I do think the legs (the front more than the back) need a bit of extra bulk (but not too much, it is essentially a horse after all but it might be the rider's quite thick limbs causing the steed's to look thin, who knows?), but as is the way with the world, all my Technic 3M liftarms with ball joint are tied up in another, even bigger MOC. I can never ever have enough of those! If you want pictures with a different rider on it, I don't mind doing that either.
-
The other day I got the inspiration to try and build a horse out of constraction parts, so my numerous constraction figures actually had something to ride (other than motorbikes that were slightly too small or too large for them). What resulted is some vaguely horse-like alien creature which does fulfill it's purpose. As yet I haven't named the creation, so for now I'm calling it simply "Mighty Steed". I've decided it's a species of alien horse in my universe, which has 2 red and 2 green eyes, extremely thick lip hairs, long skinny legs and a typically black and dark red colouring. Their owners often equip them with silver or gold armour, especially around the front. Here's some shots of Mighty Steed without a mount or rider: And some with a rider. The rider is an old MOC containing custom head and armour parts of mine which I frequently use as my avatar (if you remember Gigacranius, I used the same figure as a comparison shot), but it's not the focus of this MOC. That's all for now, please enjoy!

Hello all! I would like to show you some of my numerous Mixels MOC's. I'm always making Mixels of all shapes and sizes (many of them for Brickset's contests, but they're also to explore building techniques), so I thought I'd start one thread for all of them. I have too many to be able to show them all, so here's the Flickr album where all my Mixels can be seen. But let me show you a few of my favourites here: Infernites MAX: Flyre Mixels Infernites Max MOC - Flyre 1 by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr One of my first Mixels MOC's and I believe it's one of my most popular on Flickr. I remember it taking me forever to get the jaw like that. Cragsters MAX: Rockermax Mixels Cragsters Max MOC - Rockermax 1 by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr I have a habit of exploring complex building techniques to create expressive faces, and Rockermax is a perfect example of just that. For some reason I also gave him stiletto feet. Electroids MAX: Shockarr Mixels Electroids Max MOC - Shockarrr 1 by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr A Mixel pirate with a glass eye and a peg leg. Enough said. Series 1 MURP: Spider MURPer (Zorch Volectro Mix) Mixels Zorch Volectro Mix MOC - Spider MURPer 1 by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr I have a lot of these S1 MURP's, but I chose to show this one simply because it came joint sixth place in the Brickset Series 1 Mixels contest, thus making it the highest placed "two tribe" MURP. Series 1 9 Mixel MEGA MAX: Tyrannosaurus Mix Mixels MEGA Max MOC - Tyrannosaurus Mix 1 by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr I haven't seen too many MOC's that merge 9 Mixels together, so I decided to do one myself. Basically a stylised T-Rex, and probably my favourite Mixel MOC of mine. Frosticons MAX: Frostbitten Mixel LEGO Mixels Frosticons MAX - Frostbitten Mixel 1 by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr My most popular Series 2 MAX, this time I was trying to really show human expression and mood with this one. He really looks thoroughly miserable and cold here. It just so happens that this Mixel is in fact built almost entirely "upside down" (studs on bottom). Fang Gang MAX: Mixshire Cat LEGO Mixels Fang Gang MAX - Mixshire Cat 1 by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr I simply couldn't resist trying to model a Mixel on my pet cat. Shown here with his favourite toy Nixel in his mouth. Flexers MAX: Mr Mustache LEGO Mixels Flexers MAX - Mr Mustache 1 by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr Okay... I couldn't resist showing this one despite the fact that my other Flexer is probably better. After all, who doesn't like over the top moustaches? That's all for now. I hope you enjoyed flicking through my weird and wonderful Mixels! I promise I will make some more as soon as I finish this 18 Mixel combiner I have sitting around

[MOC] Original Sci-Fi Veyronian Rumbler Tank (CarBorgs)
TheOneVeyronian replied to TheOneVeyronian's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Thanks very much for the nice comments guys! By the way, if anyone wants to see more of the custom figures used in the MOC, I may consider posting them in the MCW forum. -
Hello all! I would like to present to you with hopefully what will be the first in a series of original theme Sci-Fi MOC's from me. You might have already seen some of my constraction "CarBorgs" over in the Action Figures forum, but this is my first System scale MOC devoted to the vehicles of this original alternate universe, starting with the ground tank named in the title. But first of all, I should explain myself with a backstory: The CarBorgs are a kingdom of intelligent biomechanical cyborgs whose faces resemble that of the front ends of various human creations commonly known as cars, and can take almost any form imaginable, though they most typically take humanoid forms. These creatures are grouped according to the make of car their faces derive from. They originate from the planet Carerth, which at first appears superficially similar to Earth, except where all the life forms are these biomechanical creatures. One of the most powerful races on Carerth are the Veyronians (part of the rare Ettoréan super-race (those with faces based on Bugattis), often nicknamed "BugBorgs"), whose mix of skilled artisan craftsmen and powerful warriors means they produce some of the most powerful futuristic war machines, such as the Veyronian Rumbler Tank, dubbed "the world's fastest assault tank". The Rumbler is among the Veyronian leader's favourite vehicles to use. That should explain enough, now to present the MOC: LEGO MOC - Veyronian Rumbler Tank 1 by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr The Rumbler is supposed to be an imposing and rather unusual looking vehicle, the front design is meant to be reminiscent of a Bugatti Veyron with facial features (think Chima, but with cars...). The treads sticking out design was inspired by the Ninjago set 9449 Ultra Sonic Raider. This makes the model over 40 studs wide. LEGO MOC - Veyronian Rumbler Tank 2 by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr The front-on view shows you just how it would look if you were directly facing it. It seems to have a lot of character for a non-living vehicle. Note that all it's weapons face forward, essential for a frontal assault vehicle. LEGO MOC - Veyronian Rumbler Tank 3 by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr A side view. It has a surprisingly sleek profile for a tank... the silver blades rotate when the MOC is rolled along the ground. The tank tread covers are a bit gappy here, but maybe that was a weight saving feature? LEGO MOC - Veyronian Rumbler Tank 4 by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr Not a lot going on at the back, but this is where Veyronian troops stored in the main body can enter and exit. For some reason, they paint all their opening hatches and doors white... LEGO MOC - Veyronian Rumbler Tank 5 by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr A view of the top. Not much to say here really. LEGO MOC - Veyronian Rumbler Tank 6 by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr Here's the troop door again. When the doors open, a ramp flips down to aid the troop's exit (the figure is one of my customs). LEGO MOC - Veyronian Rumbler Tank 7 by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr The top can be removed to access the commander's deck. Here the Veyronian leader and his assistants man the dual plasma guns and command the pilots in the bubble canopied cockpits below. LEGO MOC - Veyronian Rumbler Tank 8 by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr Just what you can see in the commander's deck when the roof is on. LEGO MOC - Veyronian Rumbler Tank 9 by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr The commander's deck can also be removed to reveal the troop bay. This can fit 10 minifigures and it also has a weapons rack (unfortunately it's out of view in this picture, it's on the side closest to the pilot cockpits. Don't ask why they've got Alien Conquest aliens to pilot the vehicle...) That's all for now. Hopefully the whole concept didn't sound too strange to you, and hope you enjoyed it!

That is very true. The simple looking Braptor cost about three times as much as the other two to make, mostly due to those wings I would never forgive LEGO if they suddenly re-released those black wings though, given how much I shelled out for these two pristine examples Thanks. I see what you're saying about Spinlyn, but to be honest, any bigger and I'd need to make a new, larger head mould. I already think her head is a weeny bit too small on her current body to be honest

I like what you've done here. It almost looks like him in his "pre-frozen" state to me. If that wasn't your desired effect though (which I guess it wasn't), I'd suggest just a little bit more trans-blue should be used on his limbs.Otherwise, very nice work Even the Bionicle mask doesn't look completely out of place.

The zamor spheres are from 10237 Tower of Orthanc. Unfortunately they are quite pricey (not quite as pricey as Braptor's wings though!) Good point about the colours on Braptor. I only used the trans-green to tie him in with the other Outlands tribes. Maybe I'll see how he looks with trans-blue, I do have a ton of that colour which I was hoarding for my Crystal Beast revamp, but it'll have to wait until the clouds clear Of course! That's a brilliant idea. Shame I don't have any of the SW planets, but I might just get the asteroid field one Strictly speaking he does have a grin, but the photos don't really show it all too well. The paint jobs on the heads were supposed to be near exact print replicas of their minifig counterparts. Too hard to change it now though, the mouth of Braptor was actually scored into the clay before I baked it But thanks for all your nice comments. This isn't the first time I've designed custom heads for constraction models, but it is the first time I've done them in clay (all the others which you may have seen, there's one or two on my Flickr actually, were paper and aluminium mesh). In case anyone's interested, I used FIMO polymer based clay for the heads, a material I've previously used for custom minifig heads.

I just learnt that, just as I suspected, Frax's Phoenix Flyer will be an upcoming S@H promo in Europe (and most likely the UK too), along with Worriz's bike. Brickset has the details. Great news for Chima set/ minifig completists I guess!

Hello again! Here I present a slightly different set of MOC's to you. Seeing the new torso and it's ability to hold a Zamor Sphere inspired me to try and make the perhaps neglected Outlands tribes of Chima in Ultrabuild or CHI form, using the LOTR Palantir piece as their CHI orbs to match their green CHI weapons (this is also why I used a lot of trans-green shells and gave them green eyes). The MOC's feature custom moulded heads so they can have an aesthetic closer to that of the official LEGO Ultrabuilds (comparison image at the bottom of this post). Well, without further ado, here's the MOC's (sorry about the photography, the typical English weather did not want to cooperate when I did the photoshoot and I eventually had to fire the flash on them). Don't worry about the accuracy of the head colours to official LEGO colours, that's not the emphasis of these. The heads might be a bit small on some, I did run out of clay... CHI Braptor. This should really be Sand Blue, but approximately zero constraction parts are made in this colour, so Titanium Metallic and Dark Stone Grey it had to be. I did get a chance to add some very dark blue when I painted the custom head though. I found the new design shells to replicate his minifig armour quite well. I'm quite happy with how this one turned out, but I'm not sure about the bulbous abdomen. If anyone has any better suggestions (other than the two half domes I'm currently using) that will make a large bulbous abdomen, please do say. Interesting find there! These all look like fantastic builds. Series 3 was already looking like the best series yet just from the pictures, and now to me, it's the best in terms of the Max models too. It almost makes me want to say "Bring on Autumn / Fall!" I'm particularly fond of the Spikels Max myself, but they all look adorable, and better than the efforts of Series 2 in my opinion. This upcoming series look like they should be easier to MOC with than Series 2 for me as well. In short: All aspects of Series 3 =

Custom Simpsons minifigs
TheOneVeyronian replied to The Warsman's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Some very nice customs there, I'm always interested in people who do custom moulds, having tried a few myself with mixed results. Many of the heads look pretty spot-on from what I can tell (I'm not 100% convinced by the Smithers head, but the rest look really good!). I especially like Pieman since I liked that episode myself . I look forward to seeing what other custom Simpsons you can come up with in the future, keep it up -
Like the others have said, this set isn't too bad. For a heavy duty utility vehicle it does seem to be lacking a bit of "bulk" around the middle, so to say, and it shows even more when the drill is in it's upright position. A shell placed on that exposed torso balljoint would rectify that no problem. As a parts pack, this is probably the most lackluster to me out of the medium sized sets, as it's quite rare that I MOC with Technic... or with orange for that matter. The orange drill piece is nice, but again, not sure where else I could apply it. To me, the mech itself is worth more than it's parts. I'm definitely thinking of swapping out Bulk's lime green head for one with a more orange hue. Overall, a good set, if not my absolute favourite set, and thankyou for bringing these reviews to us!
-
Just as I suspected, though I wasn't 100% sure. I think I'll save my fingers some discomfort and pull it manually, my fingers can hurt enough from using the flick missiles. I couldn't imagine that, with the winch mechanism, it wouldn't launch all that smoothly or even very far anyway, it would just snag all the time. Thanks for the swift response VBBN
-
Nice review, this is probably one of my favourites out of the mechs from this wave (maybe that's because Breez is a girl like me I suppose). I was particularly excited, outside the jumper and cocoon, to see the shin armour appear in lime green for the first time, as I can already think of 2 MOC's I have that could use those. Again, it suffers from exposed balljoint syndrome, but not nearly half as bad as, say, Surge and Rocka Combat Machine. Nothing that a lime green 5M shell couldn't rectify I suppose, but it does look awfully empty in the middle. And pardon my potential ignorance, but how does the giant grappling hook actually fire from it's mount, or is it something that you have to pull out manually? I would have thought it was flick fire or manual, but the review only mentions the winch/retracting mechanism I believe. The way the mechanism actually works isn't too well illustrated on the packet either, it just shows that it can leave it's mounting, more focusing on the fact that the whole unit can be removed. Otherwise, a fine looking set. And funnily enough, bright orange on lime green isn't actually bothering me as much as I thought it would, but I do wish the seat came in black, silver or gunmetal grey, or some other neutral multipurpose colour.
-
Once again, thanks for the review. Overall I think this set is okay, I think the blue backed jumper and the cocoon interest me much more than the actual mech does. And I have a Rocka already from the Stealth Machine. I didn't think the mech itself looked too bad on the box art, but now I can see it in a different position, those arms are just... . They are in desperate need of modding in my opinion. I think they would benefit from having a 5M and a 3M bone rather than the one 4M bone, and at the same time it would probably benefit from a leg extension and joint addition. It's definitely no Evo Walker, but at the same time it's no Tunneler or Jaw Beast either. And the name... sorry, even I can't explain why they chose "crawler" over all the more appropriate descriptors that they could have chosen (and I have a university degree!)

Review: 44028 Surge & Rocka Combat Machine
TheOneVeyronian replied to VBBN's topic in LEGO Action Figures
I mostly agree with DraikNova's points actually, and personally I much prefer the attachments from the other mechs as opposed to that very unsafe looking flyer (I know they're robots, but I would have thought they would have at least some sense of health and safety in their world ). That's actually a rather decent idea come to think of it, and certainly much better than the compatibility of Evo XL Machine with the other 1H mechs. It'd be interesting to see what something like the Drill or Flea Machine looks like with the flyer actually. The other thing that really irritates me is unused ball joints in sets, and there is at least two on that finished model blatantly staring me in the face I have the same problem with Evo XL Machine actually (but the exposed balljoints there did serve a purpose unlike this), but fixing the Combat Machine to cure that won't be as easy as swapping out the XT4 torsos for 7M beams (my XL Machine fix) I'll definitely get this set though despite it's problems. I think I'll mod the flyer into something a bit more "heavy duty" I think, and I'll definitely do something about that under-armoured rear end. Fixing LEGO's constraction set shortcomings seems to be all that I do lately -
Well, all the 2H sets are looking very nice indeed and I'm looking forward to picking them up, but I'm disappointed about how they have omitted Nex and Stringer from this year entirely (yes, I know this was mentioned several months ago ). Plus, I like a different character in every cockpit of every machine and mech we get (I count 11 cockpits unless I'm mistaken), so with the spare Stormers and Evos I had (not too hard really if you're collecting all of the sets like I am), give one of each of them a coat of black or orange paint respectively and I think they make fairly reasonable approximations of Stringer and Nex in minifigure form. It should be enough until official ones exist (if that ever happens of course). Like this: (yeah, before some other forum members point it out, I know the colours don't exactly match LEGO's colours (it's all I had), but I don't mind how they turned out in this case) Back to the 2H sets now: Now I've seen the additional pictures and the reviews, I think the Beasts are still easily the strongest sets of this wave for me. The mechs and machines somehow leave me a bit cold, or at best, lukewarm. But it is nice to see some very unconventional builds once in a while, so I'll give the mechs that

Review: 44024 Tunneler Beast vs Surge
TheOneVeyronian replied to VBBN's topic in LEGO Action Figures
I agree. Well, it might not be "set of the year" for me (but I reserve judgement until I have all the sets in my hand of course), but the model is well thought out and looks very filled out, which is ironic since it only has one shell piece and a bit of cocoon. I might see how it looks with longer and/or all black limbs. It might not be matched to the other beasts colour schemes by use of azure, but it does share general trans-green and lime colours with Crystal and Queen Beast, which helps connect the Tunneler Beast to the other underground beasts. Overall, I really do like all these new beast sets, and once again, thanks for the review -
Review: 44029 Queen Beast vs. Furno, Evo & Stormer
TheOneVeyronian replied to VBBN's topic in LEGO Action Figures
I really like the Queen Beast, your photos really show off the best side of her. I don't really think much of Evo's machine though. Despite that £35 price tag, I'll be picking this up on day of release. As a parts pack though, despite some XT4 torsos, gold 3.0 spike armours, the beast head and the printed chest, it doesn't really cut it, well, not at that price anyway. The Queen is worth more than the sum of her parts to me I guess I just wish that those female tri-connectors in the cocoons were black though, they stick out like a sore thumb to me despite them being dark brown. Black ones do exist now (in 70163), but I guess nobody told the HF design department about that Anyway, I really appreciate the review, thanks! -
I will always prefer the Beast sets to the Mechs, but oh my, this has to be one of my favourites in almost every way. Blue is my favourite colour, and I absolutely love transparent parts. The proportions might be a little off, and I would have preferred the trans-light blue 5M or 7M beams here, but since the 4M beams are somewhat rarer, that's just a minor niggle. Nothing that I can't swap out anyway, which is part of what I plan to do with Crystal Beast and some of the mentioned beams which I have on order. I'm also guessing that these will be out either in July or in August. Either way, I can't wait!

I guess I'm not the only one who rates Balk very highly then. I think my problem with him is not his unusual tripod or hammerhead shape, but rather to me he looks like he's got a permanent "I'm about to sneeze!" expression. Call me crazy, but there's something about sneezing that makes my skin crawl, but I still bought him to maintain a complete Mixels collection. He's currently dismantled and bound up with the other Flexers in a MAX MOC which I have made. My favourite out of the Series 2 Mixels would have to be Flurr though. I really like his cutely draconine look. Plus, you can't go wrong with a dragon shaped creature. And blue is my favourite colour

These are all very interesting new parts concepts, and I'd be very interested to see how well the ball cup you've designed works, and if it has just the right amount of friction to it. I'm also glad to see that you've been partly inspired by one of my sketchbook drawings for new part ideas there Leewan . If you do go ahead and try out a hand piece with removable fingers like in the sketchbook drawing you linked to, I'd be interested to see what you come up with. Nice work though!

I second this idea. If they can do Phoenixes, then we could see all manner of mythological creatures. Dragons and Gargoyles in particular could give us some nice recolours of the bat wings, and maybe even a new minifig tail part akin to the ones seen on Scratchy and Rocket Raccoon, but more reptillian of course.

Interesting that a "water-esque" theme to Chima has come up, but if you think about it, anthropomorphic sea life has already been covered to an extent by the 2010-11 non-licensed theme Atlantis, so it is unlikely given that (it's the same reason we'll probably never see a snake tribe, since those appeared in 2012 Ninjago). A desert theme sounds much more plausible, it could give us more Scorpions, as well as perhaps Camels, Lizards and Beetles. After all, all of LEGO's desert based non-licensed themes have been based around Egyptian archaeology (I think), so having a desert theme in Chima would be a refreshing change. Also, don't forget that we are yet to see Bears and Beavers from the TV show, so next year may see the introduction of one of those tribes, in similar fashion to how Rhinos appeared this year. And maybe we'll get to see more Tigers and Leopards too, unless they're supposed to be nomads like the Foxes and Skunks. Who knows?
