  1. Ah, I'd forgotten Mafia Mafia (it was only my second game and seems like a lifetime ago...) What a crazy game! And yes, parts of this one felt like that for sure (in a good way).
  2. Thanks for the review - looks like a great set I might have to pick up... thanks for making me spend money :)
  3. Exactly! I know we had some definite discussions on the scumboard about it and listed those who had claimed as vanilla and then ignored them as night targets.
  4. Interesting you bring that up... for kicks, I tried playing a game over on mafiascum, one of their newbie games (9 players, 6 of whom are newish). Man what a different environment! Massive vote throwing around (there's no role-playing to fill the start of the game, so they just start throwing votes at random and see how people react). And there's so much more harsh accusations of scumminess, but also so much defending people that you think are townie. I got lynched day 1
  5. I'd usually expect a BP to be a 1 shot defense, so if I was lassie at the end I serious would have thought about scum killing you, assuming it'd work. On the other hand, if someone survived TWO night kills, I'd assume they were permanently BP. So 3 was just weird. I don't remember the exact math, but at the time, whatever number of vanilla you said had been claimed was the number of stumps plus the number of people who had claimed in thread. So to all of us, it appeared that you'd just said that all the stumps were vanilla (ie no PRs among them) and those of us who had posted claims via codes were all vanilla too.
  6. Yes, AWESOME fun game. Thanks Walter! Great job and thanks for sharing that big confession Hinck. Fun reading. I do think that 3 shot BP SK seems a bit overpowered though... I can see 1 shot, but 3? Of course, I was a whopping FOUR shot janitor.... and we got a bonus shot since the failure night 2 didn't count as one of the 4 (I assumed it did until we found out later we still had another use left)
  7. Wow, WHAT A GAME! First, gotta brag a little that I predicted a SK hinck in the dead PM before the conclusion posted. I had 90% chance that hinck won as the only living tree and the only real question was if he was town or SK. For the record (I already said this in the dead PM, but for everyone here...), I thought the codes were a FANTASTIC idea and that's why I pushed them so hard. I wanted desperately to make them confusing and screwed up so that they wouldn't work. If I were town... I would have had a good template set up that was similar to what hinck finally did and shared it with everyone to make it easy to do. Random code word for every single player name, possible role, and other words like "night action" "scum" etc. Then the living and stumps could have made whole sentences and conversations and the town SHOULD HAVE won quickly with that. I would have pushed that codes to everyone be a requirement and anyone not doing codes or making a claim to the stumps the day after codes being distributed would be policy lynched. Then the stumps could have colated the claims and started figuring things out and directing night actions. Through the whole game I was shocked at how often people KNEW something HAD to be true and were flat out wrong. Huge lesson to me not to tunnel on suspects or to be overly confident on anything. Congrats to Simon, and thanks to a scum team that played well. Also for the record, it was mostly luck that we killed the two investigators. It was helped by the outing of the vanilla, but still...
  8. Oh sweet, totally have to pick one of these up for my desk at work. Maybe a second for home too :)
  9. for those still paying attention - note that there's just minutes left in the day and Adelaide has NOT VOTED!!!!! (on the other hand, I appreciate her note of support towards me at the end of the post...)
  10. But no-lynch is not as bad as lynching an oak! It's better to throw your vote away than lynch me! Go with your gut!
  11. The watching list has shrunk, but when I said it, it was me, you, Alder, Adelaide, Alastair, forget who else. Like 7-8 people though, and the rest of day 6 has been 2-3 at best when I've seen it.
  12. Wow, a record number of people here to see my death? I still stand firm - you are wrong. You're lynching a townie and I'm afraid it may be the end. You're not considering the real worst case there - 4 town, 3 maples, 1 SK. I get lynched, that's an oak gone, and it's 3-3-1. Scum kill one more of us, it's 2-3-1. The vig kills a scum, it's 2-2-1 and you're counting on who the SK kills to decide the game. I do not like those odds. And Simon, yes, right now I'd gladly hammer William because I'm not at all convinced his roleclaim is true. Care to explain? You did exactly zero analysis there!
  13. What's not townie about trying to survive the day? I know 100% for sure that I'm an oak. I do NOT know that 100% for sure about anyone else - not even Simon. So straight, simple logic dictates that ANYONE else getting lynched is better than me getting lynched. The best single thing I can do for town right now is survive.
  14. And yet you vote for me? Hey, I'll switch my vote to William in a second if it'll keep me alive and the oaks alive to fight for sunshine. Maybe because a bunch of those who made it this far are sheep who've kept their heads down? Do the experiment - switch your vote from me to WIlliam and see who follows. I will
  15. 1. At this point, with 8 trees left, I'm not looking ahead to tomorrow. I don't assume it'll come. I'm assuming that either side could end this thing today. Well, less likely that the maples could, since with 3 or 4 (depending on if there's an SK among the stumpless) gone, there can't be many of them left. Still, I'm focusing on today and making sure we get a stumpless tree today. 2. Yes, I've voiced some suspicions! I hammered on Hazel once my opinion on her changed. I built a case on Adelaide today. I've talked about some lesser suspicions with you in private. That's more than some have done. 3. No, I did more analysis of Aldelaide's votes than just how many red votes. Go read it again :) I looked at WHICH votes were red/green and whether they mattered and why a certain day made sense for a scum to vote a certain way.
  16. Thanks sammy! Here's a couple things sticking out from this: 1. William hasn't managed to vote for a single red name yet! ok, so that's one thing. I'll keep looking as I have time... Dang, you wanna give me a lot of power there! I only WISH I had night actions like that! That would be a brutally potent scum role. (and no, this is not saying I'm scum. Seriously. But I can hear the posts coming already accusing me of slipping up there)
  17. Wow, so because coincidentally the blocker chose to block me on a night that was strange (and I'll point out, EVERY NIGHT of this game has been strange) I have to be lynched? I'll admit, it IS suspicious, and if it wasn't so late in the game I'd understand it more. But I'm telling you flat out, the best explanation I have for night 2 is that no scum or 3rd parties were killed (unlike other nights, therefore no non-stumps), the block was wasted on me because I can do nothing at night, and out of the vig, SK, and scum, two of them targeted the same person. If I'm doing my math right (this is similar to the famous birthday problem, so I calculated it like that) there's about a 14% chance of that, with 22 people left and ignoring that the scum have extra knowledge of who not to attack. In other words, if all 3 of them just rolled dice to pick a target, with 3 killers and 21 potential victims for each, there's about a 1 in 7 chance of two of them picking the same target. HOWEVER, this is in the context of the game, so it's actually much more likely than that, since early in the game the scum would be looking for a not too big (ie not bruce or hinck, since they are likely being protected/watched/etc) target, the vig is looking for someone not too townie (ie a quieter person) and the SK is looking for a similar unguarded target as well.
  18. Voting for alastair after he was hammered (by a scum) was relevant because it was essentially at the same time. Miscommunication in the scumboard as to who would do it? Or like I said, was it that you all realized alastair was doomed so you both threw down what was essentially a double hammer so that you can use it as defense later? Like I said, I am assuming the scum were surprised by the stump thing too, so you assumed you'd be able to point later in the game that "I hammered a scum on day 1, so how could I possibly be a scum?" And since you both posted votes at the same time, you and Barry would BOTH get the same defense at the price of one scum who was getting lynched anyway. The vote on Nash? You placed it when the Catarina bandwagon was well under way and it was pretty clear she'd get lynched that day - but there was still lots of room for you on that wagon. But again, by placing the other vote, you left yourself a defense later (see, I didn't vote for the oaky catarina!) but enough time to switch votes if you needed to. And yes, you were happy with your vote on Peter because it was helping split the vote and you were hoping for a non-lynch!
  19. Since this game's been amazingly short on vote analysis (due to the lack of stumps), I decided to do some. And guess what I found... Vote: Adelaide Apple (TinyPiesRUs) Because... Day 1 - Barry Cherry and Adelaide both essentially hammered Alastair, voting within 2 minutes of each other. Wait, why would a pair of scums hammer another scum? Because, everyone knew someone would switch over to Alastair to get the day 1 lynch, and by throwing a fellow scum under the bus, they'd have a good defense later. I don't think the scum knew the stump and no stump thing was coming any more than we did, so they fully thought they'd have good defense in later days. Day 2 and 3, a wasted vote on Nash and then joined the bandwagon on Larry. Both days were well sealed lynches, so it didn't matter. Day 4, the Peter vs Hazel debacle. He voted Peter fairly early and then stayed there. Voting against a fellow scum again (good defense for later), but also not swapping his vote over to help lynch. Instead, by not moving, he was aiming for a no-lynch since the votes were split between two scum. Day 5, right in the middle of the Berty bandwagon. Basically, when his vote was irrelevant, it was on an oak. When it was more important, it was on scum. No oak could be 100% accurate like that - he must have known alignments! Ok, there's some quick vote analysis. Took me longer to type than to do. So now how about some metagaming? Day 1, he made a whopping 4 posts. In a day that had over 400!!! Talk about staying under the radar! Day 2, stepped it up to 17 out of 470 posts. Day 3, 7 out of 275 Day 4, 10 posts out of 330 made Day 5, 5 of 128. And so far today, 3 of 76. Either lazy or hiding, to be consistently posting so little when there has been SO MUCH to talk about. And now this is where it gets meta. I've been in a very political forest with him before. In that case, he was definitely scum and was similarly very quiet.
  20. And that's why most of the people ignored what Berty said, since it was info we're not supposed to have.
  21. No problem - just next time, lash out on someone else before you get an oak lynched for no reason. And in return, I'll slow down and try to make my posts make sense too.
  22. Sorry, been interrupted by reality... Where did I say that agnes was scum-killed? YOU said she was vig killed. Or are you getting names mixed up somewhere? And as for the other half, I have no idea between Agnes and Vicky which was killed by scum and which by SK. I guess I was assuming that last night Peter's death was because he was the scum killer, meaning IF I was a killer (I'm not!) I'd have had to be the SK to have killed night 2. But do we have any proof that peter is scum and not SK, other than the missing stump? (sorry, meant I'd have to have been the SK to have failed to kill night 2) (crap, too much going on and now I am getting names mixed up. We know Agnes was vig killed night 2. I don't know who killed Vicky) And don't forget, when thinking I'm a killer (again, I'm not...) that there's another reason for a missing night 2 kill other than me being blocked. The SK and scum could have BOTH targeted Vicky.
  23. Well, to be clear, no one else was around (at least not posting) - it was you, me, and Waldorf as the only posts for quite a stretch there. And yep, I have ignored posts with codes for DAYS - when they were just codes. But when Waldorf says something in code, you do a row of headbanging, and he replies with "But maybe there's another one? We did have two cops, after all. " yep my curiosity gets going. I'd assume it'd get anyone else going too if they'd been around. So you blocked me, and I note that you listed the vig failed night 1 so there was an SK kill, but the vig succeeded night 2 so you're thinking I'm the SK? Sorry, nope. Anyone with two brain cells rubbing together knows I claimed vanilla via the codes. True then and true now. Nothing I can do to prove that except return as a stump after my death - but we can't afford a mislynch at this stage of the game. If it was an earlier day I'd seriously consider sacrificing myself to prove it and return as a stump to help, but not now. We can't afford to waste another Oak life now. Or are you suggesting I'm a godfather? That would suggest you investigated me, and nothing was ever said to that effect, and you DID give most of the investigators' results before they died, since they mostly cleared you and Bruce and each other... so I don't see that as likely. But yes, I always assume there's a godfather, and with that much investigating going on (and the odds of them getting connected SO SOON is so remote, so if I were hosting I wouldn't expect their time to be spent proving they are both legit) I wouldn't be surprised if there was a framer or something as well.
