  1. I think all of the above may be true. I think the Hobbit merchandise in general was anticipated to sell like hotcakes all around but I noticed at my local Target the other day they seemed to still have a HUGE dusty stack of AUJ dvd's that have never sold. I think the Hobbit films have not sold as well as expected and therefore the related toys (including LOTR) have not sold as much as Lego or WB expected and so they scaled back the budget on the 2013 waves and scaled back again for this year and they will be done with Middle Earth now.
  2. Aside from the obvious glaring omissions like the Witch-king & Eowyn: I want Thrain & Thror as they are designed in the Lego Hobbit video game. I want the 3 trolls. I want Frodo and Sam in their orc disguises. But number one on my personal wishlist is an Old Bilbo to go with my bag end MOC.
  3. The TRU's in Utah have nothing so far from what I've seen.
  4. wow, you managed to jam a lot of little features in there. I really like what you did with the fireplace sitting area.
  5. Someday I may be able to finish this little project, but it'll be on hold since my mail carrier stole my last bricklink and I'm not going to order any more until I move somewhere else. In the meantime, check out my little update on the original post.
  6. phenomenal work!!!!
  7. that's a big assumption to make. I want one.
  8. I'm guessing that once we see Connolly in the film, he will look nothing like himself. John Rhys-Davies looks nothing like himself in the Gimli makeup. I don't think their level of care has dipped that much. Look at the frakkin dragon. I think TLG focused their resources on producing a kickass Smaug mold and left some of the minor details to the wayside. Personally, I can't really complain about this wave. I'll be just as happy with these four sets as I was with all the other sets I've got. It'll make for a nice complete Hobbit collection. Would that the LOTR collection could say the same.
  9. Dear everyone, He only has the Battle of Five Armies set. He can't take any photos of the other 3 sets beyond the images of them from the booklet which he has already photographed.
  10. the Thorin sword is GOLD!!!! I must have it.
  11. does Crowned Thorin have a pearl gold sword or is just my imagination mixed with poor color quality of the photo?
  12. I'm really hoping that they do Old Bilbo as a bonus with the Blu-Ray. He's less exciting and action-oriented but MUCH more useful in my collection than Bolg would be. I'd also rather have a generic dwarf soldier than Bolg.
  13. The eagle is not dark brown. The photo is just dark. If you look closely you can see that the wings have 2 tones of brown like the ones we already have.
  14. I am super glad to be getting my Thorin in his crown. I've been hoping for him since I first unlocked him on the 3DS game. I would also advise against making any plot inferences based on these set reveals. Last year I was convinced that Beorn was somehow going to charge into Dol Guldur and be captured along with Gandalf and Radagast. I thought they would be finding Thrain or maybe just his ring of power and that would be a part of the plot. And i thought that Radagast would be killing orcs with force-lightning shooting out of his staff. And then Radagast and Beorn were only in about 1 minute of screen time, Thrain and his ring were nowhere to be found and my wild speculations were proven to be way off track. And my brother mocked me for it.
  15. I think the runes in 79018 might say "EREBOR * THROR" although the "Thror" part looks more like "Threr". It's hard to tell exactly what it says since I have yet to see a totally clear image of the runes. If true, it's much better than the Mines of Moria runes "DJORDJE WAS HERE"
  16. Just wanted to note that Dwalin's beard is also compatible with the Gimli helmet. It's the one they use for the "Armored Dwarf Guard" in the video game and it works IRL too. (however the chest-plate piece could never fit under that beard like it does in the game).
  17. I always wonder about that too. I have nieces and nephews who LOVE anything Lego Hobbit or LOTR. All of my evidence shows they love it. Girls and boys, ages 5 to 10. But that's really the only contact I have with children so that's hardly a significant number to compare against a worldwide average.
  18. In my opinion, most of these are very likely except Legolas (casual) and Injured Gandalf. So your hopes (and mine) will probably be satisfied. I'm really hoping TLG doesn't consider the elves from Mirkwood Elf Army good enough to satisfy our need for the BOTFA elves. A super far-fetched thing I would love is to see some of the AUJ prologue figures come to fruition somehow: Old Bilbo, Thrain and Thror. I love those designs from the video game. I'm hoping for at least Old Bilbo to end up as an exclusive with a DVD or something.
  19. Some minifig clues from the 3DS: I don't want to rub it in anyone's face (Kevkipo! :P) but these designs I posted on page 67 were EXACTLY what has been revealed in the Lonely mountain set for armored Kili and Fili. The 3DS game also had the exact designs for armored Balin and Dwalin. I will further note that the Mountain Bilbo was in the game too. And there are no other new variations of Bilbo in the game with his mithril coat showing. The Bilbo versions in the game we haven't seen yet are the gold vest one I posted, which is the same as the blue coat bluray one with his blue coat taken off. And Lake-town Bilbo which is just his head and small dark red legs on the Guard torso. And one called Beige Bilbo which I can't really place but looks very similar to the gold vest one. So maybe no new Bilbos? This all leads me to believe, however, that the armored Thorin in the 3DS Lego game is likely a real design. Especially after seeing the trailer where he is wearing the same crown. I'm hoping it will be part of the BOTFA set. I will also note that none of the other dwarves have armored variants in the game. So I think any other armored dwarf of the company is unlikely. I assume the gold Elrond in the game is the Elrond we will see in the small Dol Guldur set.
  20. I made a substantial bricklink order and the mail carrier marked it as delivered on the confirmation number but my lock-box was empty. This has happened before on eBay purchases I have made. I think the dude sees Paypal on the envelope and thinks there is something of value and takes it as his own. The first missing package was my (1984 Hasbro) b-wing fighter from eBay around Xmas 2012. Totally never arrived. That time I called the post office and got nowhere and chalked it up to some kind of human error. Then it happened again months later with a t-shirt I ordered which never arrived. Now my 60.00 USD bricklink order has gone missing and the post office has the same lack of answers as always. Has anyone ever had this sort of situation? Very frustrating. I'm thinking he opened it up and thought "Oh hell, what am I going to do with a huge pile of tan Lego bricks? But since he opened it, he couldn't exactly tape it back up and stick it in my mailbox the next day without me noticing the funny business. So he probably gave it to his kids or something. Or is he turning around my stuff and selling it on eBay?
  21. Fantastic!!
  22. Wow. Impressive. This is what I build in my Lego dreams. Really nice work and very accurate to the film look. Someday when I grow up a little more I want to build stuff like that. Now if only they would release some Lego fell beasts to go with it...
  23. I have added some pics on the first post. and I will just add that bag end sure gets dusty when I leave it up for a couple of weeks. Anyone have a good method for dusting a MOC without dismantling anything?
  24. I am instantly a big fan of this MOC. Very cool.
  25. That's probably true. Even though the DOS sets were basically taken off the shelves at all the major retailers here about a month after release, they are still readily available at my local Lego store.
