When I sold LEGO bricks on Bricklink, I reused the baggies from LEGO sets, and sealed them with a bag sealer from Uline. The "strange bags" are most likely the same as those in the thread Zux linked.

Kickstarter: ME Models Tracks for both metal and ABS only track pieces
splatman replied to JopieK's topic in LEGO Train Tech
ME would not need to make motors. Just use Power Functions. All that would be needed, is a pickup to provide power to the motors. Since PF only needs a steady supply of 9 volts, the track would serve merely as a power source. No speed regulator needed. Instead, you would only need an adapter, to step down and convert the 120V AC (or whatever voltage your house gets from the power co.) to 9V DC. An adapter that you may have saved from a defunct appliance may work, but most likely will not handle the current demand (most put out less than 1 Amp), and will burn out, causing a serious train delay. -

I meant Fall, which will be starting on September 22. If there were also leaves in dark red, orange and yellow, building a fall scene would come naturally. I did not think of poinsettias. If I did, I would have been more specific, to avoid the Fall/Christmas confusion

And it's almost that time of year!

Put a note in your PAB cups. There it will be when you bring them for refills. Or put the note in your wallet before you go.

Put a bit of Dry Ice in every bin/bag, so as it sublimes, it will fill the container with CO2 and asphyxiate the bugs. Dry ice can be had at Fred Meyer (a grocery/hypermarket chain in the Pac NW); don't know about anyplace else that carries it.

When I see something being packed in well, I think of the Scientific Method Of Maximum LEGO Density that I employ when I do the Pick-A-Brick thing. Packing 'em like Pick-A-Brick! Sardines have nothing on this.

Is LEGO promoting non-purist thinking?
splatman replied to SevenStuds's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I had occasionally played with LEGO and non-LEGO stuff together since kidhood. Usually incorporating materials like wood, cardboard, paper, and, in 2 cases, part of a tree (screwed to a board so it can stand up). -
Time for a MOC built entirely of those and other transparent bricks.

Another splurge: At Westfield Southcenter: 6 cups. Did not get the exclusive set (on the right), though this purchase qualified for it, and I did not think of it until later (more on that later). The white 1x6x5 panels have been on my wishlist, but they make poor use of space in the PAB cups, so I came up with this trick: Stack 5 2x4 bricks + 1 2x4 plate + tiles on top. This stack will fit snugly inside the panel. Then 1 2x4 brick and 1 1x2 brick (or you can use 1 each 2x2 & 2x3 bricks) to fill in the remaining space. 2 grill tiles meshed together in the corner. If you wish, stick 1x1 round tiles inside the 2x4 & 1x2 bricks. Place in a cup and fill remaining space with small pieces. All pieces sorted. Not pictured: 1320 Dark Pink 1x4 bricks. At Bellevue Square: 5 cups + one exclusive set. When I drove to Bel-Square, I realized I did not get the set with my Southcenter purchase,. so I brought my receipt when I went to the Bel-Square store, and showed it to the clerk, and after verifying I did not get it (it was not on the receipt), he gave me one, in addition to the one I got with my Bel-Square purchase. Sand green! (there was not much available, otherwise I would have bought more) Not pictured: 602 Sand Green 1x1 bricks, 2 more than I wanted. What would I do without a scale with a counting function? I was hoping to get the more Magenta 1x4 bricks in quantity, but the Southcenter store had none, and the B-Square store had only a few in their mixed-pieces bin, which also yielded white 2x2 plates, white 2x2 slopes, trans-red 1x1 tiles, and 1 blue 2x2 corner brick, among others.

I have always wondered, why stud notches (aka missing notches of plastic) are always deeper than studs are tall? To see what I mean, take any piece that has stud notches, a common example is the 2x2 round brick, and click it onto another brick, and you will see, there are gaps at the tops of the notches. Was it because LEGO once made bricks with taller studs, and are always making the notches as deep as they are to maintain backwards compatibility? Gary "LEGO Historian" Istok, where are you?

Good thing I buy LEGO entirely on my own terms. No one in my family so far knows about the splurges I reported here, nor about the set I bought today. I doubt they will see this site. They have their own interests.

Fight fire with fire? Or is that more like ?And at BrickDonald's, that must have more nutritional value than the Real McCoy.

Another way to look at it: The first time you use a set, it costs ~10 ยข/piece. The second time, and every time thereafter, it is Free.

On January 2: 2 cups. Did not get a pic of the cups before I sorted their contents. The cup on the left was bought later. The cup at the top is empty. One of the yellow 2x2 slopes was an orangey yellow. Not sure if it was bright light orange, or just a production oddity. It's right in the center of the 2nd tray on the top row in the pic on the right. It's the same color as the 1x1 plates w/ tooth, in the upper right tray in the left pic. May 10 and June 2 (not sure which cups were bought when): I emptied 4 cups into 4 boxes (only 1 pictured), so I could reuse those cups during my June 23 trip. Their contents (10 cups' total): P6250034 by gaklander, on Flickr Not pictured: 238 black 2x6 bricks and 48 bright green 6x12 plates. Forgot to not put them away before taking pix. Also purchased 2 tan 32x32 baseplates on my June 2 trip. June 23: 9 large cups, 1 small cup, and 1 BAM pack (my first). Looks like more than 9, but if you look at the cup on the far right of the left pic, you'll see it's the same cup 2nd from the left in the right pic. That's a stack of 170+ black 4x8 plates in the pic on the right. All of the magenta 1x4 bricks in one box: (Not including the ones purchased on previous trips, which I added after the picture.) P6250039 by gaklander, on Flickr. The Jan. 2 trip was on the way home from picking up a used 12" tablesaw (Craigslist find). You can check it out on my Flicker album. Woodwork is my other hobby. The May 10 and June 6 trips were on the way home from picking up orders at OnlineMetals.com. It's cheaper to drive to OLM (in North Seattle) and pick up my orders than to have the orders shipped to my place, near Gig Harbor, Wa. Since I was out that way, stopping by Southcenter Mall was no big deal. I had LEGO store visits on my wish list anyway. I also wanted the Wreck-it Ralph soundtrack album, and so during my June 6 trip, I went to the F.Y.E. store at the mall and ordered it (they did not have it in stock). I made a special trip on June 23 to pick it up, and took the opportunity to do the LEGO Store thing then (and browse Rockler, a woodworking supply, across the street from the mall).

The frosted finish is just texture (think multitude of tiny hills and valleys). Scratching it just flattens the "hills". Some dish detergents have abrasives, which can abrade away the "hills". The cups are made of Polypropylene (recycle code 5).

Misprints and Other LEGO Production Oddities

Put a light behind it, and it be perfect for any creature with glowing eyes. Especially if you have at least 2. -
Cheat alert: Reinforce it with a layer of clear packing tape on both sides.

Probably more to do with safety than anything else. Case in point: 4865 Panel 1x2x1 was replaced with 4865b Panel 1x2x1 with rounded corners. The corners of the original 4865 had the potential to break skin, though I never had that issue. Or it was just due to toy safety regs.

Kjeld names Thomas as his successor at TLG

I read the title at least twice, thinking I was reading it wrong.
