  1. No it doesn't "have" to be done before review. LEGO reserves the right to make any changes they want- if they determine weirdo-pest-control would outsell Ghostbusters they could make the change. Once the idea is submitted you relinquish any rights you may have had. I agree it would unlikely, but there is no legal reason it could not happen.
  2. I agree, I supported it, but I would never put a Starbucks in my collection- I'd rebrand it as a generic coffee shop.
  3. I think the current exterior of he Natural History Museum is great for what it is, I'd have no issue putting it between other modulars.
  4. LEGO Ideas has repeatedly rejected my set based on the TV show Pawn Stars on the History Channel. Doubt HBO series have a shot- joking or not.
  5. I was only repeating what 2 Lego customer reps told me about Town Hall on two different calls on two different days. "Out of stock and not coming back." Having no prior experience with LEGO customer service reps I don't know if they have any extra information or if they simply say that when an item is out of stock and they aren't taking more orders for it at this time. I personally would be surprised to see it retired without a "Retiring Soon" label on the website but on the other hand I was not going to risk missing it by waiting to buy it once I found a place that had it. To me it seems like bad business to retire a set right before the holidays when you figure you will get sales by nature of the season. Best to retire soon after and just sell off the rest of the stock as the year goes on, but that is me.
  6. Thanks. :) Basically I'm happy with it as it was in those last set of pics. It's been on display at my house since. Everyone asks where I bought it. :p
  7. I'm sorry I missed the Fire Brigade. By the looks of prices on the secondary market LEGO clearly could have kept making them.
  8. When I was a kid and had a 20 gallon fish tank I decided to build an under-water base and then put it in my fish tank, was there a couple years... the fish eventually died, when I tried cleaning the pieces I got frustrated, I couldn't get the algae off, so I ended up tossing all the pieces that were under there. It was nice for a while, probably wouldn't do it again now that I realize how sensitive fish can be.
  9. Once a set is in the USA, LEGO isn't going to use it to fulfil UK orders. A set may very well be sold out in the UK but available still in the USA or vice-versa.
  10. Thanks so much. :)
  11. This little train #31015 (MSRP $4.99) was something I bought just to get my order over the threshhold for free shipping but it's a lot more fun than I imagined. I bought two so I could make a car for the engine to pull... Now I'm going to order a few more so I have pieces to make some custom cars. Anyway I know officially these don't fit on LEGO tracks but wondering if anyone had any success making some kind of custom track that does work?
  12. I am counting 25 studs square- is that what it is? What would be very unusual, standard would be 16 or 32 studs.
  13. I would definitely put in an order at retail price if you can on Town Hall... Two reps have now told me the same thing- that said I will continue to check the status a few times a day until it says "Retired Product" instead of "Sold Out."
  14. So for a short time on shop.lego.com last night Town Hall was listed as "Call for availabilty" instead of "Sold out." So I called, after a few minutes I was told it was sold out and not coming back. When I woke up this morning I had 3 emails from lego 1)Thank you for your order 2)Sorry but the item is out of stock, we won't charge you until it ships 3)Your item shipped (it turns out only the free gift winter village set shipped) Confused I called back, explained the situation, asked what did they even charge it to because I provided no billing info, last I heard it was out of stock. After a few minutes the guy confirmed it is out of stock, it's not coming back, the other person accidentally created the order yesterday, and there are no billing details. Since the free gift already shipped, enjoy it- they can't take it back. Cancelled the rest of the order.
  15. So I built the Pet Shop over this past weekend and a strange thing... I like it, don't get me wrong... but... I actually like Grand Emporium better. I was shocked- ,maybe I had too high expectations as everyone has been saying Pet Shop is the best build and they seem to rank the Grand Emporium at the bottom, I have been watching for Town Hall and I just leave a browser tab open to check if it comes in a few times a day. All day it had been listed as "Sold Out" then when I checked just now it was listed as "Call to check availability." So I called and the rep who answered said it was sold out and "it looks like it's not coming back." :( Hoping he's wrong, going to keep checking until the end of the month.
  16. Doubt it will crack but I imagine the spring will lose some of its spring power the longer it is left compressed. FYI my Spaceship (x3) has been sitting cocked since June I believe- no cracks yet.
  17. I will never get the obsession some people have with minifigs... I don't much care about their specifics... as long as they have a space helmet for space sets or a pirate hat for a pirate ship, I'm good.
  18. Just to followup I built the Grand Emporium this past weekend and it was great. Can't wait to get to the Pet Shop and Restaurant. Thank you everyone for your suggestions. Note the flowers in proper studs down arrangement. ;)
  19. I've found one good deal at Toys R Us - The Technic RC Rock Crawler 9398... $199 MSRP but only $160 at Toys R Us, and has been priced that way for months- not a sale. If your bother is still in the NYC area there are other Lego stores nearby, anything not on the island of Manhattan will be cheaper.
  20. Well I wasn't sure the one I ordered from Amazon (Parisian Restaurant) would make it here in time for me to start building this morning so I finally opened the Volkswagen Camper Van which had been sitting unopened for some time. Starting sorting the pieces last night and I look at the instruction books and see the Town Hall and Pet Shop are on the back of the book as advertisements. I know the campervan was from 2011 and didn't realize the pet shop was so old... really glad I ordered it. Town hall is from 2012 so in theory I would guess should be around longer than the pet shop.
  21. You guys were scaring me with the talk the pet shop might be on its way out. Lego online changed from "Out of stock - Due in October 13th" to "Out of Stocks - Will ship in 30 days" and I panicked and found it at the regular price on ToysRUs.com and ordered it from there... More than I wanted to spend so soon but would have been really angry if I missed it. I will be less angry if I miss the town hall... if I'm lucky I can get it for the holidays.
  22. Updated pics... new style for building 3, new gold sphere, antenna changes.
  23. Thanks all... The Pet Shop is out of stock right now so I also went ahead and ordered the Parisian Restaurant... with luck I'll be able to get the pet shop and cinema by end of of year... Any reason why the Town Hall is so much more expensive than the others?
  24. Well I was all ready to buy the Grand Emporium yesterday October 1st- had been checking daily, it had been in stock since last week. Then yesterday it completely slipped my mind and when i went to buy it this morning it wasn't available online. All hope was not lost however- it said call to check availability. Luckily I called and they were still available- so it should be here next week. :)
  25. This past weekend I spray painted a white piece gold because the gold piece wasn't available on bricklink from a USA based seller- didn't want deal/wait with international delivery.
