  1. Hi, I like complex models where the process of building it doesn't reveal too much on how it is going to work. For at least one such example was the offloader 8297, until I had it fully assembled I couldn't quite figure out how it was using a motor to go "up" and "down" (i.e. extend and retract). Once it worked, it was interesting to look into and think it over. A the 8297 is my most complex lego set as of yet, I believe that the 8043 and 8258 which I plan on buying would surpass it, but I am not sure 8258 has complex inner workings like the 8297. In any case, those are my two cents :) Thanks, Noam
  2. They have taking it out as it has "incorrect" parts listed and construction instructions. It will be back when they start shipping it again.
  3. If you look closely you can see that chain link of the backwheel jumping out and back from its place, causing an annoying "bump", it basically means its not tight enough. I believe others have complained to LEGO about this, and its due to the new chain link that was recently (this year?) introduced into circulation. Thanks, Noam
  4. That is really cute and functional. How much weight can it carry? I mean is it able to lift any "serious" weight?
  5. I think the best way to know whether this is a marking we can use is to see how the 22nd of October version of this set will look like.
  6. Nice movie Doesn't really show you how much effort was needed to: 1) Build the real model :) 2) To make this animation and sequences.. Nicely done
  7. Wow that is huge I am not sure I understand the driving mechanism? Is it one remote controlling several motors in parallel?
  8. I have a catalog one that came with the Control Center, but it is in Italian, still relevant?
  9. Hi, I agree that the topic is small LA :) Just a few legal notes: 1) Linking to illegal content doesn't protect you from prosecution - see Torrent files, cracks for programs, etc 2) I don't think EB wants to go to court and prove that the images weren't on their site - lets help them by not giving LEGO any reason to get LEGAL 3) Final note on the matter :) if something is stamped CONFIDENTIAL you need to assume it is as such, you can't ignore it. At the very least it is copyrighted material that was SCANNED and is COPIED without permission, otherwise why the low-res pictures and the CONFIDENTIAL stamps? :) But I agree, I enjoy the pictures as much as everyone else, but I want EB to not get into trouble.
  10. I believe its scheduled for reintroduction on the 22nd of October (they say on LEGO site 30days, before it said 22nd of October - if I remember correctly), this for the USA. Europe (checked Italy), they are talking about the 2nd of November. Thanks, Noam
  11. Hi, Even if this is an unofficial lego message board, posting CONFIDENTIAL and COPYRIGHTED material here would be illegal and could cause LEGO to send a Cease-and-desist order to the ISP or the owner of the forum, causing its complete shutdown. We don't want that. So respect the copyright and confidentiality rules Thanks, Noam
  12. A simple method of providing "color blind" people the ability to build would be to tag the elements in some way, for example write their code? or just write under it drkgry or black, etc...
  13. Hi, After some time of having the off-roader built, and my son (3 years old) playing with it, I decided to give the B-Model a try. Here are my thoughts: 1) It is a much simpler build - takes a lot less steps as well as requires a lot less complex parts 2) Much simpler functionality - brings up the hood of the car, and takes it down + lights 3) More robust than the off-loader - less parts come off when played by my son I think it is a better version than the off-loader - less functionality here makes the model nicer to handle at the hands of my son - less likely to push a button while driving it with his hands Small modification on the steering wheel, change the order of the nob and the cog so that the nob is on top of the cog and not the other way around (see step 19 in the first PDF file) Side note, the colors in the PDF makes it very hard to understand when it is gray, dark gray and black... I wish they made it more clear somehow. Thanks, Noam
  14. Hi, Very nicely done Especially since it needs very few parts to build, while giving quite an impressive feel and movement Even from the pictures it is quite easy to understand how it works Need to get 2 more motors to get mine rolling :)
  15. Hi, Brinklink has them at 3.75$ + 2.5$ a pop :) A bit lower than 8.5 euro :)
  16. I believe the slowness is caused by gearing down, this was done probably because: 1) It wouldn't move otherwise / too heavy 2) It wouldn't otherwise scale those obstacles it could be it was a mistake, or they didn't know it mattered :)
  17. Not a lot of information, but a few more details on the "issue" at hand: http://thenxtstep.blogspot.com/2010/09/nxtasyorg.html
  18. Very nicely done models Lots of pictures can be found at their brickshelf: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=446265
  19. Anyone else notice (maybe only those that can read and understand Italian) that they are talking about a 4 geared car, sounds like it is controlled in some way, otherwise why you need 4 gears? Thanks, Noam
  20. My son really loves this model, as opposed to the A-model, this model offers a crane, a "real" one, which can lift stuff, the A-model is more of a car, and is very difficult to lift things with as it constantly moves. I replaced the wheels of this model with flat platforms, so that it won't move around while playing.
  21. Hi, I actually believe that for young people who are so into the Internet these days an "interactive" instructions would be a better option. An instruction set where the model is a "3D" one moving on the screen, where the viewer can see the parts "stick" in would be the better option. It would of course beat the purpose of getting the kid away from the computer, but it will make the instructions "easier", "less footprint" and more importantly "give the youngsters" skills they need - 3D viewing/analysis skills - paper viewing isn't the way of the future :D Finally, I have the same issue others appear to have, discovering when a piece should be black should drkgray, its worse in PDF form than in printed form.
  22. A real work of art. I would make the NXT at least spit out the nosies Wall-E does if possible That will be a hit at the LEGO show If it can close its head, move it, etc it would be a great bonus Finally if it can interact with something, maybe that small figurine, like in the movie where it plays with the grasshopper - that would be amazing Thanks, Noam
  23. Hi, Does anyone have plans to go there? or has been in past events (http://www.legoworld.nl/)? I am mainly interested to know if it is: 1) Worth going if you don't know Dutch :) 2) Worth going if you are mainly into Technic 3) What is there to do there Thanks, Noam
