True. I've updated the OP with a photo on a white background. -

[MOC] F1 Red Bull RB12 with custom stickers
BrickMonkeyMOCs replied to Roberto7g's topic in LEGO Licensed
Very nice! It looks great in dark blue, and the stickers add a lot of impact. You've inspired me to upgrade my old city-scale Ferrari F1 cars to 2016 specs. Work has begun...- 7 replies

I was after a kitset I could sell from a local gallery during the tourist season, and decided to have a go at the New Zealand fantail which is something of an iconic creature here. The model features a poseable head, wings, and tail, to give it some character. The internal structure is rather complicated, with studs in all directions, clips and click hinges for the tail, and an internal 3-wide shoulder section within a 4-wide shell. The DBG slopes behind the eyes and the tan 1x4 wings are rare in these colours, so they will need to be subbed out to bring the price down on the final model. Some new additions to the collection are on the way...

Well, I've just spent today going through the parts list and entering into BrickLink. It would cost me US$360+postage to order all parts, which unfortunately pushes it right up into the 42056 GT3 RS price range. The wheel arch panels are super rare in blue, and the 6571 steering arms are also very rare and expensive.
-
1144 parts. @Steph77: Other than the nose panel and the wheelarch flex axles (11L in the LXF file but 12L on the model, right?), are there any further parts that should differ from what the LXF file specifies? Also, there are some unattached parts in the file. It is obvious where some of them go, but can you tell me where the two grey axles, three ball/pins, black 3L pin w/ center hole, and two blue half bushes go? And other than the tail lights, are there any other parts absent from the LXF file?

Thank you. The recipient was very pleased with the model. I was also able to get hold of some clear 1x2x3 panels, so I have removed the horizontal seam in the window area on each side.

Very nice! I love the front grille and the black trim around the cockpit area. I'd like to see this with rolling suspension added (the way many have done for the 60115 Rally Truck).

What an outstanding model! Beautiful work capturing the external shape and styling, especially with those vents on the side and rear. The cockpit area is also very nicely shaped, with a clever door mechanism. The engine and gearbox are impressive too. I also quite like the detachable rather than hinged rear engine cover. How many points of contact for its removal? One query though: Doesn't that front suspension geometry place a lot of stress on those 4L liftarms?

Beautiful work! Really looking forward to instructions so I can have a go at building this creation. I hope LEGO pay attention and realize that you don't have to go big to achieve great looks and functionality. This is a very impressive compact build with amazing features. Best of luck for the competition! One suggestion. Is it possible to use white flex tubes for the top and bottom of the windscreen?

That's some clever engineering, resulting in spectacular handing and performance. I really like your LMP car too. :)

MOC: Sea King Coast Guard Helicopter PF motorized
BrickMonkeyMOCs replied to ER0L's topic in LEGO Town
This would be a fantastic MOC even without the motorization, so congratulations on pulling that off as well. I particularly like the main rotor hub and the construction around it at the top of the fuselage. It would be nice to see Lego making more properly brick-built helicopters like this, instead of using prefabricated parts for the cockpit and fuselage. -
OP updated with photos.

LOL, anyone else notice the designer's name on the number plate? P51AK1 -
I see I can now upload an .ldr file directly to a parts list. Is that new with this update? I certainly hadn't seen that before.

LEGO Ideas Discussion

Pity about the Concorde. I would have bought that. Hope Johnny-Five makes it. -
Yep, all good now.

When you update photos in Flickr you change the URLs for the images, so you will need to update the OP with new links.

Thanks for the feedback. I would like to have replicated the slight inwards angling on the front part of the windscreen area, but there just aren't any windscreen parts that will do the job. I would also have preferred trans black over trans clear for the windscreen area, but the parts don't exist yet in that colour.

I really like your integration of the black cockpit area into the yellow body.
