  1. I really like your point of view. I think my question has been answered.
  2. It's actually much more complicated than that. The story team had like seven books worth of story to take inspiration from, and in 2008 they ended the first one. So no, they had almost a real-life half century of story outlined in advance. On the other hand BIONICLE was supposed to end in 2001, not 2003.
  3. Is Umarak's mask really that beautiful? Could you describe it?
  4. New under-armour means new shells?!
  5. 2005 was on of the best year for titans and villains (the Visorak were just the cutest), but probably the worst as far as Toa are concerned. 2008, on the other hand, had the worst wave of all times: the Mistika. Plus that terrible plastic. Boxed sets were cool though!
  6. Sure, my bad, but this opinion comes from the most important BIONICLE place in the web back in 2007. It wasn't a random post on 4chan. Blame the leak drought :P
  7. I don't see how it does translate into a simpler build. Does it really make a set more complicated the use of FOUR gears? I mean, FOUR. Not thirty. This ain't no 199$ Technic set.
  8. That seems pretty obvious to me, but with BIONICLE that's a really HUGE drop. Even Pokémon is selling these days 15 million copies with the two main titles of a generation, more than a half than the original RBG (these three alone sold around 25 millions). BIONICLE selling half of its toys in the first three years alone is at least a bit strange, if you allow me to say so.
  9. I found this old article from BZPower where they say at a certain point that did I read that right? In 2007 BIONICLE sets were simpler than in the past? I know BZPower has a huge fetish for gears, but I really never saw them as a fundamental part of a set, above all something that makes the set more complicated. Canister sets were much more detailed than in the past, with real armour and joints, while titan sets gave indeed up some pieces in favour of poseability. I also feel it's important to remind that the richness of sets like the '01 rahi wasn't followed by anything comparable. The Bahrag and Boxor/Exo-Toa were indeed intricate toys, but nowhere near as a Muaka&Kane-Ra or Manas. In defense of this article in february 2007 there still was no information about the vehicles from 2008 or even 2009, sets that really set high the bar of complexity and features. But to say BIONICLE was getting simpler in its sets... what do you think about it?
  10. I know about DarthVader's fame in the community, but regardless of that I found his statement quite bold (a nine years long franchise selling almost half of its sets in its first three years makes someone wonder why LEGO made it last so long). Oh well, thanks for the investigation!
  11. Any source for this, except "a LEGO employee told me that"?
  12. Since here in northern Italy we're having a nice summer lightning, I decided to take some pictures with the Goddess of storms (and lakes, seas and everything else water-related): Toa Gali! While I'm in no way a good photographer, I think some shots were quite nice, especially since the sky is reminescent of the classic poster from 2001. Full gallery: http://imgur.com/a/SCE1z
  13. Yesterday I pulled out my Kongu Inika from its canister and most of its joints had small cracks, including quite a big one. What saddens me the most is that he spent the last 10 years in its canister, sheltered from any damage. Jeez, they really used some cheap plastic back then... I think beginning with next year we may be getting CCBS bones with better friction, therefore making LEGO action figures close to perfection.
  14. Yeah, I know about royal flush, but this makes the meaning even more obscure to me.
  15. What the hell does it even mean "hammer flush"? Like in "flushing the toilet with an hammer"? :laugh_hard:
  16. It's reported by Bionicle Wikia. Any source for this claim? I also read here on Eurobricks that GregF said back in 2007 that the Inika sold like crazy, and more or less so did the Piraka. This makes me wonder if all the bashing back then on 2007 had some reason to exist, since it looks like it was the year that killed BIONICLE (the cancellation was decided in early 2008).
  17. Full title should be: In Greece and some other European countries, including Denmark,Legends of Chima is the 2nd most popular theme after Bionicle. I found this on the Brickpedia page dedicated to Legends of Chima. Does anyone have any source for this claim? *huh*
  18. https://brian.carnell.com/articles/2001/lego-takes-juniorization-to-its-logical-outcome/ Substancially this old article from 2001, even before BIONICLE launched, described the theme as the pinnacle of junioritazion aka making simpler sets with bigger pieces. While it holds some truth, the ball cup building system was already three years old. The really hilarious part is the misconception about BIONICLE itself, and the blindness about its bright future. Do you have any other example of foreshadowing done wrong? I forgot to underline this part, the icing on the cake. OH MY GOSH I freaking love the censorship for that word :roflmao:
  19. Do we know who made the Mask of Creation? I mean, Ekimu would be the obvious answer, but I haven't read that anywhere. Also the same applies for Makuta's mask, did he make it himself?
  20. And that's why BIONICLE went Sonic-the-EDGEhoge way from 2006 onward.
  21. Show'em, DeeVee. EDIT: better video for tehlulz.
  22. I used to think about that particular, but then BZPower. That place has always been crowded by kidz. Also, tons of people from Southern Asia and South America talk about Ninjago. I mean, really, A LOT. But no europeans nor north americans.
  23. Yeah, I've seen the groups, enormous ones compared to those dedicated to BIONICLE, but... they don't speak english how come the anglosphere doesn't talk half as much about ninjas?
  24. "In the LEGO Action and Adventure Themes section", would be the obvious answer. What I am really asking here is: how can a theme as big as Ninjago is today not to have a much louder fanbase? In 2005 BZPower had even began its decline, after years of outstanding activity. Why doesn't Ninjago have its own fan website, why is /r/Ninjago so slow, why is its own area in this forum not as crowded as is the one dedicated to BIONICLE? Sure, I know most Ninjago fans are kids, but a 8 years old boy in 2011 is now 12, old enough to browse the internet on his own. What really makes me scratch my head is that Ninjago is today a much bigger deal than BIONICLE has ever been, at least in terms of sheer popularity. And if I'm asking this here is because I want to make a comparison between the two fanbases, fanbases of two wonderful themes that made LEGO what it is today. Also I think this kind of topic may sound rude in the other section P.S.: Even though I'm not a fan of Ninjago, I love its settings and above all the fact that it learnt the lesson of BIONICLE without making many of its mistakes. What you can call a good legacy, couldn't you?
  25. Lol no problem, all those leaks in the air got us pretty excited. Also, check'em, it's your 777th post
