  1. It's possible they are trying everything possible to set up as many X-men characters as they can get away with under a different name, but I think they want to focus on using the characters for their powers more than anything else for the time being. I think Marvel will have a heck of a time introducing the X-men into their already established cinematic universe (I'm sure they'd manage it but it might come across as forced) so I think if the X-men licence did ever revert to Marvel we could see something either really interesting in terms of a shift of presentation or a universe reboot scenario. Either way I think Marvel are doing fine without them for now, I get why they'd want them back (personally I'd love some Beast/Avengers crossover) but they are clearly not failing without the X-men/Fantastic 4 franchises.
  2. I've been waiting to see what the first variant of Wyldstyle's hood we might get. I did notice on the prelim pics one of the friends sets seemed to have Wyldstyle's hair in blonde so I figured it was only a matter of time before the hood down piece was used. I really can't wait for these, I've never bought a set on day one at full retail price before but there is no way I'm waiting any longer than I have to for a Hawkman! Makes me wish TLG did preorders!
  3. I really wish they'd choose a different hair piece for Aquaman, particularly to match the new 52 style. Ideally I'd love them to do a version based on the era where Aquaman only has one arm, long hair, a massive beard and lost the bright orange top, but I'd be content with a better hair piece.
  4. Supposedly a lot of the Marvel/Fox feuding centres around Fox threatening legal action if Marvel use the term mutant in any of their films - with mutants being the focus of Xmen Fox feel the need to protect the licence they hold. But this becomes a pain for Marvel because they cant script characters becoming mutated easily. After that there was the aforementioned rebooting Fantastic Four to keep the license, with Fox suggesting they are going to establish the Fantastic Four as part of the same universe as the Xmen, it sets up stronger competition for Marvel than Sony have managed with the Spiderman licence or Warner Bros have so far managed with the DC licence. I'm sceptical that Marvel would risk one of their strongest comic book franchises to try to weaken Fox's position - there is so much established history for Fox to draw from that it would be crazy to assume killing off one character would hit them badly, it's far more likely to hit Marvel negatively than Fox.
  5. Interestingly a lot of people are speculating that Marvel are killing Wolverine off in the comics as a sideways attack on Fox too. Unless Fox pull off something incredible with FF I can see the same patern repeating several tomes over - in fact this isnt the first time a Fantastic Four film was hurredly put together to keep the rights.
  6. I've always thought that the Harry Potter books would work better as a long term TV series than as films. It saves on cutting stupid amounts of content because of the time constraints. I am really hoping for a couple of sets to be remade when Fantastic Beasts comes out. I don't think it will recreate the massive popularity that Harry Potter had the first time but I think it's likely to cause enough of a revival that if TLG still have licensing agreements in place it would make sense for them to at least do a couple of key scenes - e.g Dumbledor's office. While Newt is never going to meet Harry he potentially might meet Dumbledor and a few others - one thing that's really hard to get a good grip on when reading around the Potterverse are characters ages, but Newt was involved with Hogwarts and his family does end up in England (as one of his descendants marries Luna) so it's very hard to know exactly what we might get from Lego based on fantastic beasts.
  7. I can describe many sets (with many minifigs) that I would love to see in exactly the same way. Frankly I'm just constantly pleased any time we get a Marvel set with a hero that isn't spiderman or a DC set with a hero that isn't Batman!
  8. That's exactly what I was getting at, I just don't think that it translates the same way for a Lego minifigure as a Skylanders figurine. To my mind as soon as the toy is just a hiding case for electronics the game isn't truly "toys to life" - a big part of why I don't like them. If someone was able to develop a game where kids could scan in actual toys I think that would be amazing, but the technology as it exists is just too much in the line of selling unnecessary peripheral devices.
  9. The funny thing is I'm normally a massive stickler on the cost of a set and will usually wait ages for a good price before I go for it, but all those new elements listed (and the characters they relate to) have completely overruled all my normal purchase perimeters and I know as soon as this one hits the shelves I'm grabbing one!
  10. Problem is all we've really seen Thanos do on screen at the moment is sit around, to be in with a strong chance of appearing in a set he needs to be in an obvious action scene. I think we will almost certainly see one at some point, but it might take a few years for the storyline of the cinematic universe to make it viable.
  11. Thanks and hi. Signed up to a few but brickset is the only one I visit regularly. Also follow a lot of Lego people on Flickr + twitter and getting to see a lot more that way than I initially thought I would. dr_spock - having just seen your flickr link in your sig, I'm loving your little Godzilla vignette with the dinosaur guy CMF! I have plans for a similar little scene.
  12. Would the hulk buster be brick built or a big fig? I'd like to see it as a brick build but could understand them going with a big fig to try to match the source as accurately as possible. Seen some concept sketches of the Hulk buster to feature in avengers 2 and it does look pretty good.
  13. The only way I can see a 'Toys to life' style game working for lego is if you could use actual minifigures, not just little statues of minifigures that are not usable as minifigures, otherwise there would be no point to it being Lego. I will admit I'm not a fan of these types of games, seems to me if you're already paying a premium to get a game with a peripheral device the least they could do is include all the content, not make you fork out more for each character.
  14. I had this problem last week, for most of the week. Tried all the normal clearing cookies etc to no avail, checked on my iPad and same thing. It was still working in chrome though so I didn't miss out. Now it seems fine on mine though, obviously sorted itself out.
  15. Hi everyone, I've been looking to increase my Lego network for a while. I am a regular user of another Lego forum, but think there's still more to go round. Having heard some good things about eurobricks I figured I'll give it a go. My main interests are fantasy and Sci fi lines, having come out of dark ages as a result of minifigure collecting.
