Aussie sales! Share the news of LOCAL sales!

Has anyone seen the POTC Captain's Cabin yet? -
I have my Holden dealership sitting on the table right now. I am waiting for some Bricklink orders to arrive so I can then build more cars. Currently got a yellow SS UTE, red Barina, yellow Monaro, dark bley LandCruiser (not a Holden but Holden doesn't make a 4x4, just a crappy SUV) and white Colorado cab chassis with tan rear tray. Once the BL orders arrive, I will have enough parts to build: black Commodore plus one or maybe 2 other black vehicles (a UTE maybe or maybe a Sportswagon) red Commodore plus one other red vehicle (UTE, Colorado or Sportswagon depending on what I decide) white Statesman and possibly also white UTE (or another Colorado or maybe a Sportswagon if i can get the parts) blue hatchback (Barina/Cruze hatch/Astra) with a base in another color (only because the blue wheel arch pieces are too expensive/hard to get) lime green hatchback (Barina most likely) and maybe an orange hatchback (again Barina or Cruze) with a base in another color (again because the orange wheel arches are too expensive/hard to get) All in all I could have possibly 15 vehicles for my dealer unless I decide to put some of them elsewhere on the layout (its a big city dealer so lots of new/near new vehicles is prototypical) Just need to print some stickers with Holden logos (maybe give it a name like Airport Holden or something given that its likely going somewhere near the airport)

I hope that we see more Architecture line sets from outside of the USA. I would give ANYTHING to see a famous Australian building replicated as a LEGO set (the Sydney Opera House seems like a fairly obvious choice given how famous it is)

WA has it worse than SA because we dont have the independent guys SA has. (Laygo etc) But yeah WA and SA miss out on so much and not just LEGO, food outlets and a lot more. -
Great police station, I do like the crime lab (having built one myself in my last police station MOC)

Good news that POTC is at Target. Now we just need to wait for another one of their somewhat regular %off sales and score it on the cheap (although the savings on a Captains Cabin are small enough that waiting for a %off sale isn't worth it :P -
A falcon UTE would look great and would be perfect for a country dealer...

Hopefully they will appear at retailers like MYER or Target soon (preferably with a %off sale) No sign of anything useful (POTC or otherwise) in Perth CBD today. -
Are the guns BrickArms guns or are they from somewhere else?
-
Anyone got pictures of the scientist guy from the tripod set? Is the set with the farmer in it out yet (and if so, anyone got pictures of the farmer?)
-
Is the torso on that Yoda fig new? Is it in any other sets?
-
I would suggest something like maybe an AU falcon, every single Ford dealer I have gone past recently has had about 10 of them in their used car selection. Something more recent than an XE anyway.
-
Great job. You need a Falcon in there somewhere though :) Or maybe a Falcon UTE :)

I already have stairs leading up to the entrance. And my ABC (Australia) TV News truck and the reporters I made will be perfect. Just need to find someone to stand out the front. Probably some kind of cop (speaking on behalf of the police/prosecution) as I have lots of spare cops :)

D2C Contest: Scarab statue at desert gasstation

Nice MOC. Not sure LEGO would ever put a vehicle like that in a set though. -
Nice job, really has that Atlantis look about it.
-
So that's what, 3 companies you have done MOCs of who have become interested in your work? (Australia Post, Landmark and now IGA) I wish I had that kind of recognition for my re-creations :) Although I have had multiple bus drivers comment on various of my bus models :)

I would like to request the new 8 x 16 and 16 x 16 plates in more colors. Black would be nice for one as something to aid in building larger-span roofs on buildings, as would light bley, dark bley and white (again for roofs)
-
Nice picture and yes, I am building something along those lines. Something intended to look like it was build as a greek/roman style building in the past and then it was demolished and rebuilt with only the facade being retained. Still not sure what I can add that will make it clear to people looking at it on the layout that its a courthouse though.
-
I have built a big grand courthouse with the new fluted columns out the front. I am working on a triangular roof like the one in the Atlantis Temple but I have no idea what sort of decoration I should put there. Can anyone suggest decoration that would fit? Can anyone suggest a way to build one of those statues with the scales like you see at courthouses?

General Pirates of the Caribbean Theme Discussion Thread

Can anyone advise as to the best set to buy if I want to obtain the most amount of new elements (NOT including the figures themselves)? I am currently thinking about the Captains Cabin because of the globe, map, compass, printed bottles etc. Not interested in the QAR because I dont build pirates and I already own a reissue Black Seas Barracuda. Not sure if any of the other sets are worth buying or not, some advice on how useful they are for someone that wants cool little bits that arent specifically pirate in nature would be great. (e.g. the new bottles are great, what set should I buy to get those?) -
Thanks for the review. Now I know I am definatly getting this set for the globe piece, map piece, compass piece, bottles and long bones.

Looks great and would be a good fit for a D2C set IMO although you could expand the inn and add some rooms to stay on the upper level.

Has anyone obtained the Captains Cabin set yet? Can someone do a review of it (or at least post pictures of all the parts)? Its the only POTC set I am interested in (I don't build Pirate and hence have no interest in most of the sets) -
My guess is that we will continue to see baseplates in Modular as well as some large City sets. Other large City sets will get no baseplates at all or only the really small ones (like last years fire station which would have been much better if it had a 32x32 road baseplate like the current police station)
