Nice tower! More defenses are great, especially since it seems like there are so many fools who try to invade, take over or kill us. I am relieved that there are no Nocturnian pumpkins, since a swarm of minifig-eating pumpkins infesting my lands would be disastrous. Imagine the reaction when I set up a local pie shop! I would be ruined!!

Thanks! Yeah the green eyes were all I had that worked, everything else just didn't look good so I incorporated it into the discription. Thanks!!!!

Shadowmere Assassin and Intelligence Guild

I see a few of the black spire's losing their heads in the future. Nice build! I like how you had all of the assassins be from different species.- 22 replies

the stained glass window is really neat and this story leaves me anticipating what's next. I feel like the build is very colorful and vibrant, and Phillen and ??? stand out a lot since they are dressed in all black

I like the rock work and the overall build, mainly the way it focuses on the vertical part of the cliff. However i thought the pictures, especially of the guys falling, were confusing. It took me a while to figure them out

Nice!I love maple syrup, there are several places around here that make it, and it is sooo delicious. I like the layout of the base, and the cabin and trees look good. Although around here trees just loose their leaves in winter, not turn black. Do you ship to Avalonia?

Such a elegant and formal looking building, with such nice detail. Great job! Although the side is slightly plain compared to all the detail of the front

Thanks! Yep. I tried to make it look powerful and large but still give off a sense of agility and sleekness. Yes, the Frost Wolves are a bit more awesome than similar species such as giant wolves and Wargs.

Are you sure its smart for the locals to be flying a LuftWolf while using these "recreational plants"? I like how the full sized LuftWolf contrasts with the micro LuftWolf and the micro city. It really gives the impression of soaring high up in the sky.

News Travels Fast. At least, on the legs of a scorpion!
LordDan replied to Lord Vladivus's topic in Guilds of Historica
I like the decor of the room, like the scorpion head, the hanging chains, and the thingy with the beard. It feels like the perfect setting for Krell. I also really like how you made it double sided and the corridor is full of detail too, not just a plain back to the chamber. On a different note, how do you do those SNOT floors? Are they just resting there or are they attached to the border?- 16 replies

Here is my entry: Frost Wolf
-
As the old tale states “ The Frost Wolves are the king of the mountains. Commanding the power of the frozen North, their breath is pure ice, their body is protected as if by armor, their minds as cunning as men, and they are as swift as a blizzard.” Frost Wolf and base by lorddan413, on Flickr Frost Wolves were said have come from frozen mountains far in the north. In ancient times it was rumored some small packs came down from the north and into Mitgardia, and by some accounts as far south as the Rakath Mountains. Supposedly they flourished in the warmer climates, while their northern brethren died off. However they eventually began to disappear and by 2,500 years ago only 1/4th of the wolves remained. Still small, isolated groups lived on in the mountains, slowly growing fewer in numbers as each generation passed. The last recorded sighting of a Frost Wolf was about 1,000 years ago, deep in the Rakath Mountains in the land now known as Nocturnus and have since faded into legends. They have long been thought to be extinct, and many doubted that they ever existed for real in the first place, considering them to be nothing more than a myth, an old tale made up generations ago. However one has recently been discovered. It was found by Mage, who was exploring* an area along the Nocturnus/Mitgardia border. Mage ventured into a fortress and, after disposing numerous enemies, discovered the wolf chained up in a deep chamber of the fortress. It had been captured by a group of bandits, who planned to use it as a weapon. They imprisoned it up in the fortress and recruited a group of orcs to armor it. They melted armor onto the wolfs skin, adding razor sharp metal claws, a saddle, and added armor to much of its body, coating over existing body parts in some instances and creating new, fully metal part other times. Mage liberated the creature and it became very attached to him. Frost Wolf by lorddan413, on Flickr Mage generously allowed scholars at the University of Petraea to examine this Frost Wolf, although he insisted that he personally supervised all of their activities. Attached is an excerpt from their report… “We have had the pleasure of studying this majestic creature, which appears to be the last of its kind. The old legends don’t do it justice; this creature is even more extraordinary than we could have believed. It stands tall and proud, covered in thick white fur. Despite the crude armor implanted in its body it is still quite agile and is capable of running at high speeds. The Wolf has an extra large claw located on each of its fore paws, which was coated in metal and sharpened by the orcs. A local blacksmith was able to adjust the armor slightly, so it fit more naturally, but the majority of the armor is so deeply attached removing it would almost certainly kill it. Mage also added a banner and guardrails to the saddle, making sure not to harm the wolf. The Frost Wolf appears heal very quickly, and in some parts of its body bone and fur have grown over or around the metal armor. Besides the metal armor the wolf appears to have a natural armor of bone. These bones protrude out of its body in several places. Some act like a single large scale, protecting key areas. Others, such as those on its fore legs jut out, forming very sharp structures that protect the lower leg. … The wolf has demonstrated that it is highly intelligent. A glimmer of understanding can be seen in its bright green eyes and it displays a fierce loyalty towards Mage, who it considers a friend… …One of our most interesting discoveries about the wolf is its ability to regulate its body temperature. It can survive in absolutely frigid temperatures, but it appears to be able to stay cool in hot temperatures as well. We don’t fully understand how, but it appears to be related to its ability to breath ice…” Frost Wolf base by lorddan413, on Flickr Sorry about the long description. I built this a few days after the mini-challenge started but i took a while to build the base and write the story. Enjoy!

i like the ways it's still very farm-like but it's uniquely nocturnian. very cool build!

nice story! I like the way the builds go together, especially jumping the fence and the stone hut

for the 3rd fight the ground was initially flat but after mage created a tree and grass and plants around the guard it is a full landscape. I had them be flat to really emphasize the change

Haha I just added the pictures of the actual dungeon part of the build Well with that lightsaber hilt piece it was only a matter of time before he became a jedi yeah I was pretty rushed and was a little careless with some of the photos

I like the rock work and the snow is good, although the part that hangs over the edge looks unrealistic. the trees are good in the close up but when zoomed out they look fake. I think they would be better shorter and clumped together rather than spread apart. I think part of the problem is that those sort of trees start wide at the bottom and are pointy towards the top. Also is the ship part of the story or just additional detail?
-
I like the front, with the tree and gardens, the steps, and the shrine. It fits well with the entrance/ lower section of the building. I like how you made the yellow for right in and it works much better than I thought yellow would. however I think the roof could use a little more detail along te edge( where the red border is) but the spire in the center of the roof is very nice. Also in the front I think you should add a little detail next to the shrine, like a green plate or a flower or two. I think area in front of and to the side of the shrine looks a little bland compared to the other side with all the flowers around the tree

Mage paced through an isolated part of Historica, going this way and that. Any observer could clearly have told that he was lost, but there was no one around. Mage: I can’t believe i am lost! These directions clearly said to turn left at the huge snowy pile and go past the spooky cliffside. I did that! He threw his map away in disgust. Mage: Well now I’m truly lost. I don’t even know where in Historica I am now, probably Mitgardia or Nocturnus by the looks of it. Ugggh, he moaned. Dan better not find out about this or I am going to hear about it forever! (In a mocking voice) “ The all powerful mage, lost in the middle of nowhere, helpless. He can’t even find his way to Avalonia, nevermind finding our expedition.” He walked on for a while, wandering around in no particular direction, until he spotted a solid black castle in the distance. fortress in the distance by lorddan413, on Flickr He knew going to a very uninviting and clearly hostile fortress was probably not wise, but he had no other options. Mage sensed that this there was something evil going on at this castle. “If the inhabitants of this castle are evil, he thought, then at least something good will have come out of this. An idea raced through his mind. “I will tell everyone that this was intentional. I clearly knew there was something evil happening here and I was in the area and I set out intending to stop it!” A while later Mage had nearly reached the fortress. He walked across the flat black ground in front of the castle, towards the raised gate, when he saw two vicious looking men run towards him with weapons drawn. Guard 1: Stop right there! Mage continued walking forward. By that time the guards had nearly reached him. Guard 2: (to guard 1) Don’t bother. I say we just kill him and save ourselves the trouble! Guard 1 nodded and they both rushed Mage. Mage pulled his hilt out of his cloak and quickly dispatched both the guards. guard fight 1 by lorddan413, on Flickr Guard fight 2 by lorddan413, on Flickr Mage walked farther towards the castle when another guard saw him. This guard walked forward, confidently, with his flail in his hand,. He had clearly not seen Mage defeat the other guards. Guard 3: Hey, you there! What are you doing in here? Mage stopped walking. Guard 3: How did you get past the other guards? (Snickering to himself) Were they sleeping on the job again? Guard fight 3 part 1 by lorddan413, on Flickr Guard fight 3 part 2.1 by lorddan413, on Flickr guard fight 3 part 3 by lorddan413, on Flickr Mage walked into a room deep in the castle. Guard 4.1 by lorddan413, on Flickr Guard 4.2 by lorddan413, on Flickr Mage could hear faint sounds, coming from somewhere below him. Tormented roars, of an animal, clearly in great pain echoed up the stairs. He could also hear voices not quite human, grunting and shouting, and harsh clanging. Mage crept as close as he dared to the stairs. “Work faster you lazy maggots!” barked a rough voice followed by the unmistakable crack of a whip. Agonized howling could be heard over the clamor. “ Hold down the beast!” bellowed another voice. “We need more metal over here” whined another voice. “ Whoever is down there must be making something,” thought Mage. “They clearly don’t intend to be friendly, and I imagine they are up to no good. I wonder why they have an animal down there,” he pondered. His thoughts were cut off by the sound of footsteps coming up the stairs. magic spear by lorddan413, on Flickr Mage quickly put his hilt into the folds of his cloak and hastily created an energy spear. castle battle part 1 by lorddan413, on Flickr An unsuspecting orc reached the top of the stairs, only to be stabbed by mage. The Rakath Feathered Dragon: Mount Up!
LordDan replied to Lord Vladivus's topic in Guilds of Historica
That's a good dragon! I like the way it's still a dragon but you gave it some unique characteristics like being feathered and havering a poisonous bite. I like the leg design too. One thing though, where are these venemous teeth? I don't see any Also what is that thing made out of tooth peices next to its leg?- 26 replies

Book II - Avalonia: Guild sign-up and Discussion

Plains ambush by lorddan413, on Flickr Lord Dan and his company of men are traveling through a vast plain, miles and miles of low grass, the only variance is turfs of grass here and there. Several days have passed since they first set out and they are making good progress. Lord Dan: Will! My horse is getting restless, I'm going to loop back behind the wagon and ride around for a little while. I'll be back there if you need me. General Will: ( to himself: sure, it's the horse that's restless) Ok, but make sure you don't get too far back. This grass all looks the same. A few minutes later... The Sir Robert and General Will are idlely chatting Sir Robert: So what do you think it will be like? General Will: I'm not sure, from the vauge description on the map it seems to be like most of Avalonia, with plenty of forested areas, lushious grasslands, you know, a typical forest getaway. But I did notice a small mention of a few hills, so there could also be some nice rocky areas. More idle converstation, but then General Will notices movement in the grass. General Will: (In a low voice) Don't look now, but I think there's men hidden in the grass. They're dressed in the same green as the grass, I wouldn't have even noticed them if they hadn't moved. Sir Robert casually looks across the plain, as if admiring the endless grasslands. Sir Robert: (whispering) I saw one, over on the left. General Will: (quietly) Theres another behind you.(loudly) Ok, I've had enough of your silly tales. There's no way a vampire is a duke, here in Avalonia. Robert, why don't you go check the reigns on the right horse over there. They look a little tight and we don't want him getting sore. Sir Robert: Sure thing, I've got him( winking at Will) General Will: I' ll check the right one Will climbs down and " checks" on his horse Will: ( softly, so only Robert can hear) 1,2,3 At three they both spin around and attack the two very surprised bandits that were creeping up behind them. At the back of the wagon a third bandit runs out of the grass, tosses a rope onto the deck and climbs on. Bandit: kkiiillllllll ttthheeemmmm!!! Archer: What the..?! The archer pulls out his knife and blocks the sword blow aimed right for him. Behind the wagon Lord Dan sees the commotion and charges forward with his sword out, ready for battle. Plains raid 2 by lorddan413, on Flickr Plains Raid 3 by lorddan413, on Flickr Plains raid 4 by lorddan413, on Flickr Plains raid 5 by lorddan413, on Flickr This isn't really a build, just a quick landscape and a way to show them progressively moving across avalonia. I did, however, enjoy having my soldiers get their first taste of battle.

Book II - Avalonia: Guild sign-up and Discussion
LordDan replied to Rogue Angel's topic in Guilds of Historica
If I wanted to have a drow in my build is that ok, or does it need to be part of the challenge( I was thinking a lone drow was trying to minipulate a gang of bandits into causing more chaos and raiding small settlements in order to add more problems for the avalonians to have to deal with)
