The LEGO Movie Sets News and Discussion
Itaria No Shintaku replied to Itaria No Shintaku's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I would be TOO happy if they released stuff like pirates or classic castle or classic space back, maybe in a new shape... but I actually think it's not going to happen. The first set we had a glimpse on, in fact, doesn't help thinking this way. Maybe old characters can have something like a cameo, but ENTIRE sets from their theme? No sorry, I hope with all my heart to be proven wrong, but I actually believe those sets will be all new stuff. IMHO they will at their best look like: or Just my 2p, of course.- 2,626 replies

I respect your opinion but I find it very stilted.

Actually today the problem is more male-bashing than female stereotypes, to me.
-
I have to repeat myself since someone did not read: "Additionally, the company’s line of collectible LEGO Minifigures will receive its first Hollywood makeover with a series inspired by “THE LEGO MOVIE” cast of 16 new and “new-again” LEGO characters." New again means that they can release already released characters.

Actually, that's true but unrelevant. Since it's not fully binary, but nearly, exceptions to the rule are so few that can be put out of the argument. On your ID card you have either "male" or "female", there's no third option, so in most sites you can choose either Male of Female and so on. So it can be considered easily binary for all purposes.

I actually don't think so. The idea that all women have something in common which no men do is NOT wrong. it's ipso facto what it is, and that can be clearly seen every day. So until you fill this gap we can't communicate. Men and Women are deeply different BECAUSE of their gender. I still fail to see why in 2013 there are people refusing this simple fact.

"Equal, not identical." I like it a lot. I will re use this if you allow me to.

I don't want to add fuel to the fire, but I eventually found what I was looking for. All these discussions about TLC being against females and pro-macho-man sounded very strange to me because I recalled the idea that TLC was very feminist. I finally remembered where I found it. Minifigures Character Encyclopedia, Page 98 "Despite her superior brainpower, she is very fond of her lovably primitive mate and does her best to protect him from hungry meat eaters (and his own inventions)." This is very feminist, also very arguably sexist and offensive. Here you can easily read about a girl that has "a superior brainpower" than her male counterpart, and that, role inverted from what I was reading, is the girl who has to protect the man. I hope this is clearly enough to end the discussion about lego portraiting pro-boy(man) figures. Of course if TLC would have written about a man who had superior brainpower than his female counterpart, dozens of feminist video would have surfaced on youtube... we live in a very sad world.

Itaria No Shintaku replied to MisterR's topic in Special LEGO Themes

Hello, I am creating an huge battlefield scenario for a fantasy battle "Chaos vs Order" or "Dark vs Light" or whatever. I have collected over 1500 minifigures, and the scenario should be 96 x 288 studs (a little stretched, but I have limits for an existing MOC I have to blend with). Apart from the obvious conception that "the more the number, the more the effect", I thought that there are groups of numbers in which the awe and interest of the viewer can be the same. I mean, 50 or 100 are really a different deal, but 300 or 400 I don't think that makes that difference. So just asking, what are your personal thoughts about this stuff? Thanks!
-
I might suggest adding dark tan (sand yellow for the TLC colors) in some spots. It makes a "dirt" effect, expecially on the lower parts of the castle, plus it makes an excellnt "ground". I personally dislike reddish brown for ground. You can also use tan (brick yellow) for sand, if you want to make a beach. Another color I love in this context is medium dark flesh (medium nougat), it has a lot of uses too but that's quite expensive.

Impressive! But why that title?

Very nice collection, very "retro" style :) I love it. Though I would never MOC like that, I love more modern style, but that's very good that different people have different interests.

Actually, you have a "centuria". From your roman friend. :D In the meantime I reached over 50 minotaurs, over 40 heroic knight, over 35 cyclops. I'm very proud also, since that was very rare, to have 20+ forest maidens.

LEGO CMF Series 12 Guessing Game
Itaria No Shintaku replied to Itaria No Shintaku's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Hello. Thanks to Whitefang, this topic has been restored. Please note that this topic is for the "guessing game". It means that you try to predict the 16 minifigures, not the ones you want. EG: you can think a Tin Man (since they did the green faced witch and the scarecrow) to be very likely by fitting the Oz universe, yet you would never like such a minifigure? Ok, here's the place. EG: you would want so much a spitfire dragonhead minifig, but you think that's highly unlikely. Well, this is not the topic for you. Hope I made it clear. Thanks Whitefang! -
The LEGO Movie Sets News and Discussion
Itaria No Shintaku replied to Itaria No Shintaku's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I actually don't think so. I don't think that, say, series 12 or 13 will be based on the movie. I actually believe we will have series 12/13 AND the movie series, just as much as they did with the olympic series.- 2,626 replies

Lego Series 12! What do you want to see..?
Itaria No Shintaku replied to MisterR's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I am more than a bit disappointed by the merging of the two topics, since they address totally different goals. One is about what people WANT to see, mine was about what people THINK MORE LIKELY to be in series 12. In fact, most of my guesses aren't characters I would like to see at all. -
REVIEW: 71002 LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 11
Itaria No Shintaku replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
THanks for the superb review. I am actually totally disappointed by the rates of tiki and scarecrows. I have ordered a box, and I will literally throw away welders and mountain climbers...- 117 replies

I find it difficult to understand how can you manage to have doubts about a minifigure... I mean, I have 100% of successes since series 3 when they removed the bar codes. Two pieces may look the same among 2 cmf, but then in that case you go for a second piece I'll add my personal guide for feeling the minifigures as I did already before: 1) Easiest: the elf. Short legs ftw. 2) Very Easy: Yeti. Big bulky piece. 3) Very Easy: Gingerbread man. No standard head, cup. 4) Very Easy: Evil Mech. Big bulky shoulderpiece. 5) Very Easy: Female Robot. No standard head. 6) Very Easy: Grandma. Big rubbery basket piece. 7) Easy: Tiki Warrior. Look for a big bar, do not mess with the pitchfork and you got it. 8) Easy: Scarecrow. Look for a big bar, do not mess with the spear and you got it. 9) Easy: Welder. Lot of pieces, should be easy. 10) Easy: Mountain climber. Go for the pickaxe. 11) Easy: Blues Brother. Go for the sax, watch out he has the same hat piece as the scarecrow. 12) Medium: Waitress. Do not mess the glass with the flask of the scientist. Big round piece. 13) Medium: Scientist: Double flask. 14) Medium: Barbarian: Double sword. 15) Medium: Policeman: Big unique hat piece. 16) Medium: Lederhosen girl: Pretzel. Having only two same pieces (Same hat for scarecrow and blues brother), this series will be amongst the easiers for identifying minis by feeling them.

It's about physical endurance. By the way there are jobs that italian girls usually do not take even into consideration. These are jobs that in 34 years I've only seen about male people in Rome (over 5 millions inhabitants) Construction Worker Car Mechanic Electricist Plumber Road worker (building roads, digging for changing wires for gas, telecomunication, and so on) Shortly, here it's very very difficult that a girl studies until 30 years old and then accepts to do this kind of jobs that in Italy are considered very humble. While men are considered more "brute-force" workpower and then even if that's humble, you can live with that, girls are kind more proud and they rarely if never accept job like these. Actually, It's been 10 15 years that I do not see italian people being construction or road workers, these jobs usually are taken by immigrates from Russia, Romania or Poland. Immigrates from these countries actually are male construction/road workers and women being houseworkers or caring for old people. That's the way it is here.
