I have used real-world companies in my MOCs including Holden (the Australian operations of GM), Bunnings hardware, Transperth (bus/train operator) and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. I have also invented a fictitious name for my restaurant (which is being built in black and dk green with plants and stuff in it), I am calling it "Hanging Gardens of Babylon middle eastern cuisine" and it will serve middle eastern food like kebabs All off my other businesses dont have names, just signage (e.g. my music store just has a BrickForge violin as the sign)

Nice job, good to see such an iconic brand represented (and one that still exists in some places, mostly country area) And its sad to think of the way the giant oil companies (like BP, Shell, Mobil and Caltex) have taken over all the good Aussie oil companies like Ampol and Golden Fleece

I separate out all my minifigs. I have a box for heads with heads sorted by type e.g. molded heads in one compartment, unprinted heads in one compartment, flesh heads in another, other printed heads in another and then the yellow printed heads sorted by type, one for heads with glasses, one for heads with sunglasses, one for heads with beards and so on. For legs I have them sorted into plain, mixed (i.e. different colors for legs and hips), printed and special (i.e. stubby legs, peg legs, dress slopes etc) For torsos I keep them sorted by type e.g. space in one compartment, plain in another compartment, civilian town in another compartment, town uniforms (e.g. cops, fireman, chefs, construction workers, pilots etc) in another compartment and so on. Headgear is sorted into: Hair Helmets (basically anything that fits the standard TLG helmet and visor connections) Town hats (baseball caps, knit caps, cop hats, construction helmets, fire helmets, chef hats, bike helmets, arctic hooks etc) Castle/pirate hats/helmets (including wizard hats, jesters hats, greek helmets etc) Adventures/western hats (cowboy hats, fedoras, top hats, pith helmets, turbans, aviator caps/goggles, sombreros etc) Misc (classic space helmets, star wars helmets, Atlantis head covers, batman masks etc)

Anyone know if any of the 2010 racers sets with the fold-out track piece made it to Australia? Specifically the 8211 Brick Street Getaway. Or do I have to go overseas/pay more to get these items? -

For those in Perth looking for City Space, the Target in East Vic Park has the sattelite launch van thing (minus the one I bought :). No sign of any new LEGO (City Space or otherwise) at MYER/Target/David Jones in the CBD or at K-Mart/Big W in Belmont. -
Those pics confirm it. That set is DEFINITELY going on my wishlist :)

Ampol would be good.

No sign of the City Space sets at Target Fremantle. Plenty of Series 3 figs though. Toyworld in Fremantle had a few older sets like the large creator fire truck, city house and modular fire station. The modular fire station was reduced from its usual 299 price tag (cant remember the exact price though) -
Nice review. And nice tipoff that it is now available at Target (although I didnt see any in the Target in Morley yesterday)

I am guessing that 10220 is going to be a classic Kombi van, just like the previous Classic Volkswagen Beetle set.

My god some of those prices are expensive. LEGO must really be getting slammed on the price of its raw materials due to the high oil price... Hopefully there will be a 20% off sale at the right time so I can snag these cheaper. -

No way am I buying the space center at that price, or the shuttle. Undecided about the moon buggy and sattelite launch pad. Buggy does have the astronaut but I already have several of the smaller sets from the last City Space theme (the one with the light-up rocket engine bricks). The van set does have the windscreen and a few other cool parts but I am not sure if its worth $30 or not (the police prisoner van on the other hand is definatly worth $30) -
Nice MOC, I have been there myself and you absolutely nailed it. If we had something as good as the Queen Victoria Markets in Perth, I would go there all the time.

I suspect it has to do with the high price of oil lately.

I suspect the City Advent Calendar will be just like the last couple, with it being something you have to order specially and not something sold at retail (I wonder if that is a decision made by LEGO Australia or whether there are no retailers at all interested in the City Advent Calendar)

If anyone has a contact in the right place, someone should tell Lego Australia to bring in more stock of whatever the next modular is. David Jones sold every Grand Emporium they could get their hands on and based on what I have seen (and what I have heard from AFOLs and from DJs employees) they could have sold a few more. -
My god that is a lot of 1 x 2 x 5 bricks in trans-light-blue

They are 6 wide vehicles.

Due to where the Holden dealer is going to appear on the layout, I wont be doing any interior stickers, just the logo stickers. I do need to build some more Holdens though. So far I got a yellow SS UTE, a red Barina, a yellow Monaro and a white Colorado with a tan rear tray. I plan to build 1 or 2 Commodores, an Astra and another UTE (colors to be decided based on what parts I have). And maybe a Sportwagon also. I need more of the 6 x 4 car/truck roof pieces in the right colors (and more wheel arches in the right colors)

That price confirms that I will not be buying the harbor (not with so much other good stuff to buy this year and a very very limited budget) Can anyone tell me a .au release date for any of these: Pirates Of The Caribbean Cars Alien Conquest Pharaoh's Quest Harry Potter (Diagon Alley and the 3 other sets) Creator Hillside House Collectible Minifigures Series 4 and 5 City Space -
Nice update. I must get some stickers for my Police & Nurses Credit Society branch going (need the PNCS logo and the rediATM logo) plus stickers for my Holden dealer.

I suspect its all about what kids will associate things with. When a kid sees NinjaGo with all the ninja weapons, they are going to associate it with cartoons and movies. Same with Kingdoms, Pirates, POTC, Adventurers/Pharaoh's Quest and western. The Toy Story army men are clearly also fictional. Starwars and Batman are also likely to be associated with cartoons and movies, as are the weapons in Space Police and Alien Conquest. The sets they made from Indiana Jones, take the fighter plane attack for example. No military uses aircraft like hat anymore. When kids see those, they will associate it either with museums or with movies and cartoons (rather than real life) Sets like the creator Fast Flyers and Sonic Boom are OK because they dont have weapons and they are brightly colored (so they will be more closely associated with airshows and aerobatic displays than with warfare).

If anyone in Perth wants the large sorting head, K-Mart in Morley has stock. A few bits of clearance stock at the K-Mart in Morley (some stuff like the fire truck and boat, fire helicopter and others) Nothing much else of note at Morley (TRU had some of the sale items but no public transport set) or at Inaloo.
