It's for my (admittedly somewhat detailed) Munchkin race backstory. A small forest filled with pools, within walking distance of Eubric, without inhabitants(other than the Munchkins). I'm just trying to figure out the places still unused on the map that it could fit into.
-
If it's all flatland, maybe I should set the forest underground, then. It would certainly help explain how the Munchkins can exist in the middle of things, but don't have very much interaction with other factions/people groups. A big underground pine forest with blue bioluminescent flowers to light it could be rather pretty, especially with the flowers reflecting off of the Pools. Any thoughts?
-
Great! One question - has the landscape around there been explained in detail? I have this one sort of central pool in mind, and it involves a statue and a 30-foot high cliff face. I suppose I could put it in a dip in the land...
-
Since we're talking about maps already as it is, anyone have any thoughts on where the Forest of the Blue Pools might be? It should be within reasonably walking distance(even if several days) of Eubric, and I'd pictured it as being at least a square half-mile to a mile of forest...

What Marvel/DC Characters Will NEVER Get Minifigures?
Lind Whisperer replied to Suspsy's topic in LEGO Licensed
We probably won't be getting a Runaways team anytime soon. Which is a real shame, seeing as how we already have the perfect mold for Old Lace: I was really hoping for an appearance in L:MSH. Not exactly sure how the creators thought that characters known for such...¨impressive¨ abilities as mind controlling squirrels were more deserving of placement. -

Love that song. First heard a partial segment of it on AoS. The whole Romeo and Juliet suicide thing is a bit of a downer, though, since it changes "Don't fear the reaper" from meaning "I"m walking through a world of death and surviving*", to "Come on, let's commit suicide - it's totally a romantic thing to do together!". *Well, that's what it sounds like to me...

I bet I know what typeface they use in Hel(l). (This would have been more funny if it was an font option in the reply editor. Not quite as funny when it isn't...Was that what Helvetia was originally named after? The two seem too much alike for it to be a coincidence.)

Heroica RPG- Quest #103: Alfendi Lupine Strikes Again!
Lind Whisperer replied to Kintobor's topic in The Heroica Archive
"Yes sir, just one moment more, please..." Lind keeps looking around the room for anything valuable, and searching the walls and floors for hidden cupboards or safes. He sees the soot on his sleeve from the chimney and tries to see if he can brush it off and collect it in his handkerchief*? (*If one were to throw soot successfully into an enemy's eye, it might hinder their sight, as it were. Of course, the chances of doing it effectively would probably be small, but Asking If Something Counts Is a Free Action...)- 500 replies

Any general estimates on when it will re-open? Just curious, as I'm guessing it will re-open and fill long before 103# ends. Of course, we're about to start the long night watch, but it's the one night... Of course, I'm sure Lupendi has a long and devious scheme to keep us occupied... I still think there was something up that chimney. Whatever it was, though, it flue the coop.

Review: 76021 The Milano Spaceship Rescue
Lind Whisperer replied to montgocloud's topic in LEGO Licensed
I like the set...except for one thing. The cockpit is nice, and it's nice to see that LEGO is finally beginning to give us cockpits capable of holding more than a single fig...but that tile. That's not random Aurobesh - that spells "LOCK". Because it was the top of a crate in the Bounty Hunter Assault Gunship(One of my proud possessions, despite the fact that it came out right as they canon-modded the cartoon version to be longer.). If it was just random letters, that would be one thing, but to have something that specifically means something in one particular language, in other media...something just doesn't seem quite right about that. Also, I don't play Halo, but I recall in Battle of the Bricks, that there are apparently some sort of guns that look like Pratt's, only in purple? I was just wondering if these would make a fairly decent purist equivalent.- 67 replies

Good job with the mirrors, I had guessed(from the Sleepyhead's hair piece appearing twice) that there was some sort of trick, but I'd thought that it was a very clean editing job. Well done! The actual affect is almost unnoticeable, even when you know what and where it is.

I wonder...I know that the rule is that you have to play at least one quest before you host one, but if there's a bunch of level 1s looking for a quest...and my quest is basically kill a few enemies(which could really be set at any level, as per their nature), and pick up a nice pile of easy loot...Hmm...

Really hoping I might win the the Everlasting Venom - It would go perfectly with my Darker Ethereal Deck. Or my Ethereal Deck. But Darker would probably fit better with Venom. Question: With the new second character option, could we transfer one or more objects to that character from our own inventory? Obviously, there could be problems with letting more than one or two pieces, but in light of the lottery, I wanted to find out. Lind wouldn't have too much use for the Letter Of Recommendation since I ended up playing him as a rogue, but my future secondary character could use it for Bonaparte Rep, so I was wondering if I could send it to them someday.

Ideas for New Action Themes
Lind Whisperer replied to Perry the Platypus's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
From the pages of obscure LEGO history, I've mentally assembled about half an "Avengers"-style team out of canon LEGO "superheroes" - including a giant, destructive, big, green, hulking animal... -
Heroica RPG - Third Anniversary Lottery
Lind Whisperer replied to Sandy's topic in The Heroica Archive
Lind, being always aware of the moment and most popular events(especially such a significant one for Heroes!), and had mailed a letter with just the right timing so that it would arrive exactly after the anniversary celebration was announced. His letter was received, opened, and his slip put down for the raffle. -
The difference between Mr. Gold and SDCC figs is that the one is released world-wide, and the other isn't. You have some nice numbers, but they don't really give the full picture. Sure, you could spend $598, and hope to find 1 Mr. Gold...or you could spend $2,989,850.50 before you found a single one. Or, you could walk into a store, and find one the very first packet you pick up. They were released world-wide randomly, and the chance to find one was as great in one place as it was in another(in concept). But with SDCC figs, there are a very limited amount produced, and they are limited to only being available from SDCC, and from scalpers on the second hand market. There's just no way to compare the two.

It took me a minute to get it. And then I got it. Well, well, well written - I tip my hat to you, sir - well done.

True, the feelings expressed here are generally centered around things other than the children aspect, however that aspect is the one that is most likely to appeal to the non-collector. Also, I was trying to stay accurate to the comic it's referencing and "keep minifigs out of kid's hands" was more similar to "take their college fund" than "keeping collectors from finishing their collection" would have been. This situation isn't working out in LEGO's favor. The primary result that LEGO receives is bad press. Which does draw slight attention. But not enough attention so that it makes an effective difference in sales, which is the only reason any company might want bad press. But this isn't big enough to get them in the news, so even that doesn't really have any positive effect on sales. I have no issue with Mr. Gold. He was a fair exclusive. He was released world-wide, and although the chances of someone finding him were small, they existed*. If a exclusive must be released, then he was about the best that we could hope for. True, I will fully agree that memes are not the most mature approach, but the chances of the common consumer taking ten minutes to read through a block of text are much smaller than the twenty or so seconds it takes for a meme to give a message. Agreed, the joke is a bit dark...until you realize that that it's not a joke, rather it is a reference to a scene from Arkham Asylum: Living Hell 1#. Granted, I will admit that the humor's a bit dark and there's a small chance it might be misread...But who exactly is speaking, again? Right, the Joker. Someone who's known for being over the top with his humor. Humor that got taken Up to Eleven visually(not just in words) with the release of The Dark Knight, to the point where this is almost tame in comparison. Granted, that doesn't make dark humor good, but it's still a good reference. *Generally existed. There were multiple confirmed reports of employees sifting through boxes to find him, but this was not something that LEGO could control, and I fully understand that.

The main plot isn't dependent on it. It's a completely separate little "mini-game*"- just a chance for the party to win a little** extra gold. And it's not a "five-rolls-and-you're-out" scenario, they can keep trying as long as they feel like it. *Mini-game's not the right word for it. **I may be slightly under-exaggerating here...

Exactly. I Love NY Yoda was not a part of the SW canon, or any other SW materials, except that event. He is a cute little figure to have, but you don't need to have him to have the complete range of SW characters*. *You might need him for the full range of all figures related to SW, but that's an entirely different matter.
