This year we had a couple of sets with stickers, in Onua's case you had to place them yourself. That stinks.

Also, we had so many characters and so little story material that obviously tons of things were left out. I guess Ekimu has its shield hidden somewhere in the closet

BIONICLE G2 is playing much, much more similarly to G1 than HF. I don't see that happening tbh. But I fear it will :/

Or that in this low budget series they tried to reuse stuff as much as possible. I doubt we'll have a mask of vines or anything similar, lol. With all the trilogy talk I'm 99% sure we'll be having the classic squad in 2017. But I really hope they're not gonna shelf us new forms by then. Two transformations in a row feels unnatural. It took 6 years to get the Mistika/Phantoka, and it wasn't even worth it.

HAHAHAHA I KNEW IT I FREAKING KNEW IT SINCE WE FIRST HEARD ABOUT IT And in general today is a perfect day to be hyped. Can't wait to grab that graphic novel, looks gorgeous!

This is the style we've been looking for.

That made my Kohlii balls explode... as Huki smashed them while we were playing a game in Po-Koro. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Seems likely. But maybe a couple of episodes in December just as a short recap of this year's story?
-
Seriously hyped. Launching soon?

Reporting this from the 2015 discussion, BIONICLE found on Netflix. We just know the title, "BIONICLE: the journey to one". EDIT: never mind, this is the wrong thread.

Sorry, I clearly used the wrong term: how many facial expressions can you show while wearing a mask?
-
How many emotions can you show while wearing a mask? In all seriousness, The Legend Reborn did an amazing job in portraying the real sets while letting them show a degree of emotions.

I definitely want CGI. The commercials in G1 were the pure essence of BIONICLE for those countries who got no books nor comics, like mine. Besides, the sets looked so close to their real appearance yet they managed to look like real robots. Magic I'd love to see summoned again.

Looks like some really good news. Hype!

This is one of those moments in which I really enjoy being part of this community: discussions that go beyond the toy itself by bordering philosophy and personal beliefs. I agree 99% with what DV said, especially the part where you explain the biological reasons we like certain things instead of others. Notions I never thought about when talking about Bionicle: what made me dislike so much the Barraki was actually how they were a distorted human shape. Not a flat out creature like Nidhiki, but a mutation of our shape. Also a reason why I regard the Metru as the best canister sets of G1.

That wasn't at all my point. My question was: do kids care about clashing textures in their toys? As a kid I disliked the Barraki because they looked ugly, not because they had never before seen textures. Also, regardless of what people may say, Brutaka is my favourite set since 2006. No matter how badly its textures do clash.

Interesting reading, but do kids really care about all this stuff?

This means Umarak reaches the 80 pieces benchmark by his legs alone. Counting in his bow, the torso, the antlers and the arms... 172 doesn't seem such an absurde amount EDIT: you meant 40 pieces between the two legs, sorry.

mmh are you sure? They contain the exact same amount of pieces (172).

Well, for me Brutaka is the best set from G1... guess we can't really have a serious discussion in that sense, our points of view are too far from each other. Back on topic, we're getting TWO 30$ sets in january right?

All the fuzz about Kopaka's lens made me wonder: why on earth did they swap the lens with its Phantoka form? That was just plain stupid.

Sure, sorry, I wasn't clear enough: he ALMOST never talks. He's got literally two lines, which are nothing to write home about.

I can't really understand why people dislike the fact that we're getting an armour piece "too much" similar to G1 aesthetics. What made G1 so great to my eyes was the mix of different pieces with different origins: that was original, and helped creating the idea of a coherent universe with the same basis. Just like we have bones similar to those of monkeys, foxes etc. in the BIONICLE world we had Brutaka using the same calf of Vezok, or Roodaka using Rahkshi legs as arms. That was FASCINATING, and while different textures in the same set may trigger some people, it amazed me. I really hope we continue down this road in G1: while I think 2015 was on of the best waves in the entirety of BIONICLE's history, this 2016 wave (and less beautiful, I admit it) may bring even better sets in 2017.

Takanuva 2008, of course. Those sets were the pinnacle of the Technic/BIONICLE blending, and I can't really understand any criticism towards this aspect of G1.
