering. If you still have your doubts, there's always the "shake shake" method, especially if you have more than 1 box of a set, and they were purchased from different sellers/stores, shake them all and listen if their sounds match up. Different contents will produce different sounds.
  3. Some people just don't know how to be rice. I mean nice.
  4. Bugs? haha You must mean Bucks. Auto-incorrect error? Or is this some slang term of which I'm not aware.
  5. Will washing the pieces with soapy water (when new; right out of the box) clip the yellowing at least in part?
  6. The outer edge cleats would also have to be eliminated, or the hinge will have to stick up at least as high as the cleats. Instead of gluing plates on it, why not stick down baseplates with double-stick tape? When not in use for trains, it can be used as a room divider.
  7. Do an image search for "fan with air filter". Most examples are nothing more than a box fan with an ordinary furnace filter taped to the intake side. There are also more elaborate designs by woodworkers, which they use as woodshop air cleaners. Whatever fan and design you use, make sure you use a good air filter. 3M's Filtrete Healthy Living filters are an example.
  8. Set up a small air cleaner. The simplest way to do so, is a small fan with a high quality air filter in front. Especially near the door, where most dust comes in anyway.
  9. Now you only need to somehow fill the inside so it will appear more solid.
  10. I would take that as a clue that there are probably other non-Lego pieces in you bulk lot.
  11. This joke was not even inside of an Easter egg. The bunny must be busy pulling capers on everyone else.
  12. I called them 'legos' during my kid years (not anymore), only because that's what my parents called them (and still do). Part numbers: Yes, a number w/o a picture or link is a real bummer. I'll leave the thread if I cannot understand what is being discussed otherwise. Same goes for set numbers. At least, give the name of the part or set in question. I have gotten the "Is that a set?" question a few times; it does not really bother me. Maybe because it seldom happens. The real shame is calling clone brands 'legos'. Do the same people call all computers 'IBMs', all cars 'fords' and all toilet paper 'charmin'? In some parts of the USA, all fizzy drinks are called 'coke', regardless of brand.
  13. There's nothing here. (You can Edit your post to fix this.)
  14. The discontinuation of Sand Red.
  15. You forgot Watermelon Splat!
  16. Have you thought of storing the capes separately?
  17. When I saw those clear RR tracks, I immediately thought Ghost Train! Ice train is just as good a contender. Anything that is clearly trainsparent.
  18. Solution: Labels!
  19. Just make sure those pieces get a good washing after the party. It would not hurt to wash your hands before doing the LEGO thing.
  20. I have done that. Not with instruction cardboard (When did that start?), but with the boxes. The Akro-Mills cabinets I use came with dividers, but in too-low quantity (1 per drawer), so I made copies. They slot right in.
  21. This so needs to happen! Suggest this to TLG; they need to get an eyeful of this!
  22. You also had your own sliding glass door to the outside? You had it made for a white! Shame it all ended. At least, you kept your entire LEGO collection, and have continued to add to it.
  23. For conductive rails, try layers: A layer of copper tape, followed by a layer of stainless steel tape. The Cu tape will provide a fast track for the electric current, while the SS tape will provide the needed durability.
  24. Empty LEGO boxes are just as good a candidate. Cut along the corner with the seam and lay flat. Larger boxes with their thicker, stiffer sides are good for making larger trays.
  25. Might be TLG's way of clearing out excess inventory of certain parts, so it's likely not all production overruns are ending up your local friendly neighborhood LEGO Store's PAB wall.
