  1. I just had a thought that maybe we need a Single Pane Bonkle Funnies thread.
  2. Not just you, I totes do this as well. Anyway, new set images. Nothing has changed. I still love them and I still want Ekimu.
  3. How long before someone builds Trazyn to watch over their own collection?
  4. Man, this thread's gotten weird. Scalping and people complaining about not being able to buy a GWP pack. Question: Was Lego the one running that promotion where you got a Toa and the corresponding protector for a reduced price?
  5. If it came with a head, that would be perfect.
  6. "I must have the Legendary Mask of Creation! MYEEEEH!"
  7. I like all of them. Even Scorpio and Slicer.
  8. If we have to have different coloured CCBS bones, I'd rather have set colours than bley. I've got red ones from Breez 4.0 and Core Hunter, two of which are going into Tahu when I get some gold shells. Those look great, and the only thing miss from HF is how tight the colour schemes were prior to Brain Attack. Now we've got random bley and silver bits
  9. If you like curbstomps, that is. Power Lance.
  10. I got my first two sets when I was six years old, and I had no trouble telling the difference between the various axle lengths, and those were all black. Kids aren't that stupid, and it's much easier to tell the bones apart than axles. Furthermore, they solved the possibility of having the kids mix it up by printing a 1:1 image of the part at the bottom of the page, for anyone that needed it. We don't need the sets to have their nice, black endoskeletons broken up by bley. Anyway, images of new sets! Ekimu... I want him. He's amazing and I need him in my collection already. Skull Grinder: Looks pretty cool, and I want to get him too, though Ekimu is my main reason for this set. Skull Warrior: My opinion hasn't changed. He's cool. Looks pretty good to me. Skull Basher: Again, decent. I like that purple too. Skull Slicer: I still like him, but he's got my laughing. Why? The exposed ball joints. When the leaks dropped, people complained that the new bones were there instead of using the normal ones with no shells. Slicer uses normal bones as well... and people whine that he's cheap because he has exposed ball joints on his limbs. Make up your minds, people. If he'd used the new bones, you'd probably be complaining that the useful trans-green bones were the new ones and not the more MOC-friendly normal ones. Skull Scorpio: Well, I want that Pohatu mask, so I'm getting him. He does look better, though. As for the randomly-coloured parts... On Scorpio, they're only on his weapons and eyes, so, going by my headcanon, it's the energy that's animating the normally dead skull creatures. Disappointed by the lack of black friction extenders, though. Anyway... WHen I get these, I'm probably going to make them even more mismatched/piecemeal, etc.
  11. I used the rules for a Nuva vs. Alpha team fight. When I noticed that Draik was using the entirety of everything the factory had done ever, I had to expand the scope for the second post to include the crazier characters. If you're referring to Krakua summoning Bohrok, the Bohrok are non-sentient entities, and not characters in their own right by the standards of the show. THat would be equivalent to the Eye of Thundera's role in the He-Man vs. Lion-O fight, or the various enemies absorbed in Kirby vs. Buu, or Goku getting help from the sun. THe Bohrok summoned in the Battle of Metru Nui were not actively seeking out attacks on the Rahkshi, the Rahkshi were just in the way.
  12. OP specifically lists only the Alpha Team and the Nuva. That said, if you're going for every Toa, that's a lot of Kaita/Toa Nui... Seriously, the one thing that stopped me from considering Akamai and Wairuha as a viable tactic was the possibility of being swarmed, but if we're using every Toa ever... Also, you can't award HF a victory just because you think that there should be a Death Star equivalent. Considering that the largest villain organisation was about nine disgruntled robots, they don't have anywhere near the resources to do that. Also, let's focus on the MU robot's destruction: THe robot's skull is cracked open by a piece of moon. Even though it survived crashing into an entire moon at top speed from space before. THis is why the ending to the Mata Nui saga makes the most sense. Furthermore, not all crime is handled by the Hero Factory. Chief Drax, anyone? Makuhero has its own police force, and every other populated planet probably has the same. The Heroes are called in to deal with supervillains and invasions, not petty crime, so crime rate research does not reflect the effectiveness of the heroes. Furthermore, a single Toa could wipe out a street-level gang with a wave of his/her hand, depending on the element. They also didn't have enough heroes to deal with every villain after Breakout, or the ones that escaped to form the Villain Factory would've been recaptured. Also, every Toa would then include Tuyet. Nui Stone. Jovan. All the heroes magnetized into a giant, unmoving ball. Helryx. Centuries-old lady of war. Iruni. Tele-frag. Jaller's there, rendering any and all sneak-attacks moot. Krakua's milling around to sic Bohrok on the Heroes. Also, one Ignika. Sure, he was inexperienced, but he was a Toa (Capable of creating, controlling, and absorbing life energy, and would've been able to use a Life Nova Blast), and after wearing the mask for a few seconds, Matoro was a full-blown reality warper. If the Ignika by itself has that kind of power, which it should, because Matoro didn't on his own, then he's basically an instant-win button. And, as said, a single Nova Blast can wipe a landmass off the map. You'd only need one to obliterate whatever island the fight was taking place on, and kill everyone but the user, leading to a phyrric victory for the Toa, but a victory nonetheless. Or hey, Onua and Nuparu could just make the ground collapse under their foes' feet and swallow them. Lewa could hit them with a tornado before they could even get close. Zaria and Chiara would have an absolute field day, turning their armour and weapons against them and frying their internals with electrical overdoses. The heroes may have superior tech, but the Toa have complete and total mastery of the battlefield and the weather. And hey, then there's TOa of Plasma. All those plasma weapons the heroes use? Useless. Hey, how well would they deal with Gali, Hahli, Gaaki, Nokama, Naho, et all throwing a tsunami at them? Oh, and the most obvious detail? Hero Cores. The vital, life-giving power source of every single Hero... is worn on the outside of the chestplate.Once someone with an Akaku spots their obviously exposed heart-equivalent... Kakamas and Kualsis to victory? Yes.
  13. I think that was mainly to demonstrate how ridiculously overpowered Icarax is. Remember, Teridax couldn't beat him in a straight fight, and had to resort to stalling him out. But still, Jaller, a relatively new Toa of Fire, was able to charge up a blast that could have glassed Metru Nui on his first attempt. Gali completely destroyed an entire landmass with her's. Icarax tanekd it, but that's more his own insane toughness than anything else. And herein lies the problem: Yes, the HF heroes police a galaxy, but nothing in that galaxy is quite as dangerous as the BoM, or the Dark Hunters. The HF villains seemed to be pretty pathetic when compared to the threats in the MU, and in at least three waves, they were just animals. Then there's also a conflict of ideology: HF heroes do not kill. Nor do Toa. However, the way the rules are enforced are different. THe Toa have a code against killing. However, there is a get-out clause. If in a dire situation, where not killing the foe would result in the Toa's own death, or worse, the death of a Matoran, the Toa would be authorised to use lethal force. It's an absolute-last-resort... but it's there. This, by extension, means that Toa are capable of killing if they need to. Their weapons are capable of inflicting fatal injuries, as are their powers. On the other hand, the HF heroes do not have such a rule. Rather, they just aren't built to do it. They're built, and their weapons are built, to incapacitate and capture. THe exception here is IFB, but they are countered on that field by the Mask of Speed, and once the Toa get into close-quarters, it's over. Death Battle suspends all no-kill codes in order to produce the battle to death desired, which would leave us with a team of kill-happy Toa, armed with the tools and powers to achieve that, and a team of kill happy heroes, armed with the tools and powers to stun a local robotic criminal. Mask powers add a whole new dimension to things. Super Speed, Shielding, X-Ray Vision, super Strength, etc would be useful. And the Kanohi Nuva share powers. There's also one other flaw for the heroes: It's been said that the heroes would win because the Factory could provide upgrades to counter the Toa's abilities. Except it couldn't. Two Death Battle rules: 1) No outside help: The upgrades would be designed, built, and installed by Factory staff, not the Heroes, and being provided with such upgrades would be classed as help. 2) No prep time: The combatants in Death Battle go in completely blind. The HF heroes would have no idea what the Toa could do. Being blind as to what the Toa are, and with no upgrades other than what they've got on them at the time? The heroes would be screwed.
  14. WOw, I've been away for a while, and this happens. ANyway, I grabbed Tahu, Lewa, Gali, and Not-Jaller on Saturday. Love them. Also, tip for anyone who thinks Tahu's shins are a bit bland: The piston add-on fits, and looks pretty good. I need those webisodes in English. Hey, maybe they're taking a lot longer to get them out because they're trying to find a voice for Gali? Anyway, new sets. Skull Warrior: Ah, the classic skeleton archer. Looks pretty cool. THe multiple weapons are good too. Skull Slicer: I approve of the Grievous-ing. I don't approve of the whip. Four blades would've been better. THen again, I just don't like chain weapons in sets because they always end up flopping uselessly on display. Also, black friction joints, thank you! Skull Basher: Looks decently huge and powerful. Not a priority, but pretty cool. Skull Scorpio: Another arachnid that sacrifices aesthetic and poseability for a function. Pass. Skull Grinder: One one hand, the torso is great but the legs are too spindly. On the other hand, Duh, it's a skeleton, and it's nice to have a big bad that isn't some giant burly thing or a monster. Ekimu: Okay, he needs his legs modified, but otherwise, he is perfection and I want him. Remember: Ekimu does not come packed with Skull Grinder. Skull Grinder comes packed with Ekimu. As for the new parts: Swords: I like them, but they seem a little underwhelming for some reason. I dunno why. Axes: These, I like. Nice and painful looking. Armour parts: Want! Bones: Love them. One of the things about armour skeletons is that some of their attire will have been stolen or rotted away. These guysactually look undead because of these feature, and I love it.
  15. Eh. The MOC is very well-made, it looks very impressive, but I have some problems with its upper half. The silver Stormarang looks out of place as a collarbone, being a bit too bright. I now there's more silver further down, but there's a huge gap between them solitary silver collarbones and the silver in the rest of model. Where are its eyes? The arms just look out of proportion. Too slim, the hands have sacrificed good proportions for five digits and look too wide and stocky, and while this one is different due to person taste, the shoulders aren't big enough for my liking. I kinda like my villains to have big, pointy shoulders, whether its because of the armour itself or something behind. But the problem I have is with the wings. Cloth wings of that sort are pretty awesome as a concept, but they tend to lose that effect when put in a different pose (Hence why I want to get Smaug's wings for my next winged Makuta.) Furthermore, the wings are far too small. I know that's been a thing for a while in Bionicle, but in sets, that's because of the piece limit, and when they get animated, the wings are hugely enlarged. For example, Teridax in 04. On the combiner, the wings look too small and insubstantial. In the movie, they're huge, and even then, he can't fly particularly far with them. THey also got better about this later on: Antroz, for example. His wings are folded, yes, but you can tell that, if unfolded, they'd by plenty big. Vamprah's weren't bad either, essentially being his whole arm. These wings, however, are too small. They don't look anywhere close to large enough to support the MOC in flight, as opposed to, say, Zaalroth. Rather than adding to the fear factor by A), looking imposing and B), giving an extra dimension which it can attack from... they instead make me think of it fluttering them furiously in an attempt to achieve liftoff, to no avail.
  16. I just wish they'd left the Vahi out of it. I'd rather have a new story, and not worry about any ties to the old universe. The old universe was great, I loved following it, but I'm happy with it being over and us getting a new story. Dredging in something like the Vahi and explicitly tying it to the original verse... Just no.
  17. Remember, SOlek's mask wasn't meant to be a Noble Akaku, it was intended to be something else. The Av-Matoran wearing noble versions of the Toa Phantoka's masks was something that Greg wasn't fond of. If it had been intended to be the Noble form of the Akaku, they likely would've given it scopes.
  18. How many other series for kids acknowledge that their characters reproduce? Lots. And plenty of them have regular characters with children THey draw it for G1 too. There are whole galleries of Bionicle girls with... parts... on DA.
  19. Got to agree with the New Hau > Prelim Hau. Also, I'm playing Pokemon Alpha Sapphire (I called my Treecko Lewa), and I go to do the Rusturf Tunnel Sidequest. I enter the tunnel on the Verdanturf side. I get attacked by a Hiker... Hiker Mike would like to battle!
  20. I'm waiting for him to be called Leh-wa.
  21. Just watch, he'll be Lay-wah again next yeah.
  22. Actually, I love this idea. What better way to show that element of the culture than actually have it on-screen?
  23. Not sure if I like the Turaga-ish vibe that PoF had in the trailer. Set has a shoulder-cannon and twin fire swords. ANimation model is a hunchback with a cane. One of these days, we'll see a wise authority figure in Bionicle who doesn't get turned into a pensioner. ONe day.
  24. I agree, I'm just stating that I don't think the original Mata are related because that isn't a thing in the MU (A location currently exclusive to Gen1).
  25. I'm pretty sure they're all just brothers(And sister)-in-arms, on account of there being no biological reproduction in the MU, and the fact that everyone and everything on a good-aligned team in the MU used "Brother" and "Sister".
