Factions - Introduction, Discussion, and Core Rules

Yes, they at least need to be near a planet so you can earn IP for your faction and submit it for judging. It can be a space build though. -
[R6 - Columex - MG] Mission to M. part II - Departure
goatman461 replied to Professor Thaum's topic in Factions Archive
I agree that it’s a very well designed cockpit behind some somewhat distracting non-SW parts. I’m all for using non-SW parts, and I think it’s fun to mix and match, but its always nice when they blend in well. It still annoys me when kids tell me my Jedha build is Ninjago because of the “partisan” minifigures. Hopefully my Nemoidians with TMNT torsos don’t attract the same attention -
[J8 - Dorin - CFS] The C.F.S. Avarice over the gases of Dorin

[Exits hyperspace] - (in Ansionian) C.F.S. Avarice, this is C.F.S. member number 230598. Requesting access to Little Churnis on the dayside. - (in Basic) Transferring... (in Ansionian) Welcome back Minister Bakari. We have your position marked and will look after your hyperspace ring. Please proceed to the aft of the Avarice and dock in bay 85 on heading 429. - As you taxi in, please allow me to reacquaint you with the Avarice's facilities and tell you about some of the events we'll be hosting over Dorin this quarter... The regular docking procedures will be in effect throughout our time on Dorin. All incoming vessels must hail the Avarice from the fore of the ship, request docking, and proceed aft to taxi into the docking bay that will serve as their host during their stay on the Avarice. You have a choice in the which docking bay to use and are expected to adhere to the customs and courtesies of your host bay. Other bays may have other cultural norms and standards which should be followed to avoid any embarrassing disputes. Also, just as important, other bays may be using a different atmosphere, particularly while we are over Dorin where oxygen is poisonous to the Kel Dor people. We do encourage you to explore everything the Avarice has to offer and all of the diverse markets hosted by each bay. As for events, three circus and acrobatic acts are currently in circulation every third night this quarter. While all of these acts may be viewed from an oxygen atmosphere viewing box, we do suggest venturing into Dorin atmosphere for the circus itself to get the best view of the amazing creatures in their most natural environment. The casinos are always open, just be mindful of which buffet to choose from; poison control is standing by, but we don't want to ruin your trip because of some spiced nerf meant for another species. We also have several trade unions holding conferences. If you're looking to discuss the finer points of jam joints and the science of flow, we know the place. Thank you for your time, Minister. I'm being told that your shipment is ready for inspection and a delegation will be waiting for you in the dock. Safe landings...

@Lord Buckethead run it by your faction leader. They’ll be able to tell you if it’s too small and give you suggestions on how to make it fit best into the forum. @MstrOfPppts @Professor Thaum You can build in space but with no planet to attach IP to, but right now there’s no way to control the territory. In the meantime there are more planets to build on than questions about the game, so get building. -

Factions - Introduction, Discussion, and Core Rules

Of course. That's one reason why we expanded the possible number of XP somebody could earn for a build. We're still working through the judging scale, which is why this first round of judging will take a bit longer, but crap builds will be given crap scores; good builds, good scores; etc., regardless of the number of builds actually posted. Not necessarily. The amount of time we take to judge a build has nothing to do with who posted the build or how many they posted recently. What if somebody saves up their good builds to post all at once? We're not going to penalize them for that. If somebody does try to post 50 crappy builds to take a planet, figuring they'd get 1 XP each, I'm not opposed to giving out 0 XP as it is deserved. I doubt we'll have that problem though. Faction Leaders are there as a filter to people posting garbage and any abusive poster could be kicked out of their faction. -

Factions - Introduction, Discussion, and Core Rules
goatman461 replied to goatman461's topic in Factions Archive
@mccoyed now you have to define what “100% original” means. It becomes a mess. I trust the Faction Leaders to work with each new builder to do what define the world as they see fit. Side note, I wouldn’t have allowed a Jedi recruit in the CFS. But I wouldn’t care if an Antilles or even a Dooku joined -
Factions - Introduction, Discussion, and Core Rules
goatman461 replied to goatman461's topic in Factions Archive
What rule would your write to fix that? Would it be worth the extra restrictions? Right now the Faction Leaders can say who joins their faction. If they don’t like the names they can refuse the recruits. If they don’t care and a faction becomes full of Obi Wans and Palpatines, and builders dislike that, builders can choose another faction. That way, the factions that best represent the material will have more recruits and attract more builders, so it’s a self correcting problem without extra rules. Inaccurate world building will also be considered by the judges. -
[R6 - Felucia - CFS] The Scuttled Town of Felucia
goatman461 replied to goatman461's topic in Factions Archive
@Merc4Hire @Basiliscus @LucasLaughingThank you for the comments. The build started with wanting to do a curvy, organic roof (building on the left) and evolved into a Felucia study based on colors that were most available. (I started to realize how tan and dark tan my builds had gotten and wanted to branch out). I have plans to expand this to 3’x4’ so let me know what I’m missing. -
Great first build @mccoyed, it certainly shows that you have a good sense of the universe. The aesthetics y’all chose for Yitabo look really promising and great blend of alien and familiar fauna. The characters are also well thoughtful and interesting

One of the finest wines along the Permilian Trade route comes from one of the most eclectic towns the galaxy has produced. It was a town of unlikely chance, born of honor, rebellion, and love. The sudden end of the Clone Wars brought many by surprise, particularly those fighting on its front lines. Following the execution of Count Dooku and Order 66, Separatist forces across the galaxy were in disarray. Then, the droids shut down; their one way to distance themselves from the violence, and preserve their own humanity, gone. Nemoidian commanders on Felucia were caught in mid-air when their droid staff suddenly crumpled. With their shuttle spinning out of control, their commander personally brought the ship down in a small valley, burying the nose in the mossy dirt. He had thought quickly, with his droids shutting down there would be no escape into orbit and no holdout strong enough to stop the clones. They scuttled their shuttle, sharpened their spears, and waited. Nothing happened. The new Empire overlooked their crash site. Other Separatist officers and ships were called into the valley. All kinds of shuttles and warships were downed strategically in the choke points of valley and the Nemoidian officers dug into the rock. They would holdout and wait for whatever sacrifice their duty demanded. Still nothing happened so they began to farm. When they needed supplies they traded. When they had a surplus they invested. When they found their true calling, they cultivated. It was the finest wine ever known to Felucia, wrought from years of meticulously nurtured vines, strict fermentation standards, and the artistry of an ancient culture. Today the town is still small but the people are secure and their larva pools, started early on when the Nemoidians were unsure if their species even survived the war outside, now gives them the permanence to strike out from their wasteland holdout on Felucia to a new prominence in the galaxy.

Generally, yes. But some challenges and episodes may require actual bricks. Judges may take rendering and part usage into consideration on digital builds

I probably don’t know enough about BOBS to answer your question correctly. We will have challenges and other building events but no licensing of spaceships or other uses for hyperspace routes is planned. Small clarification to avoid confusion, planet control (fighting) is by IP, not XP. Hyperspace routes are one way of determining if XP will be converted to IP. Players can build anywhere at anytime, but their faction’s access via hyperspace lanes or proximity determines whether they get IP for their build.
