  1. This is the thing, even if I don't like them enough to buy them, I do at least generally like the ideas behind a lot of the in house themes. As long as we still get mini figures that look the part for castle type builds then the parts in the sets can be repurposed as needed.
  2. Something in the way of a Castle theme meets How To Train Your Dragon maybe? I could see magical beasts being used instead of the crazy Ninjago vehicles. Also ties into the Chima connection, which had both Legends Beasts and a fair few vehicles that were basically meant to be animals - Eris Eagle Interceptor was actually so nicely proportioned for an eagle that it won me over on the whole theme! Only weakness in that is that Steampunk comparison does imply some kind of mechanical vehicles. Guess it's a bit of a wait and see game now.
  3. One thing i just noticed on that Batmobile, if that part that's directly behind the stud shooters a new part, i can see it looks to be stickered, but the angle of it is making me question if it's anew shaped tile.
  4. I'm 100% with you on this, I know some people were worried about the Scooby Doo line being minidolls and I couldn't understand why they were thinking it would be. To my mind a Disney CMF line will be minifiigures with some new parts for heads etc like The Simpsons line. The only way this will be a minidoll line will be if it's a Disney Princesses CMD line, which I wouldn't be completely against but I really don't imagine would happen because the Princesses line is notoriously strict on the accepted guidlines that merchandisers have to adhere to.
  5. Ok so it seems like theres a bit of back and forth here based on the difference between cartoon design and mini figure design - I've seen none of the cartoons so without context I read BluePulse's comment as being about the LEGO set design rather than the cartoon design. Daredevil does get a red suit, albeit a dark red suit in the netflix series so I think the whole point is pretty moot anyway.
  6. The Ant-man set is from the Ant-Man movie...the Avengers Assemble sets are based on cartoons - e.g Falcon in Hulk Lab Smash looks nothing like the MCU version because it's the cartoon/comic version.
  7. I'd love an additional X-men set, mainly for mini figures but it's hard to think what else LEGO could put out for one short of a largish set like the Xavier school...while theres the whole hoo-haa going on between Marvel and Fox over character rights I wouldn't expect anything, that way anything we do get becomes an absolute bonus!
  8. Just to be clear, I'm not doubting anyone or anything, I just always stay naturally skeptical until anything official is announced, it's so easy to get caught up in speculation that what's actually been announced and what people have suggested often get mixed up. Ultimately I didn't enjoy Man of Steel - I liked that when the sets got reduced it gave me a few more DC characters we might not have otherwise got - so ultimately I'm keeping my expectations low. If we get a Carrie Kelley Robin minifigure as a result of the film I'll ultimately not care just how bad the film is, because without a big hollywood movie featuring Carrie Kelley I couldn't see LEGO ever making her except as a SDCC exclusive type figure. If we do get multiple sets two or three seems logical, enough to cover the bases of most of the crucial minifigures but not so much to take away the production time slots that LEGO might prefer to use for more child friendly franchises. I hope that we still get some comic book DC styled sets next year too, I won't mind having a few darker coloured alternate costumes for some of the DC Superheroes, but I like to have some colourful characters too!
  9. Has there been anything to suggest or confirm multiple sets from an official source - Dark Knight rises got one set, seems to me that there's noting to say this won't be a single set to tie in with the film, given the ott dark nature they seem to be going for, LEGO might not want to invest in a whole wave for it.
  10. Apparently there was an embargo on showing anything until the 9th which was pointed out to them so they took it down before LEGO got annoyed with them.
  11. I think people have forgotten that there are so many different versions of each comic book character that one take one them (or even many) not being suitable for children doesn't mean it won't happen. I would imagine that most parents are unaware of the netfilx Daredevil series, even if their kids like comic book versions of the character.
  12. I'd love this to be true, but as ever I believe nothing until there's official confirmation. There are so many that I'd love, even just going from the "Animated Classics" labelled films there's enough characters for a few waves of these. I Imagine it would be a mix of the animated films and standard mascot characters. Even without interest in the characters it couod be worth checking some of these out for new accessories that could be introduced as a result.
  13. There is an image of the Gargoyle headpiece (not a full moulded head) doing the rounds, so worst case scenario is to use it with other grey mini figure parts. I wouldn't be surprised if a future modular (particularly a future corner one) has a gargoyle on the roof using the headpiece and oa plain grey head and torso with brick built legs.
  14. Massively unlikely for SDCC, normally the rumour mill is far more substantial before we get any sort of official word. I know that not everyone likes the bright colours of KKII but I really liked it for mini figures for a very fantasy themed LEGO world - one of things I don't like about the GoT TV show is the draining of some of the colours described in the books. In all honesty though the main things I would like to see are: Dragons - with How to Train Your Dragon still at least fairly popular and the new Smaug body part available (I know they can't use the head but the body is generic enough that it could be reused) available I'd love to see at least a couple but would be happy with just one. Factions - more than just two factions would be great - if they handle it like Ninjago it could be humans vs orcs to begin with then move on to different, thats fine as long as they do. Look at how Chima worked for masses of factions, if you consider each tribe a faction then there's a method for them to intro several factions at once. Creatures - Looking at the amount of magical creatures appearing in the Elves line I'd love to see more mini figure scale mythical creatures - if LEGO do a set with centaurs I will absolutely buy it day one (only ever done that with one set before!) Don't go vehicle overkill - siege engines, battle towers and carriages are fine, but if we start getting pseudo steam punk helicopters and jets then I'm out
  15. To me, even with human armies, they would have to be amazingly well funded to all have the exact same armour etc, I do get people (and Hollywood) preferring that though, just for the aesthetics, but to me all armies would be made of individuals as closely matched as possible, but rarely identical. I really hope we do get something a bit more fantasy based in the new line, even if it isn't full on elves and goblins, at least having a bit more in the way of magic and dragons will help - given the amount of new magical looking headpieces the CMFs have given us it does seem like it would be ideal for LEGO to strike while the iron is hot.
  16. I think with the monsters it doesn't matter too much, all of the examples shown above I think work well together. I would like to see a wider range of 'skin colours' on the orcs/goblins, just personal preference, but get that some people prefer the uniform colours - just to me a goblin horde should look messier. My only issue with OTT facial design is on Human characters where it makes them look like monsters as a result of too many random wrinkle lines. Also I think any child scared by one of the examples above and not any of the others is probably overly sensitive...sharp teeth aside, there's nothing massively different. What would be nice would be to get some of the two colour moulded arms and legs in suitable colours for orcs/goblins.
  17. I think Star Wars is a good example of over design on the mini figure faces, the latest Tatooine Luke was very ott on facial lines. However I think that's more a problem for licenced themes than in house themes. I don't mind standard smiley faces, but they aren't as good for setting a really interesting scene. I am sure that the modulars will continue with them so there will always be a supply of standard smiley faces for those that want them.
  18. To be fair LEGO have been adding hats with hair, mainly through the CMF line, I think this is part of the reason I don't mind the £2.50 price for them, it offsets the cost of getting improoved mini figures. The main one they really need to add is a baseball cap with hair, but others like a top hat or cowboy hat could be useful for licence themes. The other theme that might help this is any continuing LEGO Movie franchises, as that was how we got the two builders hats that have hair, seeing as there's a solo Lego Batman movie on the way we might see some new DC superhero moulds as a result of that.
  19. I'm hoping that Squirrel Girl gets added to the MCU in some way, the recent comic book series of her is fantastic for fun reading - I do like serious comics, but sometimes you want to read something thats just going to make you smile. I can't imagine her getting a full movie of her own but I can see her being a secondary character and working really well as some comic relief against someone like Iron Man. I don't really watch any of the cartoons, but I think thats probably the more likely source of getting a Squirrel Girl minifigure in a set - as much as she's one I'd love I'm just always grateful for any completely new characters over new variants of existing ones.
  20. I wouldn't say it's unreasonable to think it might happen, look at the Elves Hair pieces, they have a gradient colour with flesh coloured ears. Not saying I'm expecting this to happen but I could see it happening.
  21. I've noticed in the UK that the price of Elsa's castle is starting to drop, most places stocking it now list it for £30 instead of £35 - I think a deal later in the year might make it perfect for a parts pack to get a couple and make something on a grander scale...I'm actually hoping to get a couple cheap to make an Elves Ice castle :-)
  22. If they cast that in silver it could even be used as a fairly convincing Fantasy helmet despite the ears - you know in the shaped helmets to look intimidating style that fantasy authors often use.
  23. With both LOTR/Hobbit and Chima done I wouldn't be at all surprised if the next Castle line does have more of a fantasy element to it to sort of fill the gap. Equally they could do something similar to the last line where there was one set with fantasy elements and the others were pretty standard 'historical' style - ideally I'd like to see more than one fantasy based one though. With How to Train Your Dragon having been so successful I should think that some element of mythology would be used, and with the abundance of new elf/goblin eared parts introduced from LOTR, Elves and CMFs there's certainly a lot of scope for interesting mini figures.
  24. @Dorayaki - I said that I don't expect them to...
  25. Funnily enough Disney do have a Disney Villains franchise too ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disney_Villains ) so hypothetically it could happen. Realistically though it's one of those merchandise franchises that only really exists for the 'just in case' scenario so that Disney can give anyone wanting to use those characters a pre established guide to what they can have and what they can expect to pay. I can't see LEGO going for the Villains franchise, if anything I can see them taking future films on a film by film basis as to what they might make sets of, but I'm expecting nothing of past films (that way I won't be disappointed by not getting it!)
