  1. ... Aunt's house! Back story: Growing up I had a a large collection of Lego... when I was 17 or 18 and "sure" my days of playing with "toys" were over I put them all together into a big (clean) garbage can and drove them over to my aunt's house so my then ~9 year old cousin would enjoy them. They had a nice big shed in the back yard so the lego pail ended up in there. As I went through college my cousin got older and Lego was never his thing, he didn't enjoy it like I had. Most of the Legos never made it into his house. At some point they tore down the shed and through everything out (I heard.) It didn't phase me at the time ( a senior in college, starting my career, traveling, having fun) that my thousands of pieces ,may all have been trashed. Circle of life... Well... as the years went on I occasionally wondered what may have happened to them but never thought to ask my aunt about it- didn't want her to feel bad if they were gone. I had been to her house many times, surely I would have seen them if they were there. Last week when my cousin was by- now an adult himself- we were talking about the old Lego sets and he tells me he thinks they are still at his Mom's house, and he thinks he knows where they are. Today, i got the good news- in picture form. Where they were... The tree growing out of the can had to die... My cousin put some in a bin, will pick them up next week!. Going to have a lot of cleaning ahead of me!
  2. Creator 31020 Twinblade Adventures set on Amazon for $14.39 with free (Prime) shipping, so I figured, why not?
  3. Thanks! One might argue the Dominion war in DS9 was a multi-season story line but I think Enterprise stayed more on topic all season. I don't want to be a hypocrite so I need to come clean. A family member purchased the Kre-O Klingon Bird Of Prey for me and I received it earlier today. Although this ship looks nothing like the Klingon Bird Of Prey we may know and love (I always remember that scene from Star Trek IV when the Bird of Prey de-cloaks in front of the whaling ship) it is actually a pretty decent set once built. It is a fun size to play with, not too big, not too small... I have to say it will look good among my Lego sets. Still never intend to buy the Kre-O USS Enterprise, however- that looks ridiculous.
  4. My sister bought me the Lego Creator Red Rotors (31003) set as a small Christmas gift. I had so much fun putting it together I bought the Space Shuttle (10231) with my gift cards and I was hooked again. Edit- Sorry - followed the link from the Community Index, didn't realize this was a technic thread.
  5. I've had burn out from too much of a good thing, but never Legos, not yet anyway.
  6. Oh I hope Star Wars doesn't have an exclusive for Sci-Fi series sets. :( One of my hopes in life is I wake up one day and the Kreg-o contract has expired and someone at Lego wised up and bought the rights. I agree, DS9 fans are hard to find. I recently re-watched Enterprise in its entirety on Netflix and I was really enjoying it prior to the Xindi attack and subsequent transition to a "war time" series. I think it had potential to be one of the best if it had kept going.
  7. Well... I consider TOS on its own level- I don't think it's fair to rank it among the others. Of the sequels Deep Space 9 was my favorite. Oh how I wish Lego would have got the rights to Star Trek sets. Instead Keg-o or whatever has them and we get cartoon looking ships I wouldn't waste my time on. Some of the fan created Lego trek ships are amazing- I'm trying my hand and my own Bird Of Prey in LDD, still getting the hang of the software.
  8. Awesome pics on your flickr page! Vic Fontaine!
  9. Thanks all!
  10. Hello All- My name is Joe- I live in Queens, just outside New York City. I loved legos as a child- we had a basement with large tables that were fully covered in base plates and tons of my custom creations. I'm an adult now and suffered a serious illness a new years back that left me weak and paralyzed. I'm using Legos again to get strength and dexterity back into my hands and fingers. I've been busy with some of the larger sets such as the space shuttle. Have a few creator sets on order and one day soon will be starting on the remote controlled rock crawler. While re-discovering Lego I was amazed to see the Lego Digital Designer of which I've spent many an hours with over the last few days. Unfortunately I was having a bit of an issue and that was what made me find this site- I was able to ask my question in the LDD section. Looks like a great site, I hope to be a part of it!
  11. Hello, I recently installed LDD for the first time on my Windows 8.1 laptop. I notice anytime I start it, it says "Installing Bricks" and downloads over 159.50 MB of data out of 159.93 MB... But it never reaches the end, it always stops before the end and says "Bricks Download Failed" with the message "LDD cannot access the web server to retrieve new bricks.Do you want to run in offline mode?" And I have to hit Yes to use the software, hitting No closes it. I've manually added the exe file to the Winodws Firewall exemption list. I've Googled but only finding questions from years ago about an older version- does anyone have any ideas on what could be the problem?
