Aussie sales! Share the news of LOCAL sales!
slopemodified replied to Darth_Legois's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
I'm not sure if this belongs in its own topic, but I have a question about how stores stock their Lego. My local Target had some boxes of 8265 Front Loader, and the other day I saw all of them sitting together on the ground, in front of the shelf of Lego. Now, they've been taken away and there's no sign of it in the store. It seems unlikely that it was all bought up in a week with no sales on. Assuming they weren't, does anyone have any idea why would they do this? Would they have sent it another store? I was hoping to get one when there's a big sale. -

Thanks for that info, MicroM and Hemish! Just went out and got Woody's Roundup and the Farm. Heh, I just want a job. -
I think I may have found the seller, goes by jnlweb, right? Currently selling one of the Carousels. Looking at his record, expensive items are indeed being sold, like hoeij said. Not just Lego, but also Dyson vacuums, iPods and RC cars.

That's intriguing, I'll have to check it out. The website says they're having a sale at moment, I don't suppose Lego would be on sale as well? -

Thanks for that! I'll be looking up brickexpo videos. I am very surprised that they have no fencing or barriers around the displays - some pieces are bound to have been nicked! -
That's fantastic! Were they on clearance?

I'll post about next year's show then, if I remember. Do you live in WA? We will be at an upcoming event, if you're interested. It's part of the WA Scale Model Expo, on September 11 & 12, at Cannington Exhibition Centre. -
2 weeks ago, I went to my local Big W (discount department store) in Australia, and found a beat-up 7642 Garage set in the clearance cart/trolley. It was going for AUD$40, down from the over-priced $140 RRP. The catch: it was missing one bag of parts (half of the tow truck ) and the baseplates. But everything else was there... As though to compensate for the missing bag, a bag of completely unrelated parts was thrown in for no reason, from SP3 Container Heist. More spare parts! Plus 4 minifigs - 2 of Snake, and 2 Officers! It looked like someone had opened up 2 boxes of this set, put some of it together, and then abandoned it. There was double the amount of some parts, but half of others. A rare and lucky thing to find Lego in the clearance cart, I'd say!

I can barely believe Target is selling it at that price. It's not even on sale or anything. -

This looks like it's been quite a sale! I'm interested in a few Aquazone and Space sets, but are you able to ship to Australia? Thank you. -

The BigW website has now labeled the City Garage as unavailable online, so you might be able to get it for $85 at the store...! I can't confirm this though, I went to my 2 local stores and they were all out. -

For those of you in Perth: Myer in Booragoon had restocked the shelves - a lot of Star Wars, Fire Services and Train stuff. So if you want to take advantage of the deal, now's the time! There was also load of the games on a trolley, waiting to shelved, maybe can get those. What I remember seeing: Star Wars sets - Plo Koon's ship, Slave I, General Grievous' ship and Palpatine's Shuttle Trains - Train Station, Passenger Train and the Cargo Train Other than that there was leftover Atlantis and SP3. -

As a member of this club, I have to agree, it really is a... puff piece. That is the perception the media has of us, and it must have been written that way in order to get the viewers. But it was the biggest publicity we've ever had, I think. It brought thousands more people to the show, which was not even a Lego-only event. That in itself, shows how much of a small town we are. Does anyone know of other Lego events or clubs that were featured in the news? Surely a local news channel did something on Brickworld? If you haven't done so already, you can see hundreds of photos of our displays at our website. http://sites.google.com/site/perthlego/ -
Okay, so who lobotomized them? What is the authoritarian government controlling this dystopian society? Robots?

Greetings from a fellow Aussie! Did you have a good time at BrickExpo? Why not post some photos? Also, the BricksDownUnder website posts some useful information on good shopping deals!

The only thing I can think about SP3 right now is that the police force seems very... human. How come the aliens always get to be the bad guys and the humans are the good guys? I don't expect this to be taken seriously, but it seems like some kind of longtime bias in the space theme. That said, a bunch of aliens holding a protest of unfair treatment sounds like a good idea for a vignette - has anyone seen or done an MOC with the alien minifigs? With regard to next year, some people are talking about a City Spaceport. Is that referring to those Shuttle launchpads from years ago? While something for the Shuttle would be nice, I would also support a move in a civilian direction. Like sets based on what would be inside those biodomes drawn on the SP3 boxes. Create new alien minifigs - ones that don't commit crimes! And Fifth Element! A flying taxi would be interesting. The big set could be a spaceport structure similar to a train station.

Hello, My name is Jijin, and I live in Perth, Australia. I've been using Eurobricks for a while now, but had not thought about signing up until now. I have found Eurobricks' set reviews very helpful in making purchase decisions. Once, I didn't understand why someone would go to the trouble of taking photos of the building process of a set, including box shots, how many bags, etc. Now I know that it can help the rest of us! Many thanks to those who have done this. Now that I am seeking out good deals on Lego, I find myself consulting the "Aussie sales!" topic frequently. And I would like to contribute, so here I am, trying to make my necessary quota to post. Anyway, I got Lego as a kid, but didn't tinker around with it much, only built the sets. Then I moved and had to sell most of it (a move I now regret ). I kept some of my Technic, but soon entered a 10-year dark age. Now I have been reborn once I joined a group of fellow AFOLs. All I needed was a support group of fellow Lego lovers - I should have done this years ago! I am a member of the Perth Adult Lego Society, and currently doing a massive sorting (does that make you cringe?) Thank you for reading this and many thanks for maintaining this fantastic site. Regards, slopemodified
