Oh, my mistake! I like it next to the DO too. I'm working on getting some minifigs going on the 2nd level and working at the shop as well!
-
Built it in person. Changed up the Ice Cream sign with the Ice Cream cone minifigure from the Collectible Minifigure series, and I think it came out better than the small cone piece. Here it is tucked in with the Detective's Office and an apartment I made.

That's an impressive amount of different-style fire stations! Love it.

Finally got all the parts from my own collection and Bricklink (minus one cheese slope that I guess I miscounted). With the announcement of the official Lego modular bookstore, I'm thinking about redoing the interior into something else. Looking for any suggestions! Here's the candy shop (will need to get some actual candy in the candy dispensers. Here it is with the Parisian Restaurant and my custom brownstone apartment.

Crab and lobster would be a good addition to the bottom floor along with moving the crates outside. I'll play around with that! Thanks for the suggestion.

The light aqua would look nice!

As soon as I saw the Lavender I knew it was perfect for an Ice Cream shop like this. I think the Friends colors give some interesting new options that can be used creatively.
-
Never really paid any attention to the Friends line but looking at one, do see a bit of a resemblance. I designed it with all existing parts and colors so it should be build-able.

Stunning build! Looks practically identical to the real life model.

Here is my small Ice Cream Shop. The front features a gumball machine and bench under a tree for people to sit and eat their Ice Cream. The first floor has the actual ice cream and a small table setup. Here's a closeup of the counter and the supplies closet under the stairs, Second floor is a seating area as well as as another area to store some supplies/materials. Here is it alongside my bookstore and fishmonger. I'm almost done physically building the bookstore and then need to get working on the other two.

Thank you! It's certainly a different take than the revealed set. Please do! Thank you for the compliment. I went back and forth on adding additional floors, I'll play around with it some more.

I really like the design, feels a little bit smaller and more...quaint I guess? Which I think fits a book store. Do wish there was a little bit more to the bookstore interior though.

Thank you! I was thinking a fish market would not be super extravagant so I went for a simple, realistic approach. Thank you for the suggest, I will try and clean up the renders a bit. New to Studio.

Here is my custom modular Fishmonger! The first floor features a fish market where patrons can browse a collection of fresh catches. The second floor features a ship captain's office, maybe for a fishing boat or some other ocean-related business. Here it is alongside my Brown Bookstore MOC as well for a shot of my two buildings.

Thank you! Magazine racks would be a great addition that I'll work on.

Hey all, Here is a Brown Bookstore MOC I've been working on for a few months. This is the first building I've designed in Studio. With the rumor on the Modular Buildings thread that a bookstore is coming next, I will be a little disappointed if that turns out to be true. The first floor features a candy shop tucked into the entry as well as the registers to check out. Here's a look at the candy dispensers (couldn't figure out how to fill them in Studio) and a little wall art. Checkout registers and a small bookcase. The second floor is the actual bookshelves and a sofa with a few chairs for people to sample the books before they buy.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Itsasecret581 replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I hope it's not a bookstore. I spent the last couple months designing a bookstore and just ordered a lot of the parts on Bricklink! Two 16x32 buildings again would be nice. -
It all depends on your style of use for the modulars. For displays, often times the interiors of the buildings are not seen very clearly. However, if you want that sense of realism, to be able to open them up and use them not merely as pretty shells but practical buildings, then the interiors become important. There's no right or wrong answer. I personally prefer exteriors over interiors but I still make an effort to make good interiors.

This is fantastic! Just looking through older posts and this really caught my eye. Great job! -
Incredible! That interior is so perfect!

This is truly a great build! A great tribute to the city. I especially like the gray area over the tracks.

This is a truly amazing setup. Bravo!

That's probably what I'll do then. Haven't worked out my modular design chops in a couple months.
