[OL-FB4] Battle for the Southern Isle
Capt Wolf replied to Franco Clarke's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Your battle stories are always entertaining, and this one is no exception. And it's just fun seeing those old Imperial Flagships out on the "sea"! I really like the photos where you have a strong foreground element, like the first photo through the foliage, and the fourth photo from behind the cannons. Well done! -
[OL-FB] Small Peppercorn Production Property
Capt Wolf replied to Capn Frank's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Nice build representing this process! The drying area for the peppercorn reminds me a bit of my indigo factory with the fermenting pits. Good job with the awning; I wouldn't mind seeing some more picture of that to see how you did it. -
Fun build, and even more fun with the story that comes with it! I really like how you represented the look of an old, gnarled apple tree. And congrats to MaEsTrO (did I get that right? ) on their apple plantation monopoly!

Events were moving quickly in Eslandola these days. The king had signed the magna carta, a colonial council was to be formed, and elections to that new governmental body were just around the corner. But where would the new Colonial Council meet? Gov. Guilder thought he had just the place. Weelond's lecture hall was not heavily used, and it was large enough to host large meetings. Although the meeting location of the new council was likely to rotate throughout the colonies, as Eslandola's oldest colony, Guilder thought Weelond was an appropriate location for the first council session. But where the council would meet was not Guilder's decision to make, so after he had the main hall prepared for the council. he invited several of Eslandola's prominent citizens to an unveiling of the renovated lecture hall. Hopefully they would approve of the Weelond lecture hall as a suitable first location for the new Colonial Council. Let's go in... The lecture dias was perfect for the Admius Legistrad, the council leader. Banners were hung on the back wall, flanking the crossed anchors relief behind the dias. MAESTRO representatives discussed matters... The large windows along the side walls let in plenty of light. Members of trade companies and independent traders engaged in lively conversation. The initial council would have seven delegations of three members each, although an eighth delegation was likely in the future. Desks for each council member were covered with green cloth, and provided an ink well and quill. No need for the unused desks to have an ink well, but one of the desks that is supposed to have one is missing it. Perhaps this fellow knows something about that. Here are a couple of pictures without the crowd: And a picture with the entry door attached: *********************** The hall was largely inspired by Independence Hall in Philadelphia. (I've been looking for an excuse to build it in Lego for several years.) The design for the top of the door frames was stolen from Bregir [edit: apparently I stole it from Oleander architects instead]; the design of the fireplaces was largely stolen from Garmadon. I hope my use of several Eslandolan sigfigs was acceptable to those involved. And since it's hard to classify just what property category "government" falls under, and given the backstory for the build as a lecture hall, I'm licensing the build as a large educational property. Besides, self-governance will certainly be a learning experience! Thanks for looking. All C&C welcome!

Thanks! I had enough completed to take some teaser shots, so I just had to share. The hall is basically done, but I'm still working on some details to finish it off.- 780 replies

Stunning! Love it! The siding, the roof, the water, the mangroves, everything. And I've been searching for a good way to do that angled siding effect. Now I know. Thank you!- 14 replies

[OL - FB1] Amedée's bottles
Capt Wolf replied to robinnilsson403's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Nice little MOC, and a good period-appropriate factory. I like the use of those funky arch pieces (and the backstory explaining their use), and the white snake as smoke is very clever! Color usage with the variation in wall color and cobblestone is very good, too, and the green bottles really catch the viewer's eye. My only critique is that I'd like to have seen a little more detail on the roof rather than just bare plates, and tiles atop the black frame for the MOC would have finished off the presentation nicely. But this is a very nice MOC that adds to BoBS. -
Mini-Challenge: The King's Demise - Results Published
Capt Wolf replied to Kai NRG's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Congrats to the winners, and thanks to Kai and Garmadon for running it! -
Ooh, I really like this fort! It combines a classic Pirates feel with some more historical architecture. I especially like the roof to the tower. And while i understand redoing the island so you have cliffs instead of low plateau, the effect you have now is quite good. All-in-all an excellent MOC with an old-timey feel!

Very nice, even with all the pink! You've packed a great amount of detail into the presentation. The lines of the hull are very good. And I'm very glad you managed to get her licensed. Congrats, and .

Thank you all! Thanks! I tend to struggle with my landscaping, so this was a good exercise for me. And I'm pleased to be in this venture with you as well! -
Just incredible! So much detail: texture, color, creative piece usage, minifig activity. Inspirational!

The Empire of Eslandola: Sign-up and Discussion
Capt Wolf replied to kabel's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Calling All Shipwrights The naval arms race has taken off as of late in the Brick Seas. Although we have stopped King Fernando from attacking Oleon, the bluecoat response has been to order the construction of SIX ships-of-the-line. Corrington has responded to recent events by ordering the construction of NINE frigates. What is Eslandola’s response to be? We need to protect our trade ships and interests at sea, but with the king now powerless and disinterested, and the Colonial Council yet to be seated, no action has been forthcoming. So, private citizens such as Gov. Willem Guilder of Weelond and others are offering financial incentives for the construction of a single ship-of-the-line and three frigates to be licensed for use by the state. - For the first ship-of-the-line (having at least 50 guns), the builder shall receive 175 DBs. - For the first three frigates (having 24-44 guns), the builder shall receive 150 DBs if the ship is a 5th rate (32-44 guns), and 90 DBs if the ship is a 6th rate (24-28 guns). This is just a start at maintaining the naval balance in the colonies, and if any other citizens are interested in sponsoring the construction of these new, larger classes of ships, I will gladly add those incentives to this post.- 780 replies

Wonderful collaboration! You are all to be commended. KB's estate is impressive as always (and I always try to pick up some new detail I can steal from your builds ). Phred, I particularly like the design of the carriage, and cool piece usage of those blades for the patio roof. Capt. G, you have captured the look and feel of a cellar quite well; I like how it is not at all pristine! And a shout-out for Bardo musicians as well! All together a fantastic build!

Eslandola's Colonial Council - Discussion
Capt Wolf replied to Garmadon's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
My interpretation was that you would be limited to two: either your TC or your region, plus the Admius Legistrad, but that has not been made clear and I could be wrong. Actually, I'm well into MOCing a colonial hall for the council for Weelond, but I anticipated that others would want to MOC it as well. I think it would be interesting (and make for more MOCs) if the physical location of the council moved to a different place each session. -
[SR-Mini Challenge Cat III] Exiles
Capt Wolf replied to Kwatchi's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
The story and the build are equally excellent! I too like your technique with the woodwork and roof. Figure posing and expressions are quite good, too. And a very interesting response for story-telling purposes, with much future potential. Well done! -
Great micro build! Santa's sleigh is great, and the One Ring for the king's crown works quite well!
