  1. Submitted my order! I had no idea the Coreburner is from Escape from LA! Snake FTW!
  2. You're welcome. Thanks for your reply. The only things I can think of is the motion tracker that the marines used in the movie and a minifig version of the dropship pilot, Cpl. Ferro. Other than that, you're free to do characters from another movie or video game. Another James Cameron film - characters from Terminator 1 and 2 perhaps?
  3. Hi there, I got my marines in the mail, and they look really great. Vasquez and Drake look like they've been through a few wars together. I feel like I have to be very careful with them - are they really fragile? Anyway, fantastic work. Are you working on your next project? Thanks, slopemodified
  4. I would have thought that TLG Australia would bypass the import limit as well, but the shop website does say that orders may be subject to import fees, but it's not clear. I have looked at buying overseas, but as I'm looking at the Palace Cinema and Horizon Express, the RRP prices seem reasonable enough. I am concerned about shipments getting lost, but what does the top dollar option really get you? The webpage does not say anything about insurance, tracking, or courier, just that they'll expedite it.
  5. Has anyone had experience making a large order from S@H? I'd like to get a few large sets and avoid the additional shipping charges, as stated on their Shipping & Handling page: "Please note that orders over AUD 960.00 may be subject to an additional shipping charge." I'm not sure if that includes shipping. My intended order is $935, plus $45 shipping. There doesn't seem to be any way to tell beforehand if you will incur the extra fee. I wrote an email to Customer Service, but their reply just reiterates the policy and doesn't clarify.
  6. Wouldn't mind a build-a-minifig set - will ask to get one done. How much does PaB cost for the different sizes?
  7. Thanks TanTile! That is the store I was looking for! I did not know about brickbuildr - this is handy information! And it's supplied by the lego fan community? Aren't we a supportive bunch! I hope that they open a store in Australia, but I think it's going to be a while before it happens. I believe that Lego wants to open a store, but the retailers have blocked it.
  8. Hello there! I am asking a question about the lego store, so I'm assuming the Buying forum is the right place. A friend of mine is going to be overseas in the USA and I would like him to pick up something at the Lego store. There are no Lego stores here in Australia. I am going to ask if he can pick up some parts from the PaB wall, but other than that I don't know what is available. He's not an AFOL, so I would like it to be relatively easy for him to get, and small in size (to save space in his luggage). Can anyone tell me what is currently available in the Lego stores in the USA? Or perhaps recommend something to get? Is the stock generally the same, or do they vary between stores? Specifically, he is going to the store at the Galleria Mall in Houston, Texas. Did you happen to visit the Houston store recently? Can you tell me what is available? Or do you think I should just contact the store directly? I appreciate any advice you can provide. Thanks in advance. Regards, slopemodified
  9. At Target in Victoria Park and Bullcreek, WA, spotted Monster Fighters, Legends of Chima, new Ninjago, new City and SW sets. The Vic Park store had Dino, Batman vs Mr Freeze, LOTR Attack of the Wargs, the Rancor Pit, and AT-RTs I was really after the new SW Planets, but they only had one Naboo.
  10. The target online store is doing the strangest thing - I add Diagon Alley to my basket, and the price "magically" goes up to $279!! What gives?? This had better not be one of those "offer not available in all states" in the fine print.
  11. That sounds very good! Forgive me, but does this mean it is only available at this price online, and not in-store?
  12. Season's Greetings, I use the compartment box pictured below to store some minifig parts. I'm wondering how to sort yellow minifig heads - I'm thinking of sorting by the heads' expressions - happy, angry, sad/scared, etc. I thought it could make it easier to grab what I want, based on the emotion. How do you sort minifig heads? By colour, theme or type? New and used? By facial features (facial hair, wearing glasses)? Do you separate the double-sided ones? Or do you not separate your heads at all? How about the torsos and legs then - how do you sort and store them?
  13. Can anyone tell me what do the Asian characters on this part mean? It is a glass piece from Ninjago sets. I am using it on a creation to give to a Japanese teacher, so I would like to confirm what it means before presenting it. Thanks.
  14. Has anyone seen the ice cube trays available in the shops? (brick or minifig moulds). I'd order online, but I'd like to get them in the next day or so. They cost $10, don't they?
  15. Free shipping at the Lego Shop website!* OMG! Even at the Australian store! *On purchases $100 and greater
  16. I got that sheet of vouchers today, valid for next week, only for Toyworld in Success, WA.
  17. Where would be the best place to buy the SW Planet sets? Are there any promotions going on at the moment, or later this week? I'm thinking of going to Big W, where they're available for $14.64 each.

  19. Hello there from sunny and hot Australia! I have created this ocean wave that is about to break, with surfers on it. I hope that you enjoy it, and I look forward to reading your comments on it. Unlike the first, smaller version of this wave, I thought that it belongs under the Special Themes section, please contact me if it does not. ^ As you can see, it is mostly made of 1x2 plates and 1x1 round bricks. I started with blue and medium blue at the base and gradually introduced the transparent blues as it went up the wave. ^ The structure allows for great flexibility and the wave can be bent/curled into a tube. ^ This is the back. It holds up the rest of the wave and is attached to the baseplates. ^ That is one cool surfer girl. ^ Wipeout!! The wave for too much for this little-surfer-guy! Credit to Dave Allen for the idea. This creation was initially inspired by I Scream Clone's Life's A Beach scene. Thank you for looking!
  20. It's not just you that is having this problem, it is a problem with the website. I think this is not the first time Brickshelf has had this problem. A while back, the owner (whoever he/she is) had taken it down without warning or notification. There was quite a bit fuss over it. Eventually it came back, after a few days. We'll have to wait and see what happens this time.
  21. It should be noted that it starts on Monday the 19th. Just went to TRU and they wanted to know my source.
  22. A girl pictured playing with Lego, isn't that unusual? I can understand since it's the Toy Shop, but still it seems rare. It doesn't look like it, according to this flyer I got. RRP for the Flagship is $280. With 25% off it would be $210
  23. Just got City of Atlantis for $71.10. $79 reduced price plus extra 10% off. It may also apply to Atlantis sets. Check with your local store. I was told by a salesgirl that the Atlantis theme is being discontinued. I agree with you. I wasn't sure if I'd get an extra 10% off, but they did. I think it's a sign advertised sale - Myer Booragoon had signs indicating the 25% off and the 10% Myer One offer. Would that mean that it varies from store to store?
  24. I just had more of the same - 2 Big W stores, nothing on clearance. I'm starting to wonder if the retailers are aware of and appreciate forums like this, posting up bargains and sales tips. Based on what I'm seeing, they could using tactics to make it harder to track bargains. However, I don't buy anything else, so they're not getting my money (speaking for myself)
  25. With the Father's Day promotions going on, you'd think the shops would put Lego on sale, but noooo... they don't see it as a good activity for fathers and sons to spend quality time together
