  1. ^Thats really good point out. True that neither pics nor the video display it looking that big. Just I'm quite sure that the 'same witdth as Sandcrawler' was was supposed to be rather same width as SC lenght :) SC is (only) 6 in wide.
  2. Thats all true, I was also very pessimistic about chances of this certain idea for succes (eventhough Yo Sub reduced the set for about 1/3 of the original size which you probably missed, still it was just big). And as I said, there is fairly high amount of reasons for TLG not to accept big projects, no matter what subject they represent. The less chances were for this hellicarrier just because of what you mentioned - I agree on all of that. Still, I'm missing at least some message from TLG towards all the creators where all of this would be pointed out. (To be fair I have to say that they have a line in some description that ideas related to certain product line may not be accepted being in development already) Anyway, not everyone is able to consider stuff beyond what is officially stated and all of the encouraging official comments on big projects or brojects that extends existing product line are missleading. By the way, let me quote the first official comment on Hellicarrier: Dear ysomt, We’re not sure what to be more blown away by; the sheer size of this model, or that you’ve amassed over 5,000 votes in hardly a month’s time. Nicely done! Keep in mind however that this project’s size far exceeds any set that The LEGO Group has ever produced. It would be helpful to us if you included an additional, smaller version of your model for consideration as a LEGO set. Avengers, assemble (to 10,000 supporters) Especially the last paragraph is... of course, there are no promisses or commitments, but it's encouraging and Yo responded on this by putting great ammount of work in designing much smaller version. Thats why I feel this might be a bit of injustice.
  3. Hey, regarding the first line I quoted - there was nobody saying he expected full minifig scale. The only what people said was that they would rather see playset with minifigure interior - that's relevant wish, eventhough I personally disagree and like the way it is better. But for sure nobody expected 10ft long model so it't no point getting curious abou that :/ About LEGO Ideas, there is no official statement saying that size of the set representing the Idea has to be equal to the final set, if made. In contrary, most of the sets actually got reduced on size, maybe except the birds. True, the reduction has never been that massive, yet LEGO states no limits or even recommendations for how big the Ideas sets should be. Of course there are many reasons why wouldnt they like to have big sets based on ideas. But until they go ahead and clarify this, I'll always point out these issues that feels slightly unfair to me. What are they doing now is exploiting someones work and using it as free market research. They keep writing encouraging 'official comments' with not even an essence of some doubts or worries about the size. All they have to do later is reject the project and create the set on their own as they see there is a demand. That is what I dislike and that's why I'm bringing up the discussion.
  4. Well, I was expecting more UCS look than actual playset. This microscale is actually very good idea and I like the microfigures, yet the model suffers from some inlesses of standard playsets... I have this 'they could have done better' feeling although I'm not really sure what's wrong :) Still it's good model though. And for everyone who wonder about why no PF included - it's nearly 3k bricks and huge model. At least in USD I think the price is relevant. Just a small (conspiracy :D) thought for those who are involved in LEGO Ideas - Remember Sandcrawler? Great UCS idea achieved support, got not approved and lego produced their new Sancrawler soon after. Now with helicarrier, there's exactly the same scenario... well just it hasn't been rejected yet but I think it's quite certain it will happen :)
  5. Congratz to all the winners! My personal fav (ice fountain) didn't make it but it was a tough in such a high level competition :) Therefore also congratz and cheers to everyone who entered, the greatness of all the entries has blown me away this year. Good job everyone :)
  6. I don't struggle to say that this is the BEST UT-AT I have ever seen! Well done.
  7. This is true mastery of lighting effects! Thanks for letting me enjoy :D
  8. Ehh... maybe I should... build some LEGO!

  9. Absolutely brilliant. I was looking at these pictures for quite a long time just to see all the details. Wow!
  10. Hello, Thank you for your support and kind words! About the LDD files, there's actually not much about to discuss with the Invisible Hand. That one is quite simple model, however, there was a lot of designing and proportional fixing beyond. Nevertheless, there are no miracles in it - few quite well known snot methods and some fancy part usage. Thus, I'm sure I'll eventually share the file, yet I'd like to finish the last two issues that makes the model not perfect. There is one discontinued hinge part and also the bottom triangular inverted tower is very fragile. I'm having a hard time trying to fix the second issue but I hope I can find some propper solution. However, it's quite different with Venator. It seems like small model, equal to the Invisible Hand, but the amount of work it has taken is completely out of the range. Perhaps I'm making it to magnificent... but I really feel I achieved something with this model and I'm not ashamed to say that I'd really like to get a litlle reward. If LEGO Ideas fail, as the succes seems quite unlikely there, I am about to try other ways (cuusoo brick, MOC shop) of making this model available for purchasing. Eventually I'm considering making some high quality instructions available for some small charge. Prhaps that is not the nicest approach, maybe I'll reconsider. But that's it for now. I admire everyone who share the instructions for high quality mocs for free (i.e Primus). Let's see what i end up with :) Kristof
  11. Hello, I still haven't managed to create instructions. So far I'm collecting all the bricks to build this in real and seek for possible pitfalls and regarding improvement through the construction. From the LDD I'm not quite sure wtether all the reinforcements that I've put into are useful and necessary :) Anyway, I plan to release instructions for The Invisible Hand for free as soon as my models gets over 1k supports on Ideas. For Venator, I'm considering creating more professional instructions for further sale. Kristof
  12. Perhaps the coolest mictofighter I have ever seen :D
  13. Thank you very much! Thanks, I hope you get chance to buy eventually :)
  14. Man, this is so much fun :D I love the slow moments and long shots on minifig faces - you managed to make them act brilliantly without mimic movements :D Amazing. Enjoyed a lot!
  15. I'm sick of not having made it to Lipno in 2014. I had plenty of chances to go there but missed all of them. This is absolutely outstanding creation, well like most of yours :) Is this getting disassembled already or will there be any chance to see it in real again?
  16. Haha, great! I love the idea and the design is just perfect :)
  17. Being such a small creation, It made surprisingly big visual impact on me. Looks very real.
  18. Wow, do you polish your bricks to get that cool floor reflection? :D Amazing build though. I love the hangar and everything. You guys should consider making either a comicbook or even a movie!
  19. I like the bottom edge. It really looks like it could hover quite nicely :) I agree with markus that the size is a bit over. Actually it's almost twice as big but I can't really imaginge making it much smaller with all the features. Good job!
  20. Congratz everyone who entered for really great entry - there is none I'd dislike. I could easily imagine some of them being lego sets. The choice how to cast votes seemd to be really hard. Fortunately, there are 3 creations that are not only perfectly executed but also unique ideas. I love sweetsha's fountain! Along with these penguins, this is my favorite for 1st place. Reindeer Barn by 6kyubi6 is also spectacular. I really like how it's red and also the details around are making the scene. At first I was giving 2 votes to this but then I saw the Uni-kitty house by cara. Although I'm not sure if I'd include this into my winter willage, I really like the idea and overal execution. And that crooked window is really TOP :D. So there we go. Thank you again for all wonderful entries! 5. sweetsha - 3 10. 6kyubi6 - 1 26. cara - 1
  21. Very original shape, to me it looks like it's sticked together from couple of old wrecks and painted :D I really like the floating rounded panels in the middle section showing some greebling underneath. Also the flat back of the ship looks great! Well done.
  22. Congratz to all winners, Briliant creations - worthy extensions to LEGO Middle Earth universe :)
  23. Oh man, I wish I could have seen it in real. This is one of the most adorable SW ships ever made.
  24. Respect! Very interesting and original choice of doing the edge of the hull plates. It looks really good. Oh and these death star half spheres for the thrusters - briliant idea! As someone mentioned above, it's smooth. Maybe a little bit to smooth for me. I could imagine some plastic patterns to the hull not to be so plain, but... you know, easy to be the clever one :D It's fantastic model. I really admire your work! Kristof
