  1. Hello! I'm back with an MOC which I have been working on for about 5 months (around dissertations and exams of course), and just today I managed to finish it. What I wanted to do for this MOC was to create a typical modern-ish semi-detached house, perhaps typically what you would see in Britain, but I wanted to properly scale it and create a spacious and fully equipped house. It is modular with respect to that it's floors, garden and garage are all removable to let you look in at the interior. It might be very big, using an estimated 4,500 pieces, but this is intended to be minifigure scale. Now, before I show some pictures, I should say that the windows might appear small, but that's really due to the limitations of LEGO I suppose as I wanted segmented windows on the house. There is also a large gap between the upper floor and the roof, this is due to a rather bizarre geometry error which made the roof plates just slightly bigger than the area of the upper floor, and is unfortunately very difficult to fix. It should fit, but annoyingly it doesn't because the roof plate is half a millimetre larger Oh, and as you might know, I don't actually own any Town minifigs, so the guided tour of the house will this time be brought to you by my avatar and his family. They're not your normal City citizens I guess, but they're citizens of my own town There's quite a few pictures here, so if you'd prefer to just browse the Flickr album (which also contains additional shots of rooms through windows and things like that), then here you go. Now onto the pictures (apologies on the photography of the whole shots, this dwarfed my usual makeshift setup, but they should show what I want them to show). Ignore the yellow you can see in the roof - I ran out of brown then my budget for this MOC ran out : Front: LEGO Modern British semi detached house - Whole house shot 1 by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr 3/4 view: LEGO Modern British semi detached house - Whole house shot 2 by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr Top view: LEGO Modern British semi detached house - Whole house shot 3 by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr Side view: LEGO Modern British semi detached house - Whole house shot 4 by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr Back view: LEGO Modern British semi detached house - Whole house shot 5 by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr Ground Floor plan: LEGO Modern British semi detached house - Ground Floor plan view by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr Upper Floor plan: LEGO Modern British semi detached house - Upper Floor plan view by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr Now for some more specific close-ups of the rooms: Living Room: LEGO Modern British semi detached house - Living Room 1 by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr Of course, the number one sitcom on LEGO TV, Where Are My Pants? has to be shown on the flat screen TV's Kitchen: LEGO Modern British semi detached house - Kitchen 1 by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr The kitchen contains everything a kitchen needs, including cupboards, sink, washing machine, tumble dryer and oven. I really hope you liked looking at this MOC. It took a long time to design and build, but overall I'm very pleased with how it turned out (ignoring the little roof gremlins I mentioned). Thankyou for looking!
  2. This review does nothing but make me anticipate the arrival of my copy of Fangar even more. Definitely one of my favourites I think, though I think I will be buying two, using the second one to mod the first one (and also to get a spare cape - I can never have enough capes for my creations!) and I'll probably also change out the spike mechanism for a more articulate and aesthtically pleasing (to me) version. I think I'll also bulk out the back to make the cape look less flat. It's not unusual for me to buy two copies of a set and mod them into one figure though, especially if the figure is asymmetrical. Great review as always VBBN, I've been looking forward to reading reviews of these
  3. Thanks Takanuinuva, I admit that this isn't the most stable version of the figure, the tail has to rest on the floor also since the torso is bulky. the head alone has more than 100 parts (making it very heavy) and it is basically standing on it's toes otherwise. The Chima ice claws were borrowed from the ice vehicle in 70146 Flying Phoenix Fire Temple, which I had received yesterday after buying it online. I found them to be just the right shape to act as rudimentary pauldrons in this case, but the problem is now I want to get more
  4. LEGO CarBorgs - Vladimir Veyron 4 by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr Hello there, may I introduce you to my latest Action Figure MOC, who is a self-made character which I have taken a particular liking to, named Vladimir Veyron. You might barely recognise him as my usual forum avatar. As with many of my MOC's, he comes with a backstory: The CarBorgs are a kingdom of intelligent biomechanical cyborgs whose faces resemble that of the front ends of various human creations commonly known as cars, and can take almost any form imaginable, though they most typically take humanoid forms. These creatures are grouped according to the make of car their faces derive from. Among the most noble, ancient and prestigious of all the CarBorg "makes" are the Ettoréans (those with faces based on Bugattis), often nicknamed "BugBorgs". Within this grouping includes the enormously powerful "Veyronians", a very small race of noble artisans and empire-conquering warriors. The Veyronian race is led by Vladimir Veyron, a stout one-eyed artisan-turned-warrior with enormous chest muscles and heavy battle scarring, and is proficient with all manner of weapons from axes to enormous gatling guns. LEGO CarBorgs - Vladimir Veyron 1 by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr LEGO CarBorgs - Vladimir Veyron 2 by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr LEGO CarBorgs - Vladimir Veyron 3 by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr I've had several versions of this figure, though this my first version that is almost entirely purist (bar the decal I used for his mouth), all previous versions had a custom moulded head and armour. Well, that's it for now, I hope you liked it
  5. I highly suspected that was the case from the high quality pictures in the manual of the new Speedorz set, but it's always good to know for sure. I'll have to make a point of getting the Fire Lion as soon as S@H show stock of it, Mungus gets a big thumbs up from me for design I imagine there'll be many more custom bigfigs in the future using this new body mould and, in my opinion, this is a long time coming for LEGO. I wonder if there will be any future bigfigs with removable heads or headgear?
  6. I bought 70146 Flying Phoenix Fire Temple last night from someone on Amazon UK and I should receive it in a few days time. I managed to get it for about £15 off the retail price of £89.99 too, which is a bonus for a brand new set (technically not yet released) I guess!
  7. Sorry, I meant those were the shipping times they gave you if you chose to order through Amazon directly rather than through their marketplace sellers (which, up until today, was really the only option). I was quoting the dispatch time for the Sir Fangar I had on backorder from them. I didn't mean to confuse you, so sorry if I did
  8. They've been available to order from Amazon UK for a while, though some are now showing small discounts. However Amazon themselves are apparently not shipping them until mid to late June (that's just what my order details say for those items so it might be earlier ), but many other retailers online (at least in the UK) do have them now for immediate dispatch. I don't think it will be long before these appear on S@H now, I can't wait I'm already trying to think of ways to use the parts in my MOC's.
  9. This is an interesting topic to me, as not too long ago I was facing exactly the same problem as the original poster, as I wanted realistic looking cars that could sit 2 minifigs side by side, or seat a combination of minifigures in ways realistic to the car I was building in minifigure scale. The way I solved the problem was by using a 7-wide scale, which should allow 2 minifigs to sit side by side in most cases. I find that supercars do run into difficulty when going for accuracy even at 7-wide as the problem then becomes the height of the minifig rather than width, and you do sometimes have to amputate the minifig's legs for them to fit in the low-slung car. If you want some ideas for 7-wide cars, feel free to browse my Flickr album dedicated to 7-wide cars (always being added to periodically) and take some inspiration from them. As far as 6-wide seating 2 minifigs side by side goes, you might want to look at the car from the Simpsons House (instructions available here, car instructions are on pages 9-17) as a starting point to see how to sit 2 minifigs side by side in a 6-wide vehicle. I hope that is somewhat helpful to anyone looking to build minifig scale cars
  10. Yes, I did think about a cave of treasure, but with the size of the dragon itself, I wouldn't have the bricks or space for it really. The best I could do was lots of gold and chrome bricks on a baseplate: LEGO MOC Dragon and his Hoard by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr I would agree with you actually, I'm not completely happy with the wings, but I think they need to be larger rather than bulkier. Unfortunately, anything bigger and bulkier just tended to collapse when they were splayed out, and that's also why the current wings aren't fully extended horizontally either, because they just can't stay up due to their weight. I think I might have a play around with some plates later on LDD, as I originally built the dragon model on there. I even thought about adding a cloth wing membrane, but I couldn't find anything that fitted the bill when I first built it.
  11. Thanks for the comments Sure, though the mouth uses the click joints so it can only be put into three positions: closed, half-open and fully open (though I should really swap them out, but that would involve dismantling the entire head). So here's the dragon with the mouth half-open: LEGO Dark Dragon - Facial close-up, profile view by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr And, with a bit of patience, you can get the mouth to sit agape, even with the click joints: LEGO Dark Dragon - Facial close-up, mouth agape by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr (sorry about the slightly cluttered pics, I didn't have time to set up my makeshift studio but they should be clear enough)
  12. Thanks for the comments! I'll hopefully get around to obtaining more olive slopes to fill up the lake at some point
  13. Hello there! I've had this MOC for quite a while now, but I recently rediscovered it so I thought I'd photograph it again and share it here. I believe this should be the right forum for it, but without further ado, I'd like to introduce my Dark Dragon: LEGO Dark Dragon - Facial close-up by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr I think this started out as an attempt at a minifigure scale Smaug from the Hobbit movies, but then I saw the Smaug from the movie "The Desolation of Smaug" and it looked nothing like the model I had made, so I renamed the MOC, maybe rather unimaginatively, "Dark Dragon". LEGO Dark Dragon - Whole body shot, wings collapsed by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr LEGO Dark Dragon - Whole body shot, wings open by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr LEGO Dark Dragon - Whole body shot, posed by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr Here's some quick stats about the model: It's about 1,600 pieces, measures about 70 studs long stretched out with a wingspan of around 60 or so studs. It also weighs about 1.5 kilograms, hence the need for the clear support stands as the legs alone can't support it's weight. You could say I sacrificed stability for poseability in that case. Some more (albeit not as good) photos which I took back in November last year can be found here: https://flic.kr/s/aHsjMPNBDV Well, I hope you enjoyed this MOC. Comments and constructive feedback appreciated
  14. Hello there! First off, I'd like to point out that this MOC is kind of non-canonical to the Chima universe, it is just a place and event that was invented by me for this MOC, it just so happens to be Chima-themed . And apologies in advance for the photography, I've never had to photograph an MOC this big before. Okay, now for the MOC and short backstory: When the Scorpions drank the Chi and became anthropogenic, they took over some Outlands Palace Ruins deep in a poisoned and desolate wasteland, devoid of the vegetation that usually dominated the Outlands. Mysterious and full of magical power, it has become the Chi store and ideal place to hold captured Legend Beasts for the Outlands tribes. Chima legend tells that the ruins are guarded by a ferocious Scorpion Legend Beast, and that the moats and lakes surrounding the ruins are rivers of pure venom. Nonetheless, the leaders of each non-Outlands Chima tribe, along with Lavertus, Rinona and the liberated Lion Legend Beast set out to the Palace Ruins to rescue the Crocodile Legend Beast and recover the stolen Chi... but little did they know that Scorm and his allies were already waiting for them. And so began the Scorpion Palace Ruins Raid... I would love some comments and constructive feedback on my largest MOC to date
  15. Thankyou Echo, that will be handy to know for me I was just asking since you mentioned that Psyclone's tubes on his helmet were rubbery, but that seems to fit with LEGO's tendency to move away from smaller parts bagged individually I think.
  16. This might be a bit of a strange question to ask, but did any of the parts used for Psyclone, Infearno or Tremor (particularly their armour or headgear) come in a tiny bag on their own within one of the larger bags in the set, like the way the Chima lion headgear or some of the Ninjago snake moulds come packaged in a sealed set?
  17. Thanks very much lightningtiger - though the SUV is 7-wide and seats 7 minifigs, but admittedly it's still quite a feat to pull off Can anyone suggest any more suitable wheels for the hatchback, or is it fine with the ones I've got on it?
  18. Some very nice MOC's pig, I like both of them. I especially like the use of the tan Piraka feet as antlers on Toa Muothka Keep up the good work!
  19. As promised, I now have another car, a hatchback loosely based on the VW Golf (or Rabbit as it's known in some countries). It's only on LDD at the moment, but I do plan to build it using real bricks, but I'd like other's opinions on it first. If anyone can suggest better wheels to use firstly, I'd like to know as I'm not sure about the current ones (they're Tiny Turbos wheels I believe) on it. I am also happy to take requests for cars you'd like to see done by me, I would like the challenge
  20. Well, I'm sold on Psyclone and Infearno now, they both look fantastic, especially the printing on their heads. The only thing I'm not sure on is Psyclone's backpack, but I'll probably end up removing it when I get mine anyway so it doesn't bother me too much. I'm really looking forward to these sets coming out in my area, and thanks very much for posting these pictures for us Echo
  21. Yes, I noticed this too when I got my Cantina and Chima Speedorz sets. Instead of the Win kid, there was a Laval minifig on the back of the Chima manual and a Clockwork Robot CMF on the back of the Cantina manual. It looks much better in my opinion, and much less "in your face", though why they picked a CMF minifigure for the back of a Star Wars manual is beyond me. I would say that the Win kid has been retired
  22. Thankyou, and yes they were fiddly, especially the McLaren as the front is only attached to the back by two studs. Not to mention the SUV's roof kept collapsing every time I tried to attach it after putting the minifigs into it. Thankyou very much, the SUV is what made me try my hand at all the other cars after seeing how well it turned out. I did forget to mention though that the bonnet piece on the SUV is actually a custom paint job since they do not make the part in black just yet, but it's actually reasonably hard to notice in the photos I posted
  23. Hello there! It's no secret that I love cars, and recently I've just got into creating some cars that I can put into my town. They're all 7 studs wide but they're still to minifig scale, so I believe this is the right place. I have three at the moment, but no doubt I'll be making more! (p.s. please forgive me for my lack of Town minifigs in the photos - I don't actually own any!) For a convenient way to quickly look at all the pictures of all my cars, please check out this Flickr page. (these include some previous versions of my SUV) First up is my SUV, loosely based on a Land Rover. I could never quite understand why LEGO put out SUV's that could only sit 2 minifigures, so my challenge for this one was to create a vehicle that could sit seven minifigs (like a Land Rover Discovery for instance) but still be just small enough to not look strange in a City layout: LEGO Minifigure scale Car - 7-wide SUV - seats 7 minifigs 8 by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr LEGO Minifigure scale Car - 7-wide SUV - seats 7 minifigs 10 by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr This shot shows exactly how the 7 minifigures fit into the SUV: LEGO Minifigure scale Car - 7-wide SUV - seats 7 minifigs 11 by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr I particularly have a passion for fast cars though, and I do like to create them in minifig scale. First is a Bugatti Veyron, a particularly difficult car to do in such a small scale, but I tried to catch the essence of the car. The grille was created using a custom acetate decal. Here, I wanted to show some of the iconic features of the F1, including the doors, the 3-abreast seating (so it seats 3 minifigures, an unusual feature of a 240mph supercar) and the steering wheel in the centre. Some of the other features are represented by custom decals. I'm not too happy with the headlights since they should really be 2 studs wide each, but that was nearly impossible: LEGO Minifigure Scale Car - 7-wide McLaren F1 GTR 1 by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr LEGO Minifigure Scale Car - 7-wide McLaren F1 GTR 3 by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr Here is the car with it's doors open, just as they would open on the real car: LEGO Minifigure Scale Car - 7-wide McLaren F1 GTR 4 by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr LEGO Minifigure Scale Car - 7-wide McLaren F1 GTR 5 by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr And finally, 3 minifigures (albeit legless) in the car: LEGO Minifigure Scale Car - 7-wide McLaren F1 GTR 6 by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr Well, I hope you liked my minifigure scale renditions of some cars, I'd really appreciate it if you could take a short while to comment or provide some constructive criticism so I can apply that to any future cars I try to make My next car will probably be a hatchback, provided I can actually finish some larger MOC's first. Thankyou very much for looking
  24. Thank you Sir Brickalot The claws (presuming you mean his hand claws) are the new spider leg pieces in black, "borrowed" from the Spider Bytez figure. Any more comments and suggestions would be greatly appreciated
